    2014 Duck Digest

    #19 Oregon: 42
    #10 Arkansas: 24

The Ducks pulled off a season opening shocker of the 10th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks earlier today. Coach Hood’s squad came into this one unsure of what it had for this season, but now it would appear as if the sky is the limit for these Ducks.

Oregon jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead behind a strong running game and an INT by LB Eric Woods. Arkansas struck right back quickly tying the game back up at 14 after two very nice drives driven by a strong aerial attack. The crowd was once again a factor but QB Nic Clarke led Oregon back down the field on a very efficient drive, punching it in for the TD with 5 seconds left in the half, 21-14 Ducks.

Arkansas received to start the second half, but it was the Ducks that struck first. On the first play of the half Arkansas ran the option and the pitch was picked and taken to the house to put Oregon up 28-14. The Hogs did not go away though. Another nice display of passing pulled them within 7, and a late 3rd qtr FG made it 28-24.

The Ducks though were determined to not blow another 4th quarter lead, something they did twice last year. Clarke connected with Xavier Parker for a TD early in the 4th and a 33 yard TD pass to Parker under 2 minutes later after another turnover broke the will of the Hogs.

It was a very impressive display from the Ducks. The offense was very efficient, they never turned it over and Nic Clarke had his best career game, he played much better than he did late last year. The rushing attack was effective as well, and the defense came up big. This defense features two true freshmen and only two players rated above 90, but it stepped up big on this day.

Up next is a home game against Coach CP3 and the Northwestern Wildcats, Coach Hood promises to not let this 1 be a trap game for us, we will overlook no one.
