The Longhorns finished the 2013 season on a high note beating #12 Oregon in the Alamo Bowl. Despite losing 22 Seniors and Junior HB Malcolm Brown to the NFL draft, Coach Dwreck will have more time on his hands to work with the players and might even coach every game. The loss of Brown, who was set to be the focal point of the offense, will mean that Senior QB Connor Wood will be counted on even more to lead the offense. Without a star on offense, Coach Dwreck will not have to worry about any one player getting touches, but will have to find creative ways to move ball. Expect lots of different formations to exploit the weakness of each defense. On the defensive side of the ball, the story is pretty much the same. Solid all around with no real stand outs. If there is a strength, it is up the middle with DTs Greg Daniels and Paul Lemon (93 and 91) and MLB Darrel Lloyd (90). The Longhorns are young with just 7 out of the top 25 players being Seniors this year. Some of the young-ins will have to step with a brutal out of conference schedule that includes home games against USC and Penn State and road games at Alabama and National Champion runner-up Florida State. However, if Texas can pull out a win on the road (albeit neutral field) against Oklahoma, they have a good chance of taking home the conference crown in the now round-robin style Big 12.
