    2014 Week 7

We are now into week 7. We got 2 user games this week. Bravejaf is out of town until weds so you will pry have to schedule that game for weds night florida st.

Next adv will be weds night unless we need more time. Cnic also had to retire due to lack of time, should be back with us next year. I am looking for a new big 12 member as we speak.

    Game of the Week:

#2 Ohio St (Maslerboros16) @ #7 Penn St (Hokie effect)

Slider changes are now in effect as well so lets get some feedback on those this week for those with CPU games. I dropped CPU Run block and raised CPU pass defense.
    Good Luck this week

Oklahoma came out flat. For the second straight week we threw five interceptions. The inability to get a ground game going is having an effect on the QB's. They feel the pressure to carry the offense. After Sean Hunter threw five picks against Texas we decided to go with Joseph Culp at QB. That experiment lasted exactly one quarter as Culp threw 3 ints in the first quarter. The opening drive of the game was looking good until HB Stephen Houston fumbled in the redzone that was returned 92 yards for a TD. We would not have the lead all game until the last 15 seconds.

Once again WR's Mike Harris(8-137-3TD) and Andy Marks(7-168-0TD) was able to keep the Sooners in the game. They both made several clutch plays.

The turnover factory at OU must be stopped.

The fifth ranked Wolverines battled until to the end to come out Victors against the Gophers. 500 yards of offense given up by the Wolverine D was the result of poor tackling an big plays by Minnesota. Ken Marshall continued to be a consistent and dependable workhorse carrying the ball 25 times for 91 yards while sophomore return specialist and wideout Shane Lane racked up 196 return yards, including a spectacular 82 TD return in the second frame. The Nittany Lions will be the guest for the Wolverines next week at the Big House.

Sweet one handed interception in the end zone.

UCLA picks up its second win of the season though it was a bit closer than we would have liked. Up 21-7 and feeling good at halftime, UCLA gives up 21 unanswered points to the Huskies option offense. But the D buckled down when it had to and the offense scored the winning TD in the final minute of the game. A bye next week gives the Bruins time to gear up for the 2nd half of their schedule and a possible push for a bowl bid.

I don't see USC giving up the Pac 10 crown this year. From the ACC scores it looks like it is again VT's conference to lose. We will find out tonight at 7pm if Ohio State will strip the crown from Penn State. Not taking anything away from Michigan, but from the scores i just don't see it (Just giving you some bulletin board material). A user controlled Nebraska team should beat a cpu Texas team, but you never know because Texas is stacked.

    #1 USC 51
    Washington St 16

USC puts together another Pac-10 victory after taking out the wildcats for the 4th year in a row. The game was close in the beginning until the Trojans finally exploded at the end with some key INTs. They also got a safety in the 4th QTR after a perfectly placed punt was dropped on the half yard line. 3rd string HB hunter then broke a 30 yard Rush to set up another TD. USC had a nice running back by committee tandem led by HB blake who has 4 TDs and 63 yards rushing. USC continues to surge through It's pac 10 schedule taking on Oregon St at home next week.

As far as sliders go, I gave up a bunch of yards on the ground but I think that was mostly based on Washington Flex playbook. Still saw some instances where all of my defenders were floored by the O-Line but not as many as before. I'll keep a closer eye on it during my next few CPU games.

    Penn State- 38
    Ohio State- 21

Penn State wins the annual "Big 10 Championship " game against Ohio State thanks to some big plays and key turnovers. The Nittany Lions biggest play of the game came on a 99yd option pitch run by back up RB Brandon Brown. WR Brown hauled in a 58yd TD rec, CB Rob Mills had a 78yds INT return to set up a TD, and Corey Smith had a 65yd KR to set up a score. The Penn State defensive strategy was to take All-World WR John James out of the game. The Nittany Lions succeeded limiting James to 18yds on 2 rec. Up next for the Nittnay Lions are the undefeated Wolverines of Michigan in what will now be considered the "Big 10 Championship".

    Oregon - 38
    Cal -28

Oregon won the battle, but Cal handed out the most damaging blow in Oregon's 38-28 win over Cal. After rushing for 25 yards and scoring a touchdown on Oregon's first drive, senior RB Brian Perkins broke his jaw on his next carry and will miss the next seven weeks. His backup, senior Taylor Wilcox, ran for 91 yards and a TD. However, his fumbling problems which sent him to the bench last year have not gone away.

Both Oregon QB's (Minor and Jenkins) threw touchdowns while the defense accounted for four sacks and allowed just seven points in the second half.

The Red Raiders get a road win at Colorado 38 - 14. Despite receiving 5 phone calls during the game by people who clearly do not know the importance of the OFFL, Coach Harris kept his team focused and routed the Buffaloes.WR Greg Griffin blew the game open on the last play of the half, when Colorado set up for a long FG attempt to end the half. Griffin was standing in the end zone a caught the wide right kick, and took it back 107 yards for a TD to end the half.

Texas Tech moves to 5-1 on the season.

By the way, looks like CPU pancakes were cut in half this week. Colorado had 14 to my 1; the CPU usually has closer to 30. Colorado's HB averaged 4.5 per carry.

Miami Hurricanes grabbed a hard fought win against a talented Florida State squad. Leading the offensive charge was quarterback Austin who had more than 300 yards passing in this game. He did throw 2 interceptions in this game, both on forced passes to the endzone. The missed points almost cost the Hurricanes this game but Austin and the running game were able to drive the field after the Seminoles took a 1 point lead. The offense set up a field goal try and Hester drilled it down the middle. The defense played bend but don't break defense with under a minute remaining and Nixon stamped the ending with his 3rd interception of the game. The defense also forced and recovered a fumble in this game.

After the game 5-star free safety Kevin Arnold signed his agreement to play with Miami. He is a very smart player and could contribute next season if Richardson leaves early.

    Final score
    Miami 23
    Florida State 21
(I think that is the score, I know I won by 2 points)
