The franchise has been advanced and the Week 8 of the 2014 regular season is now open! Playing your week 8 game is allowed, but not required. The deadline for week 8 is Thursday 11/7/13 @ Midnight EST.

Off -Season trades are now closed until the conclusion of the Super Bowl. Teams that have yet to use their 2014 regular season trade, may still do so before we sim the rest of 2014 season.

Now that we have advanced into the regular season, all teams may now begin making contract offers to players in the last year of their contracts through the RE-SIGN PLAYERS option under the MANAGE ROSTER menu in the franchise. This is a highly anticipated change we made this year, to allow everyone more than one shot to get their impeding free agents locked up to a new contract. You will get one more opportunity with the advance to week 8, before we ultimately sim the rest of the season. MAKE THOSE OFFERS COUNT!

One thing that has been discovered. it looks like this season you may change an offer made to a player who shows as "Negotiating". In years past, you had to wait until the next advance to make another offer. That is apparently no longer the case this year.

I think the change to allow ppl more of an opportunity to sign their players and play a couple of games is a great addition! We also get to pack on a few practice XP points for our players..

Make no mistake.... players will still walk, but atleast you have the chance to negotiate with them with more than one offer before they decide they want to test free agency... (fucking Hankerson) but it's a nice break between the double-offseason to get other things done for your team!

The Cards are 5-2 on the sim season, and my owner funds are now positive 5.2M. We still have 4 more home games plus maybe a playoffs game or two, so its looking good for the franchise making some money at the end of the year.

The Cards are not offering any contracts to be on the safe side.

Browns looking good so far at 6-1. We were able to resign 10 players in week 2, some had big contracts, Rubin, Haden, Taylor and Qb Taylor. With 2 1st round picks the future is very bright.

Jags are staring at a top 5 pick in each round of the 2015 draft, if not the top 3. Willing to send the Jags picks from rounds 3-7 for a 2nd round pick. LLCoolGrey ;)

No need to get everyone excited about upcoming free agency. Both Mo Wilkerson (96 ovr) and Antonio Cromatie (95 ovr) resigned with the Jets. Wilk for 7 years, Cro for 1 measly season at 10 million. Asshat.

LtJustice Michael Overman CHUNKNESS just so i'm clear - internally we are allowed to offer guys as long a contract as we want? But in general free agency we have to offer the amount of years they request?

I don't care either way - just noticed lots of 7 yr signings internally and I know there was a mandate about free agency.

Mine didn't even give me an option to go 7yrs. It would only go 6. However if you go under player contracts it states 7yr contracts. Not sure why that is?

Re-signings may be made for whatever contract terms you can have your player(s) agree to. Free agency we are limited to the contract length that the player is seeking.

The contracts screen includes the current contract year with the total.
