2015 Nebraska Cornhuskers Game Summaries The Cornhuskers kicked off the season with a home game against SMU. The highly touted Freshman HB Josh McBride from Nebraska made a big splash in today's game, starting the game out with a bang has he trucked up the field for 63 yards and his first college TD; unfortunately,he left the game early with a minor injury that would put him out for 2 weeks. Backup HB Jared Johnson did a nice job filling in, racking up 130 yards on 17 carries and 3 TDs. Before McBride's early exit, he had 129 yards on 14 carries and 3 TDs. Nate Holt will be Nebraska's starting QB this year, and went 10/15 on 167 yds, with 1 TD and 1 INT. The defense gave up a few big plays, but ultimately played lights out. They forced 3 turnovers. Nebraska now sets its sights on familiar foe Miami in week 2. Can they pull it off without McBride?
