2015 Season - Week 17 Playoff Picture With the 2015 season coming to a close, there is still quite a bit undecided across The Q when it comes to the upcoming post season. Here we will take a look at each division and the wild card possibilities for each conference. AFC NORTH Cleveland Browns (12-3) - dablakpope *CLINCHED* The Browns suffered a tough loss to the division rival Ravens in week 16, but that still doesn't change the fact that they have locked up the top seed in the AFC for the upcoming post season. They will look to bounce back against the Broncos this week, before getting a week off with their first round bye. AFC SOUTH Indianapolis Colts (11-4) - thafuture3886 Jacksonville Jaguars (10-5) - CHUNKNESS Scenario unchanged from the week 16 report, winner takes all in this division! Colts win the division and get a first round bye with the number 2 seed, if they win. The Jaguars would win the division, but need a Jets loss to lock up a bye, if they are victorious. AFC EAST New York Jets (10-5) - klaximilian *CLINCHED?* Miami Dolphins (9-6) - DJDunn6 It appears as though the Jets have clinched the AFC East. Though these teams can still finish with the same record, they split their season match-ups, and they will finish with the same record against division opponents; the Jets should hold the edge in the tie-breaker based on a better record against common opponents (8-4 vs. 7-5). Now that is assuming that EA is going to get the tie-breaker right, and that's a big assumption. I am sure the Jets would prefer to win their week 17 game and leave no doubt here. A week 17 win, combined with a Jaguars victory over the Colts, could also give the Jets a first round bye in the play-offs. AFC WEST Los Angeles Raiders (10-5) - Hulk_hagen_55 *CLINCHED* The Raiders are back on top of the AFC West. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a scenario where the raiders could earn a first round bye, but that doesn't take anything away from the fact that they are going to the dance! AFC WILD CARD Indianapolis Colts (11-4) VS. Jacksonville Jaguars (10-5) The Colts are guaranteed at least a Wild Card spot, but their focus this week is on the AFC South crown, and a first round bye. The Jaguars could finish week 17 anywhere from the #2 seed, to going home. If they fall to the Colts, they would need to see the Ravens defeat the Dolphins in week 17 to ensure the Jags lock up the 2nd Wild Card slot. With head-to-head losses to both the Dolphins and Ravens this year; If the Jags lose, and the Ravens are defeated as well, the Jaguars season is over. No pressure here. Baltimore Ravens (10-5) Josh Barnes VS. Miami Dolphins (9-6) The Ravens have a huge match-up against the Dolphins in week 17. If they win, they are guaranteed a playoff spot. If the fail to defeat the Dolphins, they need a Jacksonville loss in order to grab the #6 seed. The only team facing a true must win situation in the AFC in week 17 are the Dolphins. A win against the Ravens gives them a Wild Card spot, but a loss leaves them on the outside looking in. It doesn't get any more clear cut than that. A couple of huge AFC games this week, where three of the four teams involved will get to advance, and one will go home early. This is what it's all about! NFC NORTH Detroit Lions (9-6) - heathh *CLINCHED* The Lions locked up the NFC North crown with their week 16 victory. NFC SOUTH Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-5) - Jeremy *CLINCHED* The Bucs took care of business in week 16 to lock up the NFC South Championship. A week 17 victory, combined with a Giants loss, could earn them the #2 seed in the NFC and a first round bye. NFC EAST New York Giants (11-4) - cry_havoc *CLINCHED* Having already clinched the NFC East, the Giants can earn the #1 seed in the NFC with a week 17 win, and a Seattle loss. They could also end up missing out on a first round bye altogether if they lose in Week 17, and the Buccaneers are victorious. NFC WEST Seattle Seahawks (12-3) - LtJustice *CLINCHED* Another team that took care of business with a wwek 16 victory, the Seahawks locked up the NFC West title. The are guaranteed a first round bye, but need a week 17 victory, or a Giants loss, to lock up the top spot in the NFC. NFC WILD CARD Arizona Cardinals (10-5) Miki1369 Philadelphia Eagles (9-6) Coach KO Carolina Panthers (9-6) VinfortheWin Atlanta Falcons (9-6) MrWitness36 Minnesota Vikings (8-7) Juan Valencia St. Louis Rams (8-7) Easy Dez It The whole NFC Wild Card picture is a mess. The Cardinals could lock up the top Wild Card spot with a win. If the cards lose, they could fall into as much as a four way tie (combined with victories by the Eagles, Panthers, and Falcons). But there is also the potential for as many as a five way tie (Vikings and Rams win, Eagles, Panthers, and Falcons lose). Situations like that are where we get into the realm of strength of victory tie-breakers. I can't wait to see what happens when the smoke clears here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There you go again guys. All but one division decided, but quite a few big games left to be played in the final week!
Love that so much is left to be decided and there are a bunch of great matchups this week. Good luck everyone!
I really enjoy seeing the season come down to this. Good luck to everybody vying for a post-season bid; and good luck to everybody looking forward to the off-season.
Colts defeat Jags Ravens defeat Dolphins Jets defeat Chargers Jaguars are lucky to squeak into the #6 position. Thank you Josh Barnes .
BREAKING NEWS! AFC Playoff Picture Comes into focus with Colts and Ravens victories. With their victory, the Colts have won the AFC South Championship and grabbed the number 2 seed in the AFC, and the first round bye that goes along with it. The Ravens defeated the Dolphins to secure the top Wild Card and number 5 seed in the AFC. The Jaguars earned the 2nd Wild Card and #6 in the AFC playoffs. AFC POST SEASON 1. Cleveland Browns (12-3) - dablakpope *1st Round Bye (Home Field Advantage)* 2. Indianapolis Colts (12-4) - thafuture3886 *1st Round Bye* WILD CARD MATCH-UPS: GAME 1: 3. New York Jets (11-5) - klaximilian *HOME* VS. 6. Jacksonville Jaguars (10-6) - CHUNKNESS GAME 2: 4. Los Angeles Raiders (10-5) - Hulk_hagen_55 *HOME* VS. 5. Baltimore Ravens (11-5) - Josh Barnes
Dislike that I both missed the #2 seed and now have to play Doug in the 1st round. That guy always has my number.
How easily you for forget week 4. Should be a fun one, though. I always look forward to our games. At least this time it won't be a hotel lag fest. I'll be around the next few, so we'll be able to get it in!
Congrats to all the playoff bound teams! and to those teams not as fortunate...The off seasons and *cough clean slate...is around the corner
Congrats to the playoff teams. As a owner that is once again sitting home, all I can do is look forward. With that, I'm guessing we will be shooting for the draft to take place on the weekend of the 11-12?
It all depends on when the playoffs and SB are completed. If the post season is completed and there is enough time to perform the off-season tasks which occur prior to the draft that weekend, then yes.
UPDATE: NFC POST SEASON 1. Seattle Seahawks (13-3) - LtJustice *1st Round Bye (Home Field Advantage)* 2. New York Giants (12-4) - cry_havoc *First Round Bye* WILD CARD MATCH-UPS: GAME 1: 3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-5) - Jeremy *HOME* VS. 6. Wild Card Team #2 GAME 2: 4. Detroit Lions (9-7) - heathh *HOME* VS. 5. Wild Card Team #1 NFC WILD CARD Arizona Cardinals (10-6) Miki1369 - *Locked up a Wild Card spot* Atlanta Falcons (9-6) MrWitness36 *Can lock up Wild Card with week 17 win* Philadelphia Eagles (9-7) Coach KO Carolina Panthers (9-7) St. Louis Rams (9-7) Easy Dez It Minnesota Vikings (8-7) Juan Valencia The Falcons can lock up the last Wild Card spot in question with a win in week 17, here are the scenarios: If the Falcons win in week 17: The Falcons and Cardinals are the two Wild Card teams, with matching 10-6 records. It looks like the tie-breaker would fall to strength of victory for determining the 5th and 6th seed. If the Falcons lose in week 17: There will be at least 4 teams (5 if the Vikings win in week 17) tied for the #2 Wild Card slot at 9-7. It looks like that would also fall to strength of victory, at least initially. I honestly have no clue who would end up coming out with the spot.
