    2012 Week 12

    2012 Week 12!

Sorry for the delay guys. Just got home from work. We're still on schedule for the most part so no harm no foul.

On a side note, I'm not seeing much activity from some lately. The game summaries have been lacking and there hasn't been much chatter overall. Let's pick it up.

    Next advance deadline is:
    Thursday 10 PM EST

    Clemson is unanimous #1 team!

    Games of the Week:

#3 Auburn at Alabama in the Iron Bowl

Auburn has had Bama's number as of late. It'll be interesting to see if Coach Killajo is ready to take the reigns back in this one. Auburn has the SEC West and a date with the Gators all locked up in the SEC championship game so that's not on the line. But what is? A possible trip to a BCS Championship game.

Bama is the more talented team, but Auburn has been hearing that all season long from their opponents and it hasn't slowed them down yet. The key to this one is simply turnovers. Alabama should have enough defensive talent to keep Auburn's offense in check and give themselves a shot at the win. It'll all come down to Alabama's QB Star Jackson not gifting the ball to Auburn and putting his defense in horrible situations. If Bama takes care of the ball, this game will come down to special teams and field position.

I think Auburn's offense has more firepower and Bama still lacks identity. Star Jackson tries to make one too many plays in this one and Auburn's opportunistic defense will be ready and waiting. Auburn by 13.

    #5 Virginia at #12 VaTech

This is the showdown that everyone inside the Virginia state lines has been waiting for. The Cavaliers have finally gained some respect and VaTech is looking to get back to the ACC Championship game. What a matchup and how important is this game. Winner goes to the championship, the loser goes home.

VaTech is the flat out more talented team but they are very one dimensional. Coach MoGriff and the Cavaliers are very versed in the triple option attack since that's what they run at MoGriff's other day job at GaTech. He should know this offense inside and out. That doesn't mean he'll know how to stop it though.

RW Sweetness had a monster game coming back from his injury/suspension and looks very fresh coming into this one. I think the Cavs will keep him in check but it'll be VaTech's QB's and other HB's who will be able to do the damage in this one.

I'm taking Virginia. Being one dimensional is extremely tough against a good coach and I think the Hokies will find that out this week (again). Virginia by 6.

That's pretty crazy that the game put the tackles as a bigger priority to list as a stat then the receptions. 3 tackles is a big game when you usually average 0 per game. I guess it's enough to put you back in the heisman race.

Isn't it crazy how the heisman race has been drastically different each and every week this season?

INT Return for 6 as my DT outruns the Syracuse offense

    Florida State - 44
    Syracuse - 14

The Seminoles dominate on defense, holding the Orange to under 30 yards rushing while tormenting their QB with a relentless pass rush. Lonnie Prior had a nice day, bouncing back from a disappointing game against Clemson the week before. Florida State heads home for next weeks big showdown with the Gators. Shoudl be a good one!

    Ole Miss @ LSU (W 41-13)

    A halftime score of 35-3.

Shepard had 3 rushing scores and 2 passing scores. He amassed 159 yd on the ground on 23 attempts and 110 yd through the air with 4 completions.

The LSU D held Ole Miss on 3rd down. 1-13 on 3rd down conversions. Ouch. If only they could catch guaranteed INT's.

    Ole Miss's kicker missed 2 FG's.

I just kicked the crap out of Vandy. Mettenberger had 300+, Samuels had 4 TD's and Brown had 150+ yards receiving. Also starting MLB Walker had 17 tackles.

Despite an extremely frustrating game by the Heels, they hold on to the Victory Bell with a 34-13 victory over the hated Devils.

UNC overcame 6 turnovers, and 6 sacks, to pull off the victory. Substitute HBs Reid (113 yards, 2 TD, 8.6 YPC) and Brown (70 yards, 7.7 YPC) had huge games against the Blue Devil defense which is ranked dead last in several categories in the entire country. JR OLB Hawatha Bell led the defense with 11 tackles, 1 TFL and a 50 yard pick 6.

This win sews up 2nd place in the ACC Coastal division and cements this season's status as one of over-achievement for the Heels as they picked up their 7th victory, far exceeded expectations.

Unfortunately the Hokies had to play a UVA team without their head coach and that may have well been the difference. VT outgained UVA 554yds to 287yds. The Hokies played a balance game with 281yds on the ground, Sweetness with 116yds 3 TD and Exum with 112yds 1 TD, and Clayton and Exum combined for 273yds 2 TD in the air. This win puts VT back in the ACCCG, featuring a rematch with #1 Clemson. The Hokies will play Kansas State next week as they look to keep momentum into the ACCCG.
