Owens, Grimes steal the show in Atlanta

On the back of 4 interceptions, 2 each by CB Chris Owens and Brent Grimes, Atlanta earned a close victory against the tough New Orleans Saints.

    Atlanta -

Someone's 0 must go! Both the Falcons and the Saints were 0-1 entering their divisional contest in week 2. Someone was walking away with a win, and someone was leaving town with an 0-2 record to start the year.

The game was very defensive throughout both halves. This is portrayed accurately by the 3-0 halftime score. The nature of the game would quickly change, however, as things would pick up in the 2nd half as both teams would score on their first drives of the 3rd quarter.

In the 4th quarter, after a Saints interception by Vilma, Brees threw up an impressive 38 yard TD strike to new Saint AJ Green. Green jumped up and caught the ball in the corner of the end zone in double coverage. It was the highlight of the game and a play of the year candidate.

Not to be outdone, fellow 2nd year WR Julio Jones caught a 13 yard TD from Matt Ryan to give Atlanta the lead with 1:44 remaining.

Drew Brees would throw 2 more interceptions to end the game and deliver the Saints with their second consecutive loss to begin 2012.

The final score was 20-14 in favor of the 1-1 Atlanta Falcons.
