With Ole Miss crowned as champion without winning a conference championship again...... we are heading into everyone's favorite time of year... the offseason... with the offseason brings arrivals and departures which lead to Position Battles....

QB-- Its Jason McGee's world for the next 2 seasons, unless something drastic happens...

HB -- Its Jon Alford's time, we tried to upgrade but it just didnt happen....... Steve Sharp could receive some carries as well....
TE -- Palmer's last year....... gotta find someone who can play close to his level.....
My offensive line is set...... 3 returning starters with two redshirt freshman starting outside...
DT -- Jon Campbell is the starter......
DE -- Its gonna be two freshman.... just not sure who yet......
OLB -- Broussard and Landry finally get their chances to play...

MLB -- Hamilton has one final season left, and his partner is to be detemined..but looks like it could be Luis Harrison......

Secondary -- all four starters return.... with Garner and Coleman being the senior leaders at safety.....

QB - Big decision here again. Do I start off the Hodges era as he is a FR RS? Griffin and Jones come in at 81 before training and both are Srs...
HB- Parker comes back inheriting starter position that he was hurt all through last year in. backup Parham is gone, Bullock is now #2
WR - AA Wrs return to have the best duo in NCAA
TE - Lee and Miller share the TE spot with new freshman
OL - Lost 3 starters, and the other 2 will be seniors this year. Have 2 young guys stepping in to start this year, and a :4stars:T recruit who is going to be asked to start. transition period on the line.
DT - Lose Newberry and Smalls, but Higgins comes back for Sr year. Soph steps up to fill in the other spot.
DE - Both McNamara and White are returning. Have a young DE being mentored and another big recruit.
LB - Losing Nagurski winner Coker. Potts and Jones come back, and RS FR recruit OLB replaces Coker. Team weakness here.
CB - Losing all 3 starters. Have low 3 low 70's underclassmen to compete with 4 recruits this year. Top 3 guys get it. Huge ??? here.
FS - Lose longtime starter and ballhawk Lake. Have highly touted RS FR or utility SR Massey to compete for this spot.
SS - Hollins returns as a Soph to make continue his bid as 4 yr starter.

Duke comes off another 10 win season somehow. Last season was marked by inconsistency and having to over commit to the passing game. My offensive line took a step back last year in run blocking.

True freshman Corny Blount started the year, but was hurt late in the season. His backup Cameron McQueen is a terrific athlete but was inconsistent when he got the chance to play. Same for Alan Williams. Combine all of this with two high rated quarterbacks coming into the program (one a freshman, one a JUCO junior) and you have the potential for an interesting camp. The JUCO, Alan Robinson looks to have a well rounded skill set.

Christian Ricks and Buster Smith have been the duo here for two years, hard to imagine that would change much unless someone had a super camp. This will be a recruiting focus with 4 juniors and 1 senior in the group.

B.J. Myrnic is gone and Matt Gibson is the only player on the roster, with Michael Pleasant coming in.

Senior Quincy Hudson leads the group here, he was having a fantastic start last season before getting hurt for the year. Ryan Smith should be the contribute, as well as Sam Webb. Recruit Kyle Houston may get some time at #2 or slot receiver. Duke has a couple other recruits they are in contact with also.

With 4 year starter Michael Sparks graduating, Montrell Carlson will compete with incoming freshman Mark Abrams for the #1 spot. Both will see time.

4 of the 5 starters return, and 4 recruits are signed at least.

Kyle Golden, Jason Robinson, and Jared Humphrey return. Robinson was a monster, recording 13 sacks. Two four star defensive tackles are signed to add some depth or compete for time if they compete will in camp.

Luis Jackson, Anthony Miller will start on the outside, with Ray Fellows taking over the strong side inside linebacker spot. The other 3-4 linebacker spot is going to be an open competition.

Dane Berry gets to play for one season after transferring last year. Erik Baily and Vince Huffman will anchor the other spot and be the nickle back depending on camp.

Martin Williams returns, not sure who will line up opposite him. Dane Berry may slide over to FS.

    Will be a freshman
