San Jose State wins its fourth in row and is now 4-0 in WAC play, 4-5 on the season, beating Hawaii at home with a FG at the end of regulation. Final score, 48-45. Not a lot of defense was played in this one. The Warriors were able to move the ball up and down the field, throwing for well over 500 yards. The difference in the game were turnovers...the Spartans had none, while Hawaii threw 2 picks, one of which came in a 45-45 game with just under a minute to play. That set up the game winning field goal. SJSU needs to win 2 of its final 3 for that magic 6-6 mark...Idaho, Nevada and Fresno State still stand in the way!

I think you have a good shot at winning the WAC. Slow start but a strong finish for the Spartans.

Fresno and Nevada are going to be tough...I have never beaten either on the road. I think I get Nevada at home and go to Fresno so that could be the game for the WAC title. Idaho should be a win now that coach cougs took off for WSU and they brought in the option of all things :)

    Houston 17
    Tulane 34

Houston plays well in the first half, giving Tulane a wake up call, 10-9 at half. The Green Wave plays much better in the second stanza, controlling both side of the ball. QB Eliot Gaines threw for over 250 and 2 tds in the win. WR Mark Ervin went over 100 yards receiving again and caught 1 td.

San Diego State holds on to beat Colorado State 38 to 28.

This game was insane with San Diego State QB Jake Bernards throwing 5 INT including 3 of them inside the redzone and backup QB Clark throwing another INT when he came on for relief of the injuried Bernards. Still three fumble recoveries and some stout defense kept Colorado State from putting up too many points. Returning for the first time since his week three injury, senior HB Ronnie Hillman rushed 20 times for 136 yards and 3 TDs including a 47 yard shotgun sweep rush for a TD. Both star senior WRs turned in big games as well with Nicholas hauling in 7 receptions for 183 and a TD and Denso bringing in 7 receptions for 130 yards. Despite those amazing performances the 6 INTs by Aztec QBs combined with 8 allowed sacks by the offense line almost cost them the game. The defense came through with a number of key stops to keep Colorado State from cashing in after numberous turnovers even with Colorado State HB Clay racking up 179 yards on the Aztec defense.

At one humurous point in the 3rd quarter Bernards threw a pick only to have the Aztecs force a fumble on the Colorado State defender. Bernards then through another pick on the very next play and again the Aztecs forced another fumble that Hillman ended up returning for a TD. The game was insane with Colorado State defenders making many amazing INTs include two that just pissed me off. These were one handed INT grabs from defenders initially breaking the opposite direction of the WR but still getting enough vert to jump back against momentum and undercut the WR route.

Still a in is a win and next week San Diego State heads to Air Force to take on the military.

After the game coach Osiris Monster had this to say. "We played like shit. 6 turnovers and we still won. I promise my team won't feel like we won next week during practice though. Still nice to see Hillman play like he did. Good kid and a great addition back into the lineup."
