    Extra Points

    1. Florida State found a solid replacement

It's not easy to replace a Heisman trophy winner. EJ Manuel led the Seminoles to the national title game where they fell just short of a perfect 14-0 season when they lost to Texas A&M. But in his first start, freshman Jameis Winston threw for 3 touchdowns and no picks against #4 Arkansas. After a bye week, he'll face Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, and Duke followed by #18 Virginia Tech. By then we may know just how good Winston is. If he has a good freshman year, FSU could be headed to the championship again.

    2. Big Ten needs to step it up.

The Big Ten went 1-3 this week, with all 3 losses coming against the ACC. Yes, all 3 ACC opponents were ranked and 2 were in the top 10, but none of the losses were really that close. Sure, Minnesota only lost by two touchdowns but they also threw three interceptions. If they want to become an elite conference, they're going to need to win some of these out of conference games as an underdog. It should be pointed out that Nebraska got a good win over a ranked Georgia team, but the Bulldogs limped to a 6-6 regular season record last year and was outscored by 50 points on the season.

Clemson QB Tahj Boyd (vs Penn State) - 11/17 354 yards 4 TDs 2 INTs, 6 carries 23 yards 1 TD
Boyd is starting the season with a big day, scoring 5 TDs.

Texas A&M HB Ben Malena (vs Baylor) - 24 carries 157 2 TDs
A&M had the ball nearly twice the time as Baylor because the senior averaged 6.5 yards per carry on 24 carries.

Florida State QB Jameis Winston (vs Arkansas) - 8/15 166 yards 3 TDs
His stats weren't great, but the freshman passed for 3 touchdowns in the first start of his career and it was against a top-5 team.

    Extra Points

    1. How good is the ACC this year?

At one point last year, the SEC West had 6 ranked teams. Right now the ACC has 5 ranked teams, but 3 of those are in the top 7. Florida State and Miami hold impressive wins over Nebraska and Arkansas and Clemson blew out Penn State. Looking ahead, Virginia Tech will have chances to knock off Florida State and Miami. Clemson and Florida State could be playing for the Atlantic division in week 12, while Miami and Virginia Tech could be playing for the Coastal division in week 11. Of course, we're only in week 2 and a lot can happen between now and then but that's how things are looking right now. The ACC again looks to have the best at ended the SEC's streak of 7 straight national titles. But then again, it looked like that last season and we all know what happened there.

    Texas A&M QB Jameill Showers (vs Oregon) - 13/16 342 yards 4 TDs 1 INT, 6 carries 39 yards
Showers averaged 21 yards per attempt and had 4 touchdowns. No need to say more.

Arkansas QB Brandon Mitchell (at Missouri) - 14/23 386 yards 6 TDs 2 INTs
Yes, he did throw 2 picks but 6 touchdowns in one game is pretty damn impressive.

    1. Rematch in the national title game?

Will FSU get revenge on Texas A&M in the title game this year? It could happen. I could see Florida State, Miami, and Texas A&M all being undefeated heading into the conference championship week (sorry Clemson and Arkansas). Miami's looking really good and they've probably got the best chance to take down the Seminoles, even though they are both playing with freshmen quarterbacks. Miami QB Chris Clark (3 games) and Florida State QB Jameis Winston (2 games) have each accounted for 9 touchdowns. Don't sleep on Clemson, though. They spread the ball around a lot and with Miami and FSU on the schedule, they could mess it up for someone and have a pretty special season themselves.

    1. Here come the Hogs.

After losing the season opener 24-15 to Florida State, Arkansas has won three straight over Missouri, Tennessee, and Indiana. They haven't been great opponents, but they've still got a 3 game winning streak going. Possibly the biggest test this season (other than FSU) is going to be the next three games. They play #11 Alabama, #3 Texas A&M, and after a bye have #23 Auburn. If they can beat Alabama and Auburn and upset Texas A&M, they should win the rest of their games and take the SEC West division. Then they're just one win from the SEC Championship and a probable berth in the national championship game. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, here. They've got to win the next three games first, including an extremely tough matchup with Texas A&M.

    Extra Points

    1. Jameis Winston could break records as a freshman.

Florida State is having another great season, but this time it's without E.J. Manuel. Redshirt freshman Jameis Winston has taken over the offense and is having a fantastic season. Through 4 games, he has already thrown 16 touchdowns. Assuming Florida State plays 14 games (with the conference championship and bowl game), he's on track to throw 56 touchdowns this year. The FBS record for most touchdowns in a single season is held by Colt Brennan, who threw 58 for Hawaii in 2006. If Winston continues to have games like this week (6 passing TDs) he could definitely break that record, and do it as a freshman. Even if he doesn't break that record, he's sure to break the record for passing touchdowns as a freshman. The current record was made by Sam Bradford, throwing 36 touchdowns in his freshman season at Oklahoma in 2007. Another record he'll probably break is highest percentage of passes for touchdowns in a season. The record is 11.6% and Winston's percentage is currently 15.7%. There are probably others, but I'm not looking through all of them. Want to find more? Go for it: http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/football_records/2012/fbs.pdf

    2. Welcome to a couple new coaches.

Well, there's one new coach and one coach that switched teams. MIZ_LOU84 took over a struggling Missouri team that went 4-8 last year, while Cocky Marine left Tennessee for Virginia Tech. VT never really reached their full potential last year, going 8-4. It will be a short honeymoon at Virginia Tech as they travel to Florida State next week, while Missouri hosts #18 Auburn. Good luck to the two coaches with their new teams.

He had 4 TDs on just 6 catches in 2 1/2 quarters. Amazing.

Penn State DT DaQuan Jones (vs North Carolina) - 4 tackles 4 sacks
The senior now has 7 sacks through 4 games. If he picks it up a little we could have a new NCAA single season sack record.

Clemson QB Tahj Boyd (vs Georgia Tech) - 18/26 441 yards 4 TDs 1 INT, 6 carries 17 yards
Boyd deserves some recognition for gaining almost 17 yards per attempt and tossing 4 TDs.

    Extra Points

    1. Missouri to the top of the SEC East?

After just two games it's a little early to tell, but the new coach at Mizzou is 2-0 including a big win over previously undefeated Auburn. The SEC West looks to be better than the East at the top with Arkansas and Texas A&M and with a 2-1 conference record, Missouri still plays 4 team in their division and is in complete control of their destiny at this point. Based on the numbers QB James Franklin put up this week, I'd say that the rest of the SEC better not take this new coach and the Tigers lightly.

    2. Top dogs of the ACC keep winning.

Florida State, Miami, and Clemson are all ranked in the top 4 of the coaches poll. Well, that's going to change next week. Clemson plays at Miami in a huge cross-division game this week. Because they're in separate divisions, the game won't be devastating for the losing team, but it will definitely give the winner a nice boost and keep them undefeated. For Miami, this is easily the toughest game of the year. They beat Nebraska earlier in the season and they do have Florida after Clemson, but none of those will be as big or difficult as this game (until they meet Clemson/FSU in the ACC Championship). I expect Miami to finish the regular season no worse than 11-1 at this point. Clemson's remaining schedule is fairly easy aside from a week 12 matchup with none other than top-ranked Florida State. I expect that game to decide the ACC Atlantic division and for Clemson to finish no worse than 10-2. If I had to make a prediction at this point, I'd say Miami will be 12-0, Clemson will be 10-2, Florida State will be 12-0, and Miami and Florida State will play the ACC Championship as the top 2 teams in the BCS standings.

    Extra Points

    1. Here comes Missouri.

SEC East, you have a new leader. Missouri is now 5-1 overal and 3-1 in conference and they sit at the top of the SEC East division with the win over Georgia. They should be ranked this week and all of their remaining games are winnable. Their 5 game winning streak is impressive, but if you look a little closer, the biggest win in that streak was 14 points over Eastern Michigan and the rest of the wins have been by 7 points or less. As long as the Tigers continue to improve, we could see an 11-1 Mizzou playing an 11-1 Arkansas for the SEC title. They played in week 2 and Arkansas won 56-28, but that was before coach MIZ_LOU84 took over.

    2. Do we have a new #1?

After their overtime win over Clemson, Miami jumped Florida State to take over the #1 spot. Miami will keep that #1 spot as they picked up another with this week. I'm sure Florida State coach BigKing will have his own opinion on that, but if FSU beats #21 Oklahoma this week and #6 Clemson in week 12, they'll most likely get to settle it on the field as the top two ranked teams (both undefeated) in the ACC Championship. For the sake of argument, though, let's take a look at their resumes. Florida State's biggest win this season was a 24-15 win over #3 Arkansas in week 1. Since then, all they've done is won 5 games with the closest being a 23 point margin and an average margin of victory of 32.4 points. On the season, FSU is averaging a 46-18 win. But outside of Arkansas, the only team they've beat with a winning record is Boston College. Miami's resume is very similar. Their biggest win was a 45-38 overtime victory over #6 Clemson last week. The Hurricanes have played one more game and are averaging a 46-20 win. The difference is that Miami has beat a few teams with a winning record including Clemson (5-1), Florida (4-2), Wake Forest (4-1), and Indiana (4-3). Both Miami and Florida State rely on a freshman quarterback to run the offense and both of them do it very well. Miami QB Chris Clark has thrown for 22 TDs and 4 INTs while FSU QB Jameis Winston has thrown for 25 TDs and 4 INTs in one less game. IF FSU beats Clemson and they both remain undefeated, it will be an exciting ACC Championship with a lot on the line as the winner will play for the National Championship.

    Extra Points

    1. Way to go, Miami.

Next week, we'll have two top-5 teams playing for the ACC Atlantic division when Clemson plays at Florida State. This was supposed to either push FSU to #1 or put Clemson in the top 2, all but guaranteeing that the ACC Championship would be #1 vs #2 for a chance to play for the National Championship. Well, #1 Miami had to go and lose at home to a struggling Virginia Tech squad who had a mid-season coaching change. I must say I'm shocked. Miami has been solid all season and they should have cruised to a 12-0 regular season record. But give a lot of credit to coach Cocky Marine for going into Miami and coming away with the win. Now, with just 3 regular season games left, it's going to take a lot for Miami to claw their way back into one of the top 2 spots. They need to beat the winner of the FSU-Clemson game in the ACC Championship and hope either #3 Notre Dame loses or #4 Arkansas doesn't win out and take the SEC Championship too. So I guess, in a way, we should be thanking Miami for making the race to the National Championship less predictable and more exciting.

Florida State QB Jameis Winston (vs NC State) - 16/20 422 yards 5 TDs 1 INT, 7 carries 20 yards 2 TDs
Winston looks to be leading his team to another shot at the national championship.

Missouri QB James Franklin (at Tennessee) - 19/25 512 yards 6 TDs
The numbers this guy puts up every week are crazy, and Franklin has thrown for over 400 yards in 4 straight games.

Arkansas QB Brandon Mitchell (at Georgia) - 13/18 285 yards 4 TDs
Mitchell threw 4 touchdowns and didn't turn the ball over in a close conference game.

#20 Virginia Tech easily beats #16 Arizona 38-3 in the Sun Bowl, ending the season on a four game winning streak.

Missouri wins a close win in the Music City Bowl over NC State, 31-28.

    Extra Points

    1. Nine in a row.

The ACC seems to have been the dominant conference the past two seasons with Florida State, Clemson, and Miami all being at or near the top of the polls most of the time. But the fact is still that the SEC just keeps winning national championships. With newcomer Texas A&M winning last season and Arkansas winning this season, it makes 9 straight national titles for the conference. Who will be the first conference to de-throne the SEC? Now that coach BigKing had retired, it seems a little less likely that the ACC will and the Big Ten has struggled the last couple years. All that aside, congrats to Arkansas and coach Raidernation, the 2013 BCS National Champions.

Texas A&M HB Ben Malena (vs Clemson) - 22 carries 144 yards 4 TDs
Texas A&M only threw the ball 5 times because Melana (along with Williams) was so effective carrying the ball.

Virginia Tech DE James Gayle (vs Arizona) - 6 tackles 5 sacks 1 FF
Gayle had a huge day and finishes 2013 with 15 sacks.

Penn State QB Paul Jones (vs LSU) - 18/26 356 yards 4 TDs, 5 carries 75 yards 1 TD
The Nittany Lions should have Jones next year and he threw for 23 TDs and over 3,000 yards this season.

We've lost alot of steam, alot of comings and goings as well. Things should pick back up soon, hopefully. I think when BigKing tucked his tall and avoided a national championship BEATDOWN things deflated a little. His sour may be the cause for the break in content.
