No user games and we were headed to Stanford but that one is already done so we'll head to Tuscon for this week's Pac 12 matchup between #15 USC and #23 Arizona. This game has a little meaning in the Pac 12 South. If USC stumbles that would create a four 1 loss teams. The Trojans have been up or down this season so coach Rockwell will need to have his boys prepare for this road trip. Just to recap a wild week we had, Arkansas remains #1 after the scare from the Gators. Arkansas jumped out to a 35-7 lead over the Gators but Florida eventually held a 42-41 lead in the fourth quarter. Arkansas connected on a 78 yard touchdown from QB Brandon Allen to HB Knile Davis to take the lead for the final time and hold on 49-42. South Carolina continues to fight close battles with Vanderbilt but as long as they win I guess it doesn't matter. South Carolina also remains undefeated and #2 in the nation with the 28-16 victory. Lastly in the SEC , Alabama had a scare of their own with Tennessee. It's never easy to go into Neyland Stadium and win and the Crimson Tide did just that with the 35-30 victory.
In the B1G, Wisconsin trailed 24-21 late in the game and turned the ball over twice in the closing minutes but the defense stopped the Hawkeyes & the offense added two late touchdowns to take the Iowa monkey off their back with the 35-24 win. Michigan had the late game last week but they snagged a 10 point victory over the Spartans in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines jumped out to a 14-0 lead and the Spartans scored 21 unanswered to lead 21-14 at the break but the Wolverines came fighting back to win 45-35. A lot of us had nail biters and the Buckeyes were right there also. The Buckeyes trailed 35-20 early in the fourth but 18 unanswered lifted Ohio State over Nebraska 38-35. Like we mentioned, Illinois loves to play down to their competition. They're flat out better then Minnesota but Illinois has a problem putting away opponents. The Fighting Illini fought all game long with the Gophers but a 10 point cushion created at the start of the 4th was enough to hold on to the victory 27-24.
OLut west in the Pac-12 all our teams came away victorious. Oregon absolutely killed Utah. It was payback and then some! The Ducks knocked off the Utes 56-28. USC comfortably beat Arizona State. Probably not a big of a win as they woul've liked but the 40-25 victory is enough to keep the hot streak alive for the Trojans. Coach ryalaman held off his old recruits. The game was a defensive struggle but Cal keeps climbing the polls after the 17-10 win over the Tigers of Missouri and finally Stanford knocked off another SEC team in that of Texas A&M. This week the Cardinal prepare to host #7 Notre Dame.
Not a lot of stellar matchups this week. Only two games with ranked opponents facing each other. However in two weeks we'll have the current #1 & #2 teams in the country face off. It's another 'Game Of The Decade" scenario. Oregon will need to be careful with UCLA, the Bruins are unranked but carry a shocking 6-2 record. Big rivalry matchup down in Jacksonville for the yearly Florida-Georgia game. Florida has had all the success recently against the Bulldogs so we'll see if they can continue that.
Elsewhere through the country their just aren't a lot of matchups that are intriguing. Only 3 total top 25 match ups this week so we most likely won't see a lot of movement in the rankings unless we get a handful of upsets. We're getting to the point of the season where it's make or break and we have some outstanding games coming the next few weeks, so let's get through this one ASAP.

Had the most BS call ive ever seen in NCAA. Arizonas kicker missed a long FG. My returner fielded it but he was on the end line. The game awarded possession to Arizona at their 30. Then they scored. Drive summary : 16 plays, 165 yards

Buckeyes Survive In Another Close Game
This week Ohio State traveled to Happy Valley to take on Penn State. The Buckeyes were coming off a last minute victory against Nebraska and came into the game looking to establish a quick lead against a team with a losing record. The game would start off well for the Buckeye offense as they took the ball down the field on the first drive to score a TD to take a 7-0 lead. The Nittany Lions would answer however with a FG of their own to make it 7-3 Buckeyes after one quarter.
Penn State would continue with the momentum in the 2nd quarter, first getting another field goal, then a 1 YD TD run by HB Bill Belton to take their first lead of the game at 13-7 with just 1:13 left in the half. The Buckeys would answer right back however as Braxton Miller would hit WR Chris Fields with a 64 yd TD pass just 23 seconds later to take back the lead at 14-13 with :50 seconds remaining in the quarter. Penn State would not be denied the lead at half however, taking advantage of a porous Buckeye pass D to get in position to kick a FG and go into the half with a 16-14 lead.
Ohio State would finally answer just over half way through the 3rd quarter with a FG of their own to take back the lead at 17-16. Then just before the end of the quarter, Penn State would strike again, this time with a 7 yd TD run by QB Paul Jones to take back the lead at 21-16 going into the final quarter.
For the 2nd week in a row, the heavily favored Buckeyes found themselves behind going into the 4th quarter. Looking to re-create the magic of a week ago, the Buckeyes set forth to get back the lead. This time the going would be much slower as the Buckeyes had to settle for a FG with 4:53 remaining in the game to pull the score to 21-19. After two 3 and outs for PSU and one for OSU, the Buckeyes get the ball back for one last try with just 1 minute remaining on the clock. A few short passes followed by a 46 yard connection between Miller and WR Evan Spencer gets the Bucks within FG range. Kicker Drew Basil then shows how clutch his is a senior and again shakes off an icing to kick the winning FG from 30 yards out as time expires to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat for the 2nd week in a row.
    Buckeyes
    QB Braxton Miller - 15/28 228 YD 2 TD 3 INT
HB Carlos Hyde - 19 carries 96 YD
WR Evan Spencer - 7 catches 119 YD 1 TD
MLB Curtis Grant - 7 Tackles 1 Sack
    Nittany Lions
    QB Paul Jones - 24/36 333 TD 0 TD 1 INT
HB Bill Belton - 19 carries 47 TD 1 TD
WR Allen Robinson - 5 catches 85 YD
MLB Glenn Carson - 6 Tackles 1 INT 2 FF

    Wisconsin Survives Another Road Scare

If you don't want to read all this, you can go to the bottom and watch the highlight video I put together

Lincoln, NE -- After the scare in Iowa City last week, the 10th ranked Badgers were on the road again to face the Huskers of Nebraska. Wisconsin handled Nebraska last year in Madison so redemption was definitely on the minds of the Husker fans & players. The game started terrible for the Badgers as a simple dump off to running back James White in the flat but White was leveled by corner Ciante Evans who forced the fumble and recovered it. The play was called dead as Evans recovered thankfully for Wisconsin because Evans was standing all by himself and most likely would've ran in for the score. The Badger defense stood strong though, after QB Brion Carnes kept a read option and ran inside the 10 yard line, Wisconsin stood Nebraska up on 3 straight plays to force a Mauro Bondi 23 yarder as Nebraska led early 3-0. Wisconsin's offense was going to try this again as they went on a long drive converting several 3rd & shorts to march deep into Nebraska territory. The theme of the day however would be dropped passes, a total of 6 dropped passes on the day would end up being costly for Wisconsin. After moving inside the 15 yard line, Wisconsin didn't go much further as they settled on a Drew Meyer 29 yarder to tie things at 3. Nebraska moved to midfield quick, mainly on a broken play as Carnes had what seemed like years of time in the pocket to hit his TE on a huge play as the TE came back to the QB after running his route. After the big completion though Wisconsin forced a punt after 3 unsuccessful plays from the Husker offense at the end of 1 tied at 3.
The Badgers went on another long drive to start the 2nd quarter and moved to midfield after several mid yardage receptions from WR Jared Abbrederis. On 2nd & 10 from the 38, O'Brien hit WR Isaiah Williams over the top of a LB and Williams ran away from the defense for the 38 yard score to give Wisconsin the 10-0 lead midway through the 2nd. Nebraska'a offense again wouldn't get much after 3 plays and Wisconsin would take over again . Wisconsin moved past midfield and facing a 3rd & 6 from the Nebraska 26, O'Brien hit TE Jacob Pedersen for the touchdown to give Wisconsin a 17-3 lead that capped a 10 play, 78 yard drive that chewed up over 5 minutes. Again the Badger defense forced a quick series from Nebraska and with 47 seconds before the half, Wisconsin was looking for more. The Badgers got as far as their own 42 yard line, with 8 seconds left they took a shot deep and WR Jared Abbrederis couldn't get any more open but O'Brien overthrew the receiver saving the Nebraska defense. With 2 seconds left, Wisconsin took another shot, this time to Jeff Duckworth who also got behind the Nebraska defense but again O'Brien was off on the throw and to the half they went up 17-3.
Nebraska opened with the ball and frustrated the Wisconsin defense as much as possible. a QB Keeper moved to midfield and as Carnes was hit he fumbled but recovered by the Huskers. On the next play a delayed handoff to Murat Kuzu moved past the Wisconsin 10. On a 3rd & 8 from the Wisconsin 12, Nebraska QB Brion Carnes found TE Jake Long on a drag route but he was tackled at the Wisconsin 4 yard line. With a 4th & 1, Nebraska went for it and was successful as Wisconsin sent the house a play action was easy as Carnes hit WR Kenny Bell in the endzone to bring Nebraska closer 17-10. Wisconsin took over and wanted to get the score back, a 10 yard run on first down by James White was called back on a hold. On the next play Jared Abbrederis dropped a wide open crossing route. On 2nd down Isaiah Williams dropped a catch over the middle that was well defended. On 3rd & 10, O'Brien forced another one over the middle that was intercepted by safety Harvey Jackson and returned to the Wisconsin 1 yard line. The Badgers came up HUGE when LB AJ Fenton blitzed and sacked QB Brion Carnes who fumbled but of course it was obviously recovered by Nebraska. On 2nd & goal, Wisconsin tackled Kuzu in teh back field even after a few broken tackles but a hold would force Nebraska even further back. On 2nd & Goal from the 16 yard line, Carnes kept a read option but didn't go far. On 3rd & goal from the 16, Carnes threw one into coverage and true freshman CB Jerry Wade picked off the pass for Wisconsin to remain leading 17-10. A few plays later on a 3rd & 3, O'Brien threw again to Abbrederis who dropped the reception, his 3rd drop of the game and Wisconsin had to give the ball back to Nebraska. On the punt, return man Kenny Bell returned teh punt to the Wisconsni 19 yard line. On first down, Carnes lobbed one up in the flat and WR Quincy Enunwa was able to snag it with a CB draped all over him. 2nd down read option went for a loss of 5, 3rd down pass from Carnes was a dropped interception by MLB Matt Borland so Nebraska settled on another field goal to trail 17-13. In the closing seconds of the 3rd, Wisconsin was unable to convert a 4th & 8 and gave Nebraska the ball to start the 4th down 17-13.
Nebraska faced a 3rd & 11 from the Wisconsin 31 and covered with another completion where the receivers finish their routes & come back to the QB as Carnes hit Enunwa at the 7 yard line. On 2nd down, Nebraska threw up another one for grabs and again Enunwa was able to snag the jump ball with a corner all over him to take the lead 20-17. Wisconsin needed to get going, dropped passes and dicking around had hurt the Badgers for much of the 2nd half. After converting three 3rd downs, Wisconsin took a shot, Abbrederis got in a tight window and O'Brien dropped it perfectly to put Wisconsin inside the Nebraska 10 yard line. On the next play O'Brien hit back up TE Brian Wozniak over the middle and into the endzone Wozniak went for the touchdown to regain the lead for Wisconsin. Nebraska's offense had found their mojo and they weren't done yet as they scored in about 3-4 plays. A big run from the back moved Nebraska to their own 37, a completed deep ball to Enunwa moved to the Wisconsin 20 yard line and another hand off to Kuzu who bounced off a few Badger defenders went in for the score as Nebraska regained the lead in less then a minute 27-24. Now it was Wisconsin's turn, on first down a quick slant to Jeff Duckworth was good for 11 yards. The next play, O'Brien hit Williams over the middle for another 15 yards to move past midfield. The offensive line would take the play off and leave O'Brien for dead on the next play as he was sacked by about 5 Husker defenders to create a 2nd & 16. Another over thrown pass moved them to a 3rd & 16, an offsides penalty helped with 3rd & 11. O'Brien had a wide open receiver over the middle but was hit as he was throwing and the pass was off target forcing a 4th & 11 with 2:23 left at the Nebraska 49, O'Brien made Nebraska jump offsides but snapped the ball and took a shot down field with the penalty coming, however Nebraska left white boy Jared Abbrederis open and Abbrederis hauled in the 49 yard score to give Wisconsin the lead once again 31-27.
Nebraska was lucky as on the kickoff, the return man fumbled but Wisconsin was unable to jump on it. At the 20 yard line, Nebraska had 2:10 left to score. Running back Murat Kuzu shook off two tackles to move to the Nebraska 36, a 1st down sack by DT Chase Rome backed things up, on 3rd down a MLB blitz allowed Matt Borland to sack Carnes for a 3rd & 25. On 3rd down, Carnes hit Kenny Bell for 18 yards and on 4th & 6 hit a wide open Jamal Turner to convert first down and move to the Wisconsin 49 with 0:54 left. A double move got TE Jake Long open and that moved Nebraska to the 33 yard line. Another quick slant to Enunwa got to teh 25 yard line. After a spike, Carnes faced a 3rd & 3 and the Badger defense came up huge with great coverage allowing DE Tyler Dippel to sack QB Brion Carnes and Carnes fumbled and Wisconsin's other DE Pat Muldoon was all over it. O'Brien knee'd the Badgers to victory to escape Lincoln, 31-27.

Nebraska is tough, not sure how their record is so bad.

Love the "teach me how to bucky"! I still remember when we went to Wisconsin for the OSU-Wisc game, we went with some Wisconsin fans from Ohio, and when we got back to their van, someone had written "bucky f'd your mom" on it. We still laugh about that all the time.
