    Colorado Buffaloes Season Preview
    Changes
The 2014 brings with a new head coach. justadude, a Colorado native, takes over the reigns determined to change the fortunes of the CU football program. Expectations are to receive a bid to play in a bowl game.
    The Team
Depth at HB, WR & CB is Colorado's strong point. Key players will be seniors QB Nich Hirschman & RB Trea Jones along with junior WR Martin Williams on offense. Leading the way on defense are seniors RE Chidera Uzo Diribe, MLB Lowell Williams & CB Jared Bell.
Lack of depth on the OL and LB postitions is a major concern for the Buffaloes going into the season.
    Season Outlook
The Buffaloes open the season against the CSU Rams in the Rocky Mountain Showdown for bragging rights in the state of Colorado. While games against Notre Dame and Oklahoma are certainly the highlights of the season, the focus will be to win against other non ranked teams.

    Oklahoma Sooners 2014 Team Preview
    Offensive PlayBook: Oklahoma
    Defensive Playbook:3-4
This Sooner team is stacked with talent on both sides of the ball and is looking to make a run for a BCS Bowl game.
    Offensive Leaders:
With Senior QB Blake Bell running the show The Sooners are in good hands, We also have to big play WideOuts JR Ryan Tremblay and SR Justin Mcay. The halfbacks are led SR Roy Finch who should get the bulk of the carries but there is a lot of depth behind him. The O-line is pretty good but we dont have much depth so any injuries to that bunch would be devastating.
    Defensive Leaders:
Are D-line will be one of are biggest strengths this year as we have multiple guys in the 90's and for some reason were sitting with 10 DE so depth wont be a problem, this group is led by one of the best DE in the country SR Perry London. The linebacker core is really solid led by SR Corey Nelson and now to the only glaring weakness on the defense CornerBack. We have a stud Senior Bernard Reid but after that its a couple of true freshman playing, Were are good at safety with some solid players.

    Week 1
Oklahoma Sooners defense dominates Tennessee in a big user vs user battle. The Sooners would win 28-10 forcing 4 INT's and holding Tennessee less then 150 yds of total offense. The offense would play well enough to win but still has some work to do as Blake Bell would throw 3 INT's of his own.

    How Sweet It Is...
Buffaloes stampede Rams in Rocky Mountain Showdown
    [IMG]
Trea Jones and Joe Johnson both eclipsed the century mark as CU jumped to an early lead thanks to the strong running game and the steady play of Senior QB Nick Hirschman. The Buffs offensive line consistently opened up huge holes which the RBs wasted no time converting into substantial gains. The receiving corps leaves something to be desired though dropping three passes, two of which should have been caught, one of those forcing a punt.
The most critical sequence of the game came after Trea Jones fumbled the ball away on the CSU 3 yard line early in the third quarter. The CU defense fought for every yard, but was not able to prevent the Rams from closing the gap to 17-7. Trea Jones responded by breaking a 80 yard TD run on the first offensive play after the Buffs got the ball back, only to have the TD and most of the yardage called back on a clipping penalty. Undaunted, Nick Hirschman hit WR Martin Williams on a play action pass and on the very next play RB Joe Johnson finished the drive by taking it 41 yards up the middle.

Defense helps Colorado edge Fresno State
When Bulldogs halt stampede, Buffaloes take to air
    [IMG]
Tavares Hawkins picked off a second quarter pass and returned it for a TD, while LE Jovon Wagner had 2 sacks, one on fourth down, ending a Bulldog drive deep in Buffalo territory. Then the Buffalo defense rebounded from a rough third quarter where their 17-6 lead evaporated into a 19-17 deficit, by forcing the Bulldog offense to go three and out and turn it over on downs in the fourth quarter.
The ground game, which carried the Buffs last weak, was held in check for until CUs last two drives. While Colorado did not give up on the ground game, QB Nick Hirschman and WRs Martin Williams and Brad Thompson picked up the slack, moving the ball through the air.
Down 19-17, Colorado's offense, which had one poor series in the third quarter, responded by moving the ball down the field for the go ahead score, a 7 yard run my Trea Jones. After the defense force Fresno State to punt the ball, the CU ground game finally got going, with Trea Jones and Joe Johnson moving the chains while chewing up the clock on a long drive that ended in a FG, forcing Fresno State to use up all of their timeouts.

The Longhorns get their first win of the young season and do it in exciting fashion. After a tough loss to Iowa in their first game of the season, the Longhorns came back strong taking care of a weak Nevada team without much trouble. This game also served as the coming out party for HB Traylon Shead, From the get go Traylon took control of this game and never let it go running for 304 yards and 5 Touchdowns.

Next week the Longhorns will make the short trip to Houston to play Rice in what shouldn't be much of a challenge for this promising Texas team.

After a couple of cupcakes for Sooners, Boise State is coming to Norman to renew some old acquaintances. We all remember the hook and ladder and statue of Liberty play in the Fiesta Bowl, so we'll have to see what the Broncos have up there sleeve when they come to Norman.

Notre Dame hands Colorado first defeat
Buffaloes fight to the finish, but can not beat Irish
    [IMG]
To begin with, let me say thanks to goose for what was a very fun and fairly played game. Great play-calling and execution.
There was really no stopping Notre Dame, whose unconverted third down attempts came late in the first half, resulting in missed FG and on the final play of the game. The Irish offense took care of business, ending long possessions with TDs to take a 21-0 lead. The Buffalo offense took too long to find its rhythm, crossing midfield halfway through the third quarter for the first time, gaining confidence on a gutsy running play converting a 3 & 5 on inside the 10 into 1st & goal en-route to their first TD. By then it was too late.

    Colorado improves to 4-1
Beats conference rival Missouri with help of turnovers

In what was one of the more important games Colorado is to play this year, the Buffaloes relied on three quarters of tough defense and one quarter of big offensive plays. With the exception of the second quarter, only the Buffalo offense was able to produce 6 points, two field goals. Both offenses came briefly alive in the second quarter to score three touchdowns each.
Big 12 North foe Missouri turned the ball over 3 times. The first interception was returned for a touchdown, the first points of the game. The second pick lead to the last points of the game, a 44 yard field goal. Sandwiched in between those was a vicious hit by senior free safety Terrel Smith that force a fumble he recovered. The fumble was crucial, ending Missouri's second drive in the third quarter deep in Colorado territory.

    Colorado loses to Baylor
Overconfidence, poor play calling and red zone turnovers lead to loss
    [IMG]
(Really busy with term papers atm, so I will only list my thoughts)
    - Came in overconfident
    - Running game worked well early on
    - Baylor offense ran / passed at will
    - Gave up on run too early, down only 13 - 7
    - CU WR where able to slip coverage consistently
    - Multiple drops by best WR when wide open
    - Endzone / Redzone picks hurt
    - down 33 - 14 CU was able to rally to within 5 points
    - Baylor RB broke 19 tackles on 27 carries

Good win man. I think I might have the worst QB in football but otherwise it was a great game.

Lol maybe we both have the worst QBs in football.

Drunken, I think you probably would have beat me anyways you had instant pressure on my QB pretty much anytime you wanted to rush.
