    Miami 42

    Duke 27

The Canes finally put one in the win column after a horrible start to the season. Our defense looked a bit better today but the secondary still struggled at times, often allowing a well covered receiver to make the catch. Our offense finally started clicking as well thanks to nice passing and Clements finally finding some space to run. He didn't get a score but several of his runs were key third down conversions. Freshman FS Travis Davis led the defense today with 10 Tackles (9 solo, 1 assisted), FR MLB Will Pierce did a good job as well, shutting down the HB from gaining too many receiving yards (Duke seemed to favor throwing to the HB). Not much else to say about this game except it was nice to finally put up a win.

Miami is now 1-3 (1-1) and could very well turn this season around. Next week is the dreaded matchup vs the Seminoles.

    Stats

    J. Young - 19/32, 390 yards, 4 TD, 7 rushes, 1 TD

    E. Clements - 23 Att, 92 yards

    D. Bass - 5 Rec, 158 yards, TD

    B. Weber - 4 Rec, 100 yards, TD

I would also like to throw Freshman K Dominique Penn up for possible FOTY nominations, he has only missed one FG this year so far and has made 21/21 of his XPs.

USC picks up another win in the Pac-10 thanks to a strong run game and strong defense. The defense was outstanding only allowing 163 yards of total offense. We did lose outstanding safety Washington for 6 weeks however. QB Stanley had a crappy game with 2 completions and 2 INTS, he did throw 1 TD to WR Prater. Baxter was the story of the game busting an 86 YD TD late to seal the win. His final total was 217 YDs rushing with 2 TDS. USC hosts a terrible Washington St team next week for the annual blowout.

The Wildcats simply are not a challenge at this point of the game. The Nittany Lions had a 49-0 lead going into halftime and pulled the entire starting lineup. Before halftime Bolden passed for a couple scores and ran a long TD. Penn State also scored twice on the defensive side, a fumble recovery TD and a pick six. After halftime William Keller was the only one to put up meaningful stats. He finished with more than 100 yards rushing, including a very long TD run. I think Michigan is our next match so that should be much more challenging. The Wolverines beat the Nittany Lions last season so revenge is one motive for that game. Top ranked Penn State also needs to win out to ensure its place in title game.

Georgia controlled this game from start to finish, jumping out to a 28-0 halftime lead. The offense racked up 414 yards. So QB Zach Brown threw for 264 yards and 4 TD. Sr HB Ken Malcome ran 13 times for 105 yards and a TD. Jr WR John Edwards had another big game with 146 receiving yards on 5 catches and a TD.Georgia's defense held the Volunteers to 69 yards passing.

Winless Vanderbilt rolls into Athens next week to face the surging Bulldogs.
