Cal's defense dominated this game. The defense forced five turnovers, 2 fumbles by QB Connor Halliday, both fumbles were returned for touchdowns. The defense also forced three interceptions by Halliday as well. Cal's defense forced constant pressure sacking Halliday 7 times, while knocking down passes and hurrying throws. Cal built an insurmountable 35-7 lead early in the third quarter. But the Cougs would fight back to make it a game. Halliday threw four touchdown passes all to Marquess Wilson to pull the Cougs to within a touchdown. The Cougs had a chance to win the game, there was no way in hell this game was going into overtime. But on the Cougs first two plays, they were called for holding, and then on 1st and 30, Halliday threw a horrible pass which was intercepted.
I am now approximately 0-93 vs. whygodwhy1111
I had a good start and then botched it. My wife asked me to look at something on the TV, and I looked away. I looked back to late to call a fair catch and my punt returner fumbled it and it was returned for a TD. The next series ended with a fumble and short field that lead to another TD. It went from 21-9 and possession of the ball to 23-21 in about 50 seconds. Good game, though whygod. Maybe I can lose to you again in the conference championship if you get by Tulane, and I get by UAB.
Rice Wins a Shootout with key turnovers.
Memphis came out hot, going up 21 to 9 with 3 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter. Then all hell broke loose. Memphis forced a 3 and out but fumbled the punt return for a Rice TD with 2:10 remaining in the second--Memphis 21, rice 16. On the next offensive play the rice QB fumbled which was converted into a Rice 19 yard rushing TD with 1:21 left in the second quarter--Memphis 21, rice 23. On the next play Rice connects on a 80 TD pass with 1:06 remaining in the 2nd quarter-- Memphis 18, rice 23. Rice comes back with a 54 yard TD pass with 0:36 remaining in the second quarter--Memphis 28, rice 30. Memphis threw a pick on the next play. Rice converted that into a 40 yard FG as time expired in the first half-- Memphis 28, rice 33. A 45 point second quarter, with 31 points inside a 130 second window.
After Memphis took the lead in the 3rd, Rice closed out with a 21 - 7 4th quarter to get the win.
A crazy game of ups and downs, Rice winning the turnover battle 6-2 proved to be the difference.
HB Fields took the opening kickoff for 6, and that's all that was really needed. But the Eagles seemed to give anything the Broncos wanted, not putting up much of a fight.
#14 Western Michigan 49 - Eastern Michigan 3
Put one in win column for the Spartans as they down Utah State 48-10...ah feels good to be 1-5!
I transfered you the commish...i figured you were at the firehouse today so when you play tomorrow, go ahead and advance us to week 9. Kent State is on AP and everyone else is done. Thanks man.
Ok, I will try to knock it out this afternoon.
Sounds good...I was just taking a chance you would get it done before I got home from work. No worries if you can't.
That Utah State team beat my Aztecs eariler this season. Part of why the old coach got the can and I got hired.
Yep they sucked! Thank god for crappy WAC teams...may be able to salvage the season if I can beat Nevada or Fresno State!
McHargue leads Rice to victory
Rice pulled away late thanks to a huge day from qb Taylor McHargue who threw for 523 yards. McHargue has blossomed under coach Y. GodWhy run and shoot offense.
QB Eliot Gaines threw for 340 yards and 5 touchdowns. HB Orleans Darkwa scored once and rushed for over 100 yards, but was lost for 7 weeks....just as we enter our conference user game gauntlet.
