UCLA (8-1) suffered a late-game scare against Arizona (1-7) in the 4th quarter, as the Wildcats nearly climbed out of a 17-7 4th quarter deficit to steal a win from the Bruins at the Rose Bowl. Arizona drove inside the UCLA 5-yard line and were looking for the go-ahead touchdown, down 14-20 with about 30 seconds left. However, it was UCLA CB Matt Lewis that made the play of the day, leaping in front of a Tony Burch pass into the endzone and returning it down the sideline 100 yards for the game-sealing TD for the Bruins.

UCLA remains undefeated in Pac-10 play and finishes the season with tough games on the road against Clemson, at Washington, and the season finale against rival USC.

The Hurricanes have adversity. They were down a 19-0 deficit and came from way behind to win 28-25. The Hurricane fans were itching and sitting at the edge of their seat all game as Notre Dame controlled the 1st half. Everyone knew that this little winning rampage was over tonight. They were wrong. The head coach must have said something during the half time break to motivate this team to win this game. Exhilerating!

QB Moore went 26-39 for 416 yards 1 pick and 1 td for a comletion percentage of 66% and rating of 159.6.
HB Howell had 31 attempts for only 87 yards but made up for it with a td reception.
TE Brown had a season high 11 snags for 212 yards.
WR Swain had 7 receptions for 131 yards and 1 TD.

I couldn’t get much going until after halftime but the offense did look better than usual. Navy passed for over 250 yards and receivers besides Matt Stone were able to contribute. Navy rushed well as Shelton Spencer ran for 129 yards. They will welcome back starting HB Corey Norman for next week’s game. Navy’s defense was awful the 1st half but ended up having a decent game making 4 sacks, forcing 2 turnovers, and allowing just 14 points (0 in second half). They are now 9-1 and have games left against Oregon St. and Kentucky. After dropping to #20 after the blowout loss to Notre Dame, Navy now looks like it will have to settle for a non-BCS bowl game.

    Vanderbilt,

A easy game for the wildcats as they started strong today scoring on all five poessissions in the first half. 3 tds and 2 field goals. Vandys offensive couldnt do anything against an improving wildcat defense. They could only muster a 39 yard field goal late second. half 27-3 Wildcats.

    WVU 27 Pitt 21

It appears this year's backyard brawl in Morgantown will end the Panthers run as Big East Champions. Pitt's offense struggled all day long, Seth Tate completed well under 50 percent of his passes and threw 3 picks, Marcus Davenport was held to under 30 yards rushing. In the end the game came down to a six point difference which equals the two field goals missed by Tommy Copeland, including a 20 yarder. The Pitt defense, who prepared for a spread offense attack all week, was surprised to see WVU running Navy's option offense. While they did a fine job stopping the option run, a few big pass plays led to WVU's points. Pitt will host Cincinnati next week to likely decide the number two team in the Big East.

    Wake Forest - 7
    VT - 38

The story in Blacksburg was the Hokie defense's ability to rebound from an embarrassing performance against Miami to hold Wake Forest to only 22 yard rushing on 32 carries. The Hokie D also forced five turnovers, a fumble and four interceptions, two of which led to a defensive score.

On offense it was a struggle to get the passing game going with Eric Clemons throwing only one TD and two INTs and accounting for only 150 passing yards, but freshman RB Erik Salyer picked up the slack carrying the ball 20 times for 168 yards and two TDs.

    POTG: E. Salyer - RB, 20 car. 168 yards, 2 TD. 8.4 YPC, long of 46 yards

    #12 FSU 35
    #23 Clemson 56

Florida St. visit Death Valley today playing for a spot in the ACC Championship game againt the Hurricanes of Miami. Both teams needing a conference win in the worst way, started out the game firing on all cylinders. The score at halftime was 35 - 28, with the Tigers in the lead.

The Clemson defense exited their locker rooms from the break with a 7 point advantage and held the Seminoles scoreless in the third, giving them a 3 touchdown lead. A big turnover in the third killed any will to win FSU had as, E. Johnson returned a fumble 48 yards for a TD.

This puts your Clemson Tigers on a crash course to revenge the loss earlier in the season to the hated 'Canes from South Florida.

Navy struggled early and found themselves down 14-3 in the 1st half. They flat out did not play well but decided they needed to go back to their bread and butter of running the ball and it worked well. Shelton Spencer has just 10 yards in the 1st half and finished with 147. Star receiver Matt Stone didn't get too involved in the offense but played very, very well. On punt returned Stone caught 8 punts and averaged over 17 yards per return. Receiving stone caught 8 passes for 45 yards on a TD and on special teams he returned punts including a 20, 29, and 46 yard TD return. The defense played well getting 6 sacks and forcing 3 turnovers. DT Larry Broussard had 8 tackles, 4 TFL, and 3 sacks.

Oklahoma State's Air Raid offense gave the Nittany Lions fits, for the first drive of the game. Then, it got disgusting. SO WR Chris Hill Had 345 All-purpose yards, including 2 kickoff returns, and 4 touchdowns. The running game racked up close to 200 yards. the defense held the Cowboy's to under 50 yards rushing. The fans and alumni in Happy Vally are thinking 'what coulda been' if coach Hughes would have commandeered the Lions for the entire season.
