Vikings D Stifle Stafford, Lions; Beat Lions 24-10 at Home

Minneapolis, MN - The Vikings & Lions both came into week 6 at 3-2, looking to keep pace with Green Bay in the tough NFC North division. This would also be WR Roddy White's debut in purple, as the Vikings added White during the week via trade from the Falcons to bolster their wide receiving core and give Teddy Bridgewater another weapon in the passing game.

After a 3 & out for the Lions, Minnesota would march down the field on their first offensive drive of the game, capped by a 6-yd TD run by AP. The Lions next drive would again end early, this time via an INT by Josh Robinson as Stafford tried to throw into triple coverage on 3rd down. The Vikings would capitalize on the turnover, Bridgewater hitting Cordarrelle Patterson in the end zone on a slant. Minnesota up 14-0 early in the 2nd quarter. The Lions would finally move the ball on their 3rd possession of the half, but Reggie Bush would take a pass out of the backfield, fumble on a user hit stick by LB Chad Greenway, and FS Harrison Smith would pick it up and take it all the way to the Lions 22-yd line. Teddy B would hit Patterson on the next play, who makes two defenders miss on a sweet spin move, and finds himself in the end zone for his 2nd TD of the game. The Lions would tack on a TD with just 8 seconds left in the half. Halftime score: Vikings 21, Lions 7.

The Vikings would start the 2nd half with a 6-minute drive, coming up with 3 points and extending their lead to 24-7. The Lions would respond with a nice drive of their own, but it would stall inside the Vikings 10 as DT Linval Joseph would record a key sack on 3rd and goal. Both defenses stepped up in the 4th quarter, and CB Xavier Rhoades would intercept Stafford on the 1-yd line as they were driving late to make it a one-score game.

    Final Score:
    Vikings: 24
