    Pitching Rotation

    1) James Shields. Last season went 14-9 with a 3.48 era He will be the Ace of the Chicago Cubs staff and rumor is they are looking into a long term deal to lock him up for many years.

    2) Chris Capuano. Went 10-9 with a 3.46 Era playing for both Dodgers and the Cubs. He struggled coming over to Chicago going 5-4 with a 4.02 era.

    3) Gio Gonzalez. Struggled last season going 11-16 with a 4.80 era. Hoping that he can turn it around this year having a real strong defense behind him.

    4) Doug Fister. Did horrible in his time with the Cubs. Was great for the Tigers and if he can pitch like he did for the Tigers he will make this staff that much better. With the Tigers last season he was 9-3 2.57era but with Chicago he went 3-6 5.58 era. He has a strong defense behind him so hopefully will bounce back and pitch well.

    5) Mike Minor. After a 13-3 2.86era in 2012 he struggled last season. Atlanta and the Cubs decided to take and make a deal and hope for change of scenary would help. It didnt pan out well he was 3-7 4.74 era with the braves barely improved with the cubs going 3-7 4.04era. At #5 if he can go and pitch like 2012 this staff will be one of the top staffs in baseball.

    Lineup

RF Andy Seath will lead off for the Chicago Cubs. Speed and Defense is what he is all about. He is one of the Elite base stealers in the league in 53 games last year he had 13 sb and 0cs. He just needs to be able to get on base more and he will be a very scary lead off man.

Ben Zobrist is batting second and had a real strong year last year. He hit .319 10HR and 41RBI in his 74 games for the Cubs. Coming back to his home state in the middle of last season and hoping for him to keep up with the bat and he also is strong on the defensive side as well.

The Future is batting 3rd. Rizzo had a real strong year last year His 1st full season with the Cubs. He hit .284 33HR 97RBI. If he can just keep up with those numbers the cubs have a chance to go places this season. Possibly a mvp candidate if he plays to his ability.

In the cleanup role is Steve Clevenger. He had a real strong year for the cubs in 108 games. He hit .333 8HR 7triples and 44rbi. Napoli is the backup catcher and any sign of playing poorly Clevenger could be on the bench. Can he keep Napoli on the bench this season.

Brett Jackson who was actively shopped this offseason was pulled off the trade block just today. He needs to prove he belongs as he will be getting the nod of Gomez in CF. He had a decent year last year but injuries kept him from being a big productive guy. If healthy he can be a dangerous player for the cubs. Like most of the team he is strong defensively and Cubs are putting together a strong defense behind the pitching staff. He has speed and is hitting 5th could move to the top of the lineup if he stays healthy and has a strong showing.

Adrian Cardenas Playing 3rd and batting 6th in the lineup. He hit .275 last season and played a decent 3B. Taking over for an upset Stewart. He played 2b also but was moved to 3rd after the signing of Zobrist and he didn't complain and took over 3B. He will get the nod this season on the hot corner.

Batting 7th is Chris McConnell he only hit .256 for the cubs last year but he is out there for defense. One of the best defensive SS in the game makes anything he hits a plus

Batting 8th is the guy who just signed a FA contract yesterday. Zoilo Almonte and is playing LF. He has had no major league experience and is more of a guy brought in for defensive purposes. If he does hit its a bonus. With him added to the mix the Cubs should have one of the top defenses in mlb this season.

The start to the Cubs season was pretty good. A 5-2 start isnt bad considering losing Rizzo for the season in Spring Training. What went so well was the bullpen and it pitched top notch this sim having a 0.57 Era as a team. The pitching staff itself pitched really strong allowing 20 runs total and is the top in the league at this point. 2nd best defense to start of with also is key to this teams success.

Rizzo's replacement rookie Mike McCormick has started off well hitting .367 1rbi 3sb and was caught stealing once.

Steve Clevenger is starting off strong and looks to continue on his season from last year right now he is hitting .364 1hr 5rbi

Cubs are currently in 1st place 1 game ahead and if the pitching staff can hold up this team may just be able to shock the NL.

Cubs continued to play well in the 2nd sim of the year and they went 7-2 and continued their hot streak. The cubs have the top SP era and the #2 BP era. What has been amazing is the fact they have given up the fewest runs and the closest team to them right now is 15 runs. They also are #1 in defense.

Capuano has pitch superb so far jumping out to a 4-0 1.26era

    Gio Gonzalez is 2-1 1.74era

    Shields 2-2 2.17era

Offensively the only category the cubs are out of the top 5 in is HRs.

Sim 3 is going tonight so will see how it goes. Could Capuano make a run at the CY Young?
