Clemson's 2014 season opens with a heart breaking loss to the defending National Champs at home. Clemson trailed the entire game until late in the 4th quarter where they went up 24 - 23 with 2:09 to play. The Tiger D could not contain the talented Buckeyes however as they drove down the field to score the winning TD with 28 seconds remaining.

The Hokies handle business at home against a very fast LSU squad to improve to 1-0. Va.Tech QB Keith Brady, who is the nephew of Tom Brady, had to settle for short passes because of the Tigers getting tremendous pressure all game. Standout RB Danny Montgomery had a modest 24 carry 84 yard game with a score. The Hokie defense played a huge role on the outcome of this game they held LSU to 111 yards offensively, their only score came on a kick return by Jakhari Gore. The VT DB's picked off Jerrard Randle 5 times and collectively won game MVP honors. Coach Beamer added that his new assistant coach Russell, who also is the new defensive and offensive coordinator, called an excellent game on both sides. You might remember his stint with the Miami Hurricanes, it'll be interesting to see what the coach can do with more talent on both sides of the ball.

The #1 Tide took on the #7 Florida State at home and fell behind early but the defense woke up and stepped up and really came up with big stops to allow the Bama offense to get in gear. Florida State did all their scoring in the first quarter and took a 7 pt lead going into half, but the Tide came out and tied it up and never looked back. The defense made some half time adjustments and locked down FSU to hold them scoreless the rest of the game. The Tide pounded the ball and made some key play action passes to keep the Seminols off balance and a late forced fumble on a kickoff recovered by the Tide to seal the deal for the Tide. Now the Tide look to take on the Texas Longhorns to mae their way through their tough schedule.

Fresh off of a thrilling 2013 Rose Bowl game, the powers-that-be decided to match up the Trojans and the Nittany Lions to open the season at the Coliseum and boy did they excite again! USC took a 14-0 lead off of a Glenn Butler fumble recovery and a George Farmer 88 yd td catch and it looked like the rout may be on, but Penn State came roaring back with a TD pass and rush from stud senior Rob Bolden to tie it up at 14-14. USC took the lead going into halftime 21-14, but the game was far from over. The Nits defense came up huge in the 2nd half and stifled much of what USC was trying to do on offense, as they were held to just 3 points in the 3rd qtr. Coach BigCudyCud then made an executive decision to bench starting RB Jed Hardy in favor of his former All-American Will Bradford, who added a spark to the offense gaining twice as many yards as Hardy with one less carry. The game was an absolute turnover-fest with NINE...count them NINE interceptions between both teams. After trading touchdowns and tied at 31-31, USC QB Max Wittek threw a fly route to flanker Marquise Lee which dropped in right over the CB for the game winning touchdown, giving USC its first 1-0 start in Overdrive (lol).

    Stats

    QB Max Wittek - 314 yds, 4td, 5 int
RB Will Bradford 15 car, 92 yds
WR Marquise Lee - 4 rec, 144 yds, 2 td
WR George Farmer - 3 rec, 99 yds, 2 td

CB Patrick Hall - 2 int

SS Ray Rogers - 2 int

Wow, what a game in a place few know as "Death Valley" where the Yellow Tigers rule!! Both teams entered today looking for their first win of this young season, both teams needing desperately to show college football that they are back. It was not a fun game to watch and I believe at one point I saw the Clemson coach throw up in his mouth. Clemson's QB Cole Stoudt threw 4 INT's on the day to the sure handed LSU defense who never seemed to drop a pick. LSU's defensive coordinator dialed the blitz up alot today and sometimes to Clemson's advantage. TE J. Kennedy caught 5 balls for 133 yards, most coming on late downs.

The game would finally turn in the Orange Tigers favor with 4 to go in the 4th as Martavis Bryant caught a 27 yard TD pass from Stoudt to go ahead 14 - 13. It was the final score of the game. Clemson's D showed up today allowing only one TD and 2 FG's.

Utah won the holy war today at home against the cougars. Back and forth first half as the utes enjoyed leads of 7-0 and 14-7. Byu responded both times and i kicked a 19 yard field goal to close the first half. 17-14. Utah scored first to build a 24-14 lead only to watch the cougars score 10 straight to tie the game at 24 in the fourth qtr. The utes defense stiffened in the fourth and utah scored the last 10 points to win the game 34-24.

Well, Bama fans the Tide continues to roll as they survived another thriller after being down to the #17 Texas Longhorns and Coach Drweck. Coach Wreck had the Longhorns ready to play as they came to Tuscaloosa, and boy they were fired up!!! Alabama could not get the running game going at all in the first half let along stop turning the ball over, with Sims throwing 2 of his 3 picks in the 1st quarter. But the Tide’s defense held the Longhorns to 2 touchdowns and a field goal to at least try to contain the Horns from gutting the Tide. After a few half time personnel adjustments on the defensive side of the ball the Tide began to roll and held the Longhorns scoreless the entire second half. This allowed the offense to finally get their butt in gear and start to move the ball. The Longhorns got caught up with trying to jam the Bama run that it allowed some nice play action passes to develop that got the ball moving in a hurry. On the game winning drive the Tide took the ball manned up and ran the ball right at the Longhorns and the offensive line responded by opening holes and becoming human road graders. Alabama really ate up a lot of clock and only left Texas with 1-2 minutes left on the clock. The Tide kicked off and Texas brought the ball out to the 30 yard line. The Tide’s defense stepped up big and came up with a forced fumble recovery and ran the ball back to a touchdown but a holding call brought it all back and the Tide ran the clock out to win the game 24-17. Good Game Dwreck.

The 2014 Trash Talk Bowl finally commenced as coaches Raidernation and BigCudyCud had to put up or shut up after lobbing bombs back and forth when coach Raider was running the ship at the U. Coach Cudy recognized his error in the PSU game and decided to promote RB Will Bradford to first-string again, and boy did Bradford reward him. The Heisman Trophy hopeful started off the scoring with a 42 yard dash to the end zone blistering past the VT defenders. The Hokies responded with a big play of their own, a nice 79 yd td pass to their TE Christian French. What VT didn't expect to come right after was a 94 yd kick return for a TD from Patrick Hall (that's 2 in 2 games...don't kick to him). Va. Tech kept pace with the Trojans almost step for step until the very end of the half when USC went up 31-21 on a TD from Bradford and a quick FG from Heidari. The 2nd half was just all USC, they dominated on both sides of the ball and held the Hokies to just one TD, scored with a minute left in the game. Coach BigCudyCud was respectful after the game, and had nothing but praise for his players stating, "Coach Raidernation and the Hokies gave us a hell of a battle - I just don't think they were ready for the speed that this team possesses. Will Bradford will be your Heisman Trophy winner come end of the season, you can mark my words - finally these players are showing the potential that we knew they had when the scouts ranked them the #1 recruiting class of the 2012 season....watch out Overdrive."

    Stats
RB Will Bradford - 25 att, 202 yds, 3 td
    K Andre Heidari 3/3 fg 5/5 xp

Utah hosted the 23 ranked tigers looking to bounce back from last weeks lose to national ranked Iowa. The utes started strong taking the opening kickoff and driving for a early td. HB Radley scored from 5 yards out. After forcing a tigers punt, the utes scored another td on a 4 yard Radley run. end first 14-0. The second quarter was more of the same as the utah defense continued to dominate including stopping the tigers on a 4th and 1 deep inside my 15. The utes would add another another td with 1 minute left on a 7 yard td pass to Tonga. 21-0 halftime. Lsu finally got on the board mid third scoring a td on a 40 yard Gore run. Utah K Cummings would increase the lead to 24-7 late third on a 49 yard field goal. After being shut down for basically three quarters, lsu turned to the hail mary bombs scoring on a 69 yard pass with 28 seconds left. the tigers failed to convert the 2 pt. try and through three the utes lead 24-13. Utah, who ran great all game behind HB Radley, scored what they thought was the game clinching points on a 25 yard td run with 6 minutes left. 31-13. Lsu used the hail mary deep pass repeatedly(once on 5 straight passes) throughout the fourth to add two tds and cut the lead to 34-28 with 55 seconds left. Lsu kicked the onside kick out of bounds and Utah held on for a more convincing than the score showed win 34-28.

    Stats

HB Radley 26 rushes 186 yards 3 tds
    TE Tonga 3/39 1 td

USC was welcomed back into the friendly confines of the Coliseum to take on the Oregon State Beavers after a hard fought victory in Austin last week over Texas. The sold-out crowd witnessed another Pac-12 beatdown as this one was a laugher ladies and gentleman! Heisman hopeful RB Will Bradford stepped out of the tunnel, and into the scoring column with a 32 rush TD on the first series of the game. WR Marquise Lee followed that up with a 61 yd TD grab of his own, and not to be outdown world-renowed WR George Farmer followed him up with a 42 yd TD. Bradford scored two more times, in the 2nd and 3rd qtr as the Trojans coasted to a 45-10 victory to open up Pac-12 play. Will Bradford was incredibly bold in his post-game comments telling Erin Andrews, "Nobody wants to see us right now, NOBODY - who wants some???" Mr. Bradford is correct.....nobody :).

    Stats
    QB Max Wittek - 11/15, 194 yds, 2 TDs
RB Will Bradford - 19 att, 223 yds, 3 TDs

A wild game between these two teams came down to overtime. With Longhorns starting QB Conner Wood out 10 weeks due to injury, Redshirt Freshman Kenny Bennett got his first start and played great going 30-46 for 451 yards, 2 TD and 1 INT. He spread the ball out to 8 receivers with 6 of those receivers having 3 or more catches. It is a good thing he played as well as he did because the Longhorns struggled to run the ball again with Tommy Fernandez rushing 15 times for just 55 yards. Look for a shake-up in the Texas backfield over the next couple of weeks. The defense came up with a great stop in overtime after Texas scored a touchdown to take the lead.

Coach Dwreck avenges the first game he played as the head coach of Texas which turned out to be a lop-sided loss to rival Oklahoma. This Red River Shootout was far from a shootout as defense dominated most of the game. Each team was held under 37% on 3rd downs and neither team had a 200 yard passer or a 100 yard rusher. Texas scored a few early touchdowns on long plays taking advantage of the crazy Oklahoma blitzing. One was a screen pass to HB Tommy Fernandez and the other was a quick pass to TE MJ McFarland in the flat that turned into a 75 yard romp. Lot's of recruits at this pivotal game so we will see what comes of it!

After the shocking decision of firing North Carolina's Head Coach, Everett Withers many Tar heel fans are scratching their heads what was the point of this many wondered? New head coach has emerged, Coach Duke came out of retirement to come coach a well talented Tar heel team. Duke threw out the west coast offense and installed his high potent Air Raid attack. Many of the fans didn't like it and even booed him as he ran out onto the field but he didn't pay any attention to it. Before the game a interviewer came over to ask Duke a couple of questions. "Sir how do you feel about this atmosphere, seems like the fans don't like what your doing to the team. How do you feel about that?" She asked? "Well long story short, I don't care about the fans, I'm looking at the roster and I have a great group of receivers and a strong armed accurate QB. I'm here to win not be anybodies favorite." Duke responded. "How do you feel about coming into your first game under North Carolina?" She asked. "I'm feeling pretty confident. During practice our players gave all of 110% and never gave up on anything. If they apply what they did in practice onto the field we will be the winners." Duke responded. "Good luck to you coach Duke." She stated "Thank you." Duke responded. Now at the coin toss Florida won the toss but chose to kick. Now it was time to see if installing the Air Raid was a smart move or not. North Carolina came out trying to run the ball early but man for the life of them they couldn't. So they stopped trying to fool Florida's defense and did what they were meant to do. Junior Quarterback, Marquise Williams came out with the hot hand completing his first 5 passes to his favorite targets T.J. Thorpe and Sean Tapley. Marquise Williams then hit his Tight end, Sean Fitzpatrick on a flag route as Fitzpatrick ran it down to the two yard line. The crowd was impressed on how well the offense was doing. Williams then handed the ball off to Travis Riley for a two yard TD run to put the Tar heels up 7-0 early. The Tar heel defense came into the game not being well known. They are ranked 66 in total defense out of 119 teams. Florida was led by senior Jeff Driskel and ran the pistol. The Tar heels gave up some big plays to Florida's Tight end AC Leonard who converted two big crucial third downs but the Tar heels were able to stop their drive and force them to punt. On the first play of the drive the Tar heels had little success on the ground yet again. On third and one the Tar heels ran a quick hitch but Williams saw Thorpe streaking down the sideline wide open so Williams threw it deep but he overthrows him but thanks to Thorpe's amazing athleticism he dives for the catch putting us on the two yard line making the crowd go wild. The Tar heels tried to give it to Riley for another TD but was stopped short. So Williams came out in the I-Form and threw a quick slant to Sean Tapley for a quick 2 yard TD pass putting North Carolina up 14-0. Florida's next drive boy did they kill the Tar heel's momentum moving the ball down our throats for a 11 play 85 yard drive for a TD. Putting them on the board 14-7. We are now into the second Quarter and the Tar heels haven't missed a beat on offense Williams was able to throw all over the Florida secondary once again to put us on the seven yard line. Williams came out in the I-Form again and threw a perfect pass to Jeff Kennedy on a fade route for a 7 yard TD pass putting us up 21-7. The Florida defense got hot yet again thanks to the arm of Driskel but they were stopped short at the goaline and had to settle for a field goal to make it 21-10. With four minutes left in the game North Carolina seemed to have hit a lump Marquise Williams threw the ball perfectly every time but drops hurt the Tar heels and they had to punt the ball. The Tar heels forced the Gators to go three and out and give us the ball back. But again the Tar heel offense struggled along with the Gators, we just traded possessions. With one minute left in the 1st half Marquise Williams threw a long streak to Jeff Kennedy to put the Tar heels in great position. Williams then hit Tapley on a flag route where only Tapley could catch the ball with 39 seconds left in the first half to put the Tar heels up 28-10. The Gators tried to fool the Tar heels by running a screen before time expired but was intercepted and returned for a TD. The Tar heels were now up 35-10. After halftime coach Duke decided to bring in his second team offense just to chew up the clock. The Tar heel defense play incredible shutting down the Gators in every facet. Ryan Gibson ran for two TD's which put the Tar heels up 49-10. But the Gators threw a deep streak to a speed receiver for a TD which made the score 49-17. The Tar heels tried to run out the clock but was stopped short with 1:32 left in the game and settled for a field goal which put them up 52-17. And that was the game.

    Marquise Williams- 17-24, 291 yards, 3 TD's 0 INT's

Jesus what a game between USC and Clemson in Death Valley, left coach C Young shaking even after the result was over! Coach clayandlbf gave the Trojans all they could handle in the game before the Pac-12 Championship. Sammy Watkins made his mark on the game early with a 77 yd TD catch to open the scoring for the Tigers. Watkins forced coach Young to double him for the majority of the game, afraid of the man's potential. This game was neck and neck until literally 2 minutes left in the game when, down 24-20, Clemson QB Cole Stoudt threw a pick-six to All-American CB Anthony Brown. Again awesome game coach Clay, and USC heads to the Pac-12 Championship Game with its National Championship hopes still in tact!
