    KENNESAW STATE 28

KENNESAW, Ga. - After back-to-back overtime thrillers, Owls fans finally got a chance to breathe easy as Kennesaw State dominated Tulane, 28-14.

QB Kedrick Humphrey had a quiet day - for his standards - by going 14-for-22 for 268 yards, three TDs and one INT. The Owls received a big performance today from backup RB Wade Small. Small, filling in for the injured superstar Maurice McNeil, had 21 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown on the ground and added four receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown in the air. It is the first time this season that one player was both the leading rusher and leading receiver for Kennesaw State in the same game.

The Owls controlled the game the entire way, jumping out to an early 7-0 lead and taking a 14-7 lead into halftime. Humphrey found TE Damon Harvey for an 18-yard touchdown strike near the end of the third quarter as Kennesaw State began to pull away.

The toughest game on the schedule awaits the Owls next week as the mighty Miami Hurricanes come to Kennesaw. The Hurricanes, a team with a lot of history and tradition, enter the game with just a 1-4 record but are vastly more talented than the upstart FBS program. Kennesaw State will again be without McNeil, who is expected to miss two more weeks with back spasms.

ANN ARBOR, Michigan -- It was a shock and awe trip for the Okra as they traveled to the Big House to take on the Wolverines. This one was no where near as close as the final score indicates as Michigan toyed with DSU for most of the game. The only way the Fighting Okra was able to keep the game close was by knocking out Denard Robinson early in the game and making Michigan fault in the redzone. Even with a subpar offensive showing from Michigan their defense was on point. The Fighting Okra will heal up next week on their bye.

Alabama A&M Out Duels Arkansas State

After failing behind 21-0 to the Indians the A&M Bulldogs came roaring back to tie the game at 21 all going into the 4th quarter. Fortunately for the Bulldogs they were able to win the 4th Qtr 14-12 and pulled out a win that earlier in the day looked impossible. Sadly the A&M defense continues to make mistakes in coverages and miss tackles allowing the opposing offenses to run up and down the field. But fortunately for the A&M faithful the Bulldogs offense has been up to the task and continues to improve and expand in their first season under the raid system.

Denver Picks Up 1st FBS Victory

Denver, CO - It's been a rough start to the first FBS season of the Denver Pioneers, but they were looking to right the ship coming off of a bye week. They faced a tough challenge from the Cowboys of Wyoming that took a 1 hour bus ride down to Denver for the game. Wyoming's no huddle offense was giving Denver fits early but injuries to their starting QB and RB helped the Pioneers out significantly. In the 2nd half, Denver's offense finally started clicking. They were able to move the ball on the ground and through the air to take control of their game and win their first game of the season.

Starkville, MS--"Execution, Execution, Execution," was Coach Tubb's response after being asked how his team defeated the #24 rankedBulldogs so easily. "We executed on both sides of the ball today," said Coach Tubb. The JSU defense held the Bulldogs to 0-11 on 3rd Downs. MLB Milton Patterson, who had 8 tackles (3 TFL), set the tone on defense by scoring a pick 6. On offense, QB Evan Ingram went 16/24 for 3TDs. However, it was HB Tommy Gooden 150 yards rushing on 27 carries and 3 TDs who stole the show.
