The Atlanta Braves come off their World Series Championship with a strong team yet again, and have thus far put together a 5.5 game lead in the NL East. No surprise here, but the pitching has led the way once again, leading the NL in Runs Against, Starters ERA, and Strikeouts, and we're 2nd in Bullpen ERA. Danny Wood is having another monster season, and is currently on pace to hit about .310 with close to 40 HR and 40 SB. Our pitching staff has taken some knocks this year. Delgado is out for 6 more weeks, Venters for 7 more, and Cardenas and Gearrin are both out for 5 months. Joe Lucas, Wilson Rivera, and Mark Lamm have all gotten callups much earlier than expected, but are holding their own. Lucas has been particularly impressive compared to his expectations with a 2.49 ERA through 21 innings.
