    Introduction

So it's week 5 and I will be updating this thread every couple weeks with the latest and greatest MVP candidates as the college football landscape evolves. Please take the off-weeks, or any week for that matter, to shout out for one of your offensive and defensive players that you feel deserves consideration starting with this week.

I do my best to go through all of the season's stats and pull out your top performers that you highly depend on, but there will always be someone missed on my part so this is your chance to campaign for your players and make sure they catch my eye.

At the end of the season, I will be trying to narrow down the pool to five candidates on each side of the ball so the voting doesn't become too diluted.

    I second that.

I will check my defensive stats when I get time this weekend.

I've had 2 byes so far, so it might take a couple weeks to figure out who should be nominated.

No problem. I'm sure things will evolve as the season goes on. I'm hoping that part of it will make this process that much more fun and interesting than just throwing 5 names up at the end of the season.

LOL, no that wasn't my intention. I honestly can't say if his offensive players are good or bad. His defense is so good that his offense doesn't need to be productive.

I was saying that my offense sucks.

    (RS)JR QB Todd Price - 144.7 QB Rating, 74 of 142 for 1260 yds, 12 TDs, 7 INTs, 210 yds/gm
    (RS)SR HB Daniel Bryan - 94 car for 627 yds, 6 TDs, 0 fumbles, 104.5 yds/gm
    JR WR Jon Fields - 14 rec for 382 yds, 4 TDs, 95.5 yds/gm

I don't know who I want to put up for the defense yet, no one really stands out but overall the defense has some pretty nice stats.

Nobody on my defense has played well enough either, though they've done well as a unit aside from the first half of the OU game.

Only player who I could consider worthy would be my kicker, 11-12 with a 61 yard field goal, the miss being from like 64+ yards... but he's a kicker so he probably wouldn't win.

    Ohio State

It's tough to pick MVP players for Ohio State, as the balanced attack on both offense and defense doesn't lend itself to eye catching stats. Here are the current frontrunners.

    Offense
Jr HB Eddie Johnson - Johnson was a :5stars: recruit out of California, who was picked up late after the Buckeyes lost a recruiting battle. His low speed scared other coaches away. He has great pad level and has a habit of picking up yards after contact.

79 attempts for 606 yards and 8 TD through 6 games

    Defense
Sr DE Patrick Turner - Turner was an early commit :4stars: out of Bradford, PA. He has played every year he's been on campus.

    25 tackles, 16 solo, 11 TFL, 3 sacks through 6 games

Jr CB Tony Williams - Williams was a late signing for the Buckeyes. The :4stars: true Jr from Village St George, LA played nickel back as a freshman and has seen a good number of snaps every year since.

    23 tackles, 15 solo, 3 TFL 1 sack, 1 INT, 11 Deflections, 1 Forced Fumble

Once again Washington will not be sending a representative to the MVP awards.

This is much harder than I thought. We've got some good players to choose from. Keep pitching your players. If you pitched someone earlier in the thread and they're not on this list, if you feel they've continued to improve against the rest of the field, don't worry about repitching them.

Yeah, after I mentioned that nobody was playing worthy of an award, McLovin and Davis started playing pretty well. Since Seward has stopped dropping passes, his numbers have been very good as well. We'll see if he can continue playing well and get into the race.
