    2014 Playoffs
    League Notes

The playoffs haven't even begun and we have already seen controversy:

The Colts are left out of the playoffs, as three teams finish 10-6. This reminds teams every year to never leave it in doubt and always put away the teams that you have won but somehow lose the game. The Colts will have a tough time watching at home as they could be in this years playoffs.

Whoa... The NFC is stacked! They come into the playoffs with a stronger overall group of teams, will that prove itself or will the mighty fall. Every one's record resets and if you take the number in the L column, you are leave the season feeling empty and what could have been.

Patriots beat Chargers in Overtime Classic: 20-17
    [IMG]
In what was a game for the ages, the New England Patriots were able to lead a comeback versus the San Diego Chargers and when an AFC Wild Card game that felt like the classic Patriots vs Chargers playoff games.

The Chargers received the ball to open the game and immediately started out strong, driving 80 yards over 8 and a half minutes to score a touchdown just about as the first quarter was ending. The Patriots knew they had a long and rough game ahead of them as they could neither stop the run or the pass.

The Patriots looking to respond were unable to do so, as the offense was not able to click. Stevan Ridley struggled to gain yards and Tom Brady was looking trivial on the field. After a couple punts the Chargers controlled the ball at the end of the 1st half and were able to take a commanding 10-0 lead at halftime as they're offense was rolling and the Pats were accomplishing nothing. To make matters worse, everybody's favorite return-man/receiver Percy Harvin suffered a torn labrum and was knocked out of the game.

The Patriots received the ball to start the 2nd half and opened with a strong drive. Ridley was finally able to get some gains on the ground, opening up the field for Brady. The Patriots were able to score late into the 3rd quarter making the game 10-7.

But the resilient Chargers showed why they won the AFC west and were able to drive right back. Scoring right at the beginning of the 4th quarter giving them a 17-7 lead. The despair of being eliminated finally sunk in for the Patriots as they felt like they had no chance to come back in the game. But with a few big plays by Brady, the Patriots took a 4 minute drive down the field for a touchdown making the score 17-14 with 5 minutes left.

As the Chargers had the ball, looking to gain first down after first down to seal the deal, Brandon Browner was able to make a tremendous play and pick off Phillip Rivers, giving the Patriots a chance to tie or win the game. And with 52 seconds left, Stephen Gostkowski was able to drive it home for a 20-20 tie.

For the second game in a row, the Patriots were headed to overtime, and once again they lost the toss. However, unlike the Bills game, the Patriots were able to select the correct wind side, which became a huge factor. The Chargers received the ball and methodically drove down the field and surely looked to be on the verge of winning the game. Safely in field goal range, the Chargers went for a pass play on 3rd down and a huge sack was able to take Rivers back to the 30 yard line. With the 11 mph wind swirling in their face, the Chargers elected to punt instead of going for the long field goal. Tom Brady then did what he's always done best. The Patriots drove down the field against the tough Charger defense and with 16 seconds left, Gostkowski was able to nail the kick and give the Patriots the playoff victory.

    Full Game:

Bills suffer a defeat on a big play, first down catch fumble and not completing an easy first down throw which EJ throws into the ground like he had a deal with the mob.
