    2012 Week 7

We are now advanced to week 7, good job on the fast advance. Everyone should reread the league description thread as I have updated it with the penalty's you will get for going over recruiting limits. We have been with our teams all year for the most part so there will be no excuses hence the heightened penalty's. We have one user game this week so shouldn't take us too long as usual.

    Game of the Week:

#12 Florida St (the Vredesbyrd) @ #11 VA Tech (DJ391)

    Hiesman Watch:

    1. WR Devon Smith Penn St
    2. WR Deion Walker Notre Dame
    3. HB David Wilson VA Tech
    4. WR Kendall Kelly Alabama
    5. QB Dayne Crist Notre Dame

Next Advance Will be no later than Friday at 1130 AM EST

Longhorn Defense Still Struggling in Blowout Victory Over Missouri

The Texas offense was able to blow past the Tigers on a day where the defense gave up a season high 436 total yards. The defense was able to show some bright spots even while being gashed for big plays. Tariq Allen sacked Blaine Dalton 5 times (UT single game record). The Longhorns also intercepted 3 Dalton passes with 2 of them going for scores.

Garrett Gilbert had his best game of the season so far. He threw for 356 yards on 26 completions. The redshirt junior also ran for 64 yards on 9 carries with 1 score. D.J. Grant led the receivers with 11 catches for 114 yards and 2 scores.

The Longhorns next travel to Lubbock to face CWHarris1 and the Red Raiders.

I will post a write-up on the VT-FSU game tomorrow. Real busy.

    Florida State - 41
    Virginia Tech - 21

Secord played great again. Pryor got hurt but backup RB Ostrander filled in admirably.

Virginia Tech's running game is OUTSTANDING but they had 5 turnovers to FSU's none. That was the difference.

Dj is a good sim player. Great game!

    #15 Nebraska (6-0) vs. Baylor (3-1) - Week 7 2012-2013

From the start of this one, the Huskers had the advantage. Nebraska drove down the field on its first possession, after stopping the Baylor Bears on their first drive with an INT on the Nebraska 10, for the touch down. Cody Green found tight end B Cotton across the middle for a 10 yard touchdown just as the pass rush and corner blitz got to him.

The next possession it was Rex Burkhead driving in from 10 yards out to give the Huskers a 14-0 lead. Nebraska never looked back. Nebraska gave up just 3 points to the Bears and were up big late when tragedy struck. Green was hit on a pass when he was hurt. He will be out 7 weeks. Hopefully the Huskers will be able to hang on to their lead in the Big XII North with their starting QB out of action.

Nebraska held Baylor to just 173 total yards and 43 rushing yards. Nebraska racked up 460 yards of total offense including 236 on the ground.

    Nebraska 38, Baylor 3

    Nebraska
    C. Green - 11/18 224 yards 3 TD 2 INT, 16 carries 107 yards
    R. Burkhead - 26 carries 126 yards 1 TD
    J. Johnson - 6 catches 130 yards 1 TD
    B. Cotton - 3 catches 62 yards 2 TD
    S. Fisher - 11 tackles 3 TFL
    C. Williams - 7 tackles 2 TFL

    Baylor
    B. Petty - 9/16 89 yards 2 INT
    C. McEachern - 7 carries 23 yards
    S. Williams - 4 catches 71 yards
    A. White - 13 tackles 1 TFL
    T. Pickens - 7 tackles 1 TFL 1 sack
    T. Stephenson - 4 tackles 2 INT

    Oregon -- 49
    Cal -- 35

The Oregon defense really let coach tmac down, but the Duck offense was up for another big game with Darron Thomas leading the way by throwing for two scores and 255 yards. The dangerous duo of Jackson and Gaines combined for seven grabs, 191 yards and two touchdowns while Jackson had another kickoff return for a touchdown.

LaMichael James ran for 122 yards and two more scores in what is shaping up to be a career-year for the senior. Despite sleepwalking through most of the game, Oregon's defense racked up four sacks and two picks in the fourth to help clinch the win.

Battle for the Little Brown Jug

    Michigan 30
    Minnesota 21

Michigan returns to Ann Arbor with the Little Brown Jug still in its possession after a 30 - 21 road win at Minnesota. The victory can be categorized as bittersweet as Michigan possibly lost Qb Denard Robinson for the season ending his Wolverine career as the All time and single season passing leader and also the single season passing TD leader. RS-SO Chris Parker came in lead the Michigan offense when Robinson left early in the third quarter. It is not known whether Parker will lead the Wolverines onto the field as the starter against Illinois or if it will be Stanford Carpenter the RS-FR who took a couple snaps as the game ended. Parker has the better arm and more experience than carpenter. Neither are close the same caliber athlete as Robinson so the coaching staff will need to put in some extra time putting a more pro-style offense on the field.
