Coming off of a ten win season, the Nittany Lions are looking to conquer imminent growing pains, and win some contests in the Big Ten during a rebuilding year. Without surprise, the core of this Penn State team is once again the Linebackers, led by Senior Mike Hull and promising Sophomore Dwight Holley. Boasting a strong defensive line and a deep secondary, the defense is what will keep this team competitive down the stretch. Look out for Sophomores Matt Dingle (DE) and Pedro Turner (SS) to make an instant impact. With a brand new offensive line and no more Silas Redd, the Nittany Lion offense will have to do some soul-searching if they are to score points this season. Senior Tightend Kevin Haplea is one of the best in the nation, and having his skillset and leadership will help as this O-line gels. Sophomore Tightend Brad Lacey is huge; a 6'7 monster with good hands, so look for this squad to go in two TE sets frequently. Senior Quarterbacks Robert Bolden and PJ Jones will battle for the starting job, and both have skill and experience. With speedsters Michael Johnson and Bill Belton returning in larger roles, this offense has potential for greatness, as long as the O-line progresses and stays intact.
