From 2016 recruiting, both the #1 and #2 DT were signed by users teams. Penn State edge7771 signed #1 DT recruit Josh Castillo and Cal Fmode11 signed #2 DT Steve Burton.

Let's take a look at how they stack up in their 2017 Freshman campaigns:

    J. Castillo - 17 tack, 14 tfl, 8 sack, 1 ff
    S. Burton - 11 tack, 10 tfl, 7 sack, 1 ff

Close battle statistically between the two. The nod would go to Castillo here but keep in mind the #2 sack leader nationally was on the end of the line for Cal. Burton was left with much of the leftovers.

Stay Tuned.... I plan to track these two studs through their collegiate careers.

Good stuff these guys should be monsters for years to come. To get that kind of pressure up the middle is tough to deal with.

Here is where some of the stats can show trends. It appears Penn State likes to bring the house to get pressure. These teams only have a diff of 3 sacks total this season (PSU=60, Cal=57). Without having access to the console currently I can't cross-reference these with yardage but would be interesting to correlate. I do have a minor in statistics so some these kinds of anomalies interest me.

    Cal Defensive Line:
    62 tfl, 41 sacks

    Penn State Defensive Line:
    45 tfl, 26 sacks

    What does this mean?

PSU DT Castillo has 31% of d-line sacks
Cal DT Burton has 17% of d-line sacks

Consider PSU sack leader is the SS with 12. Cal's leader is RE with 20.

SV (Sack Value = % of total sacks for team):
    Castillo - 13%
    Burton - 12%

Pretty close statistically overall. We'll track the trend for ongoing seasons and see how things play out. This can obviously be largely effected by gameplay, recruiting and schemes.

Very nice analysis. Both have great stats for freshman, really easy to see why they were the #1 and #2 rated DT's. Both are going to be absolute monsters by the end of their careers.

Thus far through 6 weeks, Burton is eating blocks while Warren is being a force inside.

    Penn State: 20 sacks

You put a guy's name out there -- and he may just surprise you. Steve Burton, taking some personnel issues being called out for his lack of production thus far in the season has his game of the season against rival UCLA in week 7:

    DT Steve Burton
    4 tack 3 sacks

Cal DT Steve Burtonhas become completely over-shadowed by an UNexpected great year by his counter-part junior DT Matt Warren.

That's some serious production out of the DT position. The 4 FF out of Castillo are impressive.

I have not seen an increase in the fumbles I've forced. My team was fumbling often early in the season, but it hasn't recently.

Had one inside the 5 this morning against UF. Those stingy fuckers wouldn't let me in endzone. First real good cpu team I've played in awhile - besides beast-mode USC.

I don't post alot here but wanted to change subjects a bit It's 1023 am Saturday morning here in Asia.Talking to my daughter in the states so I decided to look at some USER stats for the Legacy. Dam I must be bored.

I will make a better attempt to post content and thoughts here. With LSUTRUTH ( Really good and competitive player) and edge7771 leaving the league ( Heck of a balla and cool dude ) I really haven't played anyone else more than once. I played @fmode last season ( Hard played game ). Played uncleho ( Cool dude ) 2 or 3 seasons ago. I finally got together with Raidernation even though it was a Madden game. ( Cool ass brother as well ). I like this league as I am in my 4th or 5th season I think.

Anyways... HovaTheGodMC I was looking at stats for my team and most of the teams here. Are guys playing the same amount of minutes each QTR against the CPU teams? I even pick my plays against the CPU teams in 7 seconds or less.

    Passing attempts

    Cal 289
    GT 202
    Mar 266
    Was 261

    Wisc 191...with 2 QB's
    NC 181...with 2 QB's

    Rushing attempts top 2 rb's

    Cal 252
    Mary 312
    Col 200
    ASU 209
    Was 277

    G tech 348 total......257 4 rb's...91 with 2 qb's

    Wisc 228 with 3 rb's 270...with 4 rb's

Good analysis GMONEY... I've noticed the amount of rushing yardage and the amount of passing TD this year to be higher than I've ever had at Cal. I pick all my plays, don't use the coach thing for play calling. I've had a comment or two in user games that I run clock - but it's picking plays (usually get the play in around 20 sec left on the play clock). This has been a special year for Cal, actually unexpected. The Pac 12 is brutal and we kill each other out here, why no one ever gets to the NCG.
