2017 Season - Week 17 Playoff Picture With the 2017 season coming to a close, there is still quite a bit undecided across The Q when it comes to the upcoming post season. Here we will take a look at each division and the wild card possibilities for each conference. AFC NORTH Cleveland Browns (12-3) - dablakpope *CLINCHED* The Browns continue to do what they do, dominate in the regular season. Having lost to the Patriots in week 13, the Browns are locked in as the #2 seed in the AFC. You just know Pope would like to see them Pats again in the AFC Championship. AFC SOUTH Tennessee Titans (10-5) - ThaBayouChef Indianapolis Colts (10-5) - thafuture3886 The Titans own the tiebreaker between these two teams, due to a season sweep against the Colts. All they need to do is win and they clinch the AFC South. Unfortunately they have had that same scenario each of the past 3 weeks prior, and have come up short. Doesn't get any easier this week, as they have a hungry Jaguars team to deal with. Meanwhile the Colts are riding a 4 game winning streak into week 17, and they need just one more win, coupled with a Titans loss, to add yet another AFC South Championship to Curtis' trophy case. If the Titans lose the division race, they are out of the postseason entirely as they would lose a head to head tie-breaker with the Ravens for the Wild Card.. AFC EAST New England Patriots (13-2) - PepperNY *CLINCHED* The Patriots have locked up the top spot in the AFC. The clinched the AFC East, holding a better division record than the Dolphins in the event of a tie. They also hold the tie-breaker over the Browns for the top seed, should they finish with the same record. Regardless of not having anything to play for, you can bet the patriots will take it to the Chiefs in week 17, to try to keep their momentum going into the postseason. AFC WEST Denver Broncos (8-7) - Phenom Kansas City Chiefs (8-7) - redlishus Coming into week 13 of this season, the Chiefs were sitting at 7-4 and the Broncos were staring at a 4-7 record. It appeared that the Chiefs were cruising to their first AFC West Championship of this release. Fast forward to week 17 to see the Broncos haven't lost a game since, winning 4 straight, and the Chiefs have struggled, winning only 1 game. To guarantee the championship, the Chiefs would need a week 17 victory against a very tough Patriots team, and a Broncos loss to the rival Chargers. If the Broncos win, they once again sneak up on the Chiefs to snatch the division title, just like in season 1. If both teams lose in week 17, your guess is as good as mine! Only one of these teams will make the postseason, the other will be watching from their couch. AFC WILD CARD Miami Dolphins (12-3) - DJDunn6 *CLINCHED* The Dolphins are guaranteed the first Wild Card and a game against the winner of the AFC West on Wild Card Weekend. Indianapolis Colts (10-5) Baltimore Ravens (10-5) - Josh Barnes If the Colts win their division, the second Wild Card goes to the Ravens. If the Titans win the AFC South, the Ravens need to defeat the mighty Browns in week 17 and hope for a Colts loss. The Colts defeated the Ravens in week 15, so the Colts own the head to head tie-breaker here. In an interesting twist, the 2nd Wild Card team should be matched up against the AFC South Champion in the Wild Card round. So, either way we will see an intriguing rematch! Some really interesting scenarios to be played out in the AFC. Will be fun to see how it all shakes out! NFC NORTH Minnesota Vikings (11-4) - DarkKnight89 *CLINCHED* The Vikings locked up the NFC South and Kenri looks forward to his first postseason game in The Q on Wild Card Weekend. He hasn't lost since his first game in The Q, can he continue to ride that wave all the way to the Super Bowl? NFC SOUTH Carolina Panthers (13-2) - Mugga *CLINCHED* The Panthers have locked up the top seed in the NFC. Another new comer, with a championship pedigree, can he get to the big game in only his first season? NFC EAST New York Giants (12-3) - cry_havoc Dallas Cowboys (12 - 3) - CaptMoe Philadelphia Eagles (11-4) - Coach KO The most intriguing, and arguably the strongest, division in The Q in 2017. Three teams still have a shot at the NFC East Championship coming into week 17. If the Giants can defeat the rival Eagles in their week 17 matchup, the Giants will clinch their 4th straight division crown. With a victory, the Giants would own the tie-breaker over the Cowboys with a better conference record. If the Giants lose, the Cowboys could clinch their first division title of this release with a week 17 victory of their own. If the Eagles defeat the Giants, and the Cowboys lose to their inter-state rival the Texans, then the Eagles would clinch the NFC East. With a victory, the Eagles would own the head to head tie-breaker with the Giants and the division record tie-breaker with the Cowboys. If the Giants win the division, the earn a first round bye as well, due to a head to head victory over the Seahawks in week 4, which would win them their only potential tie-breaker. If the Cowboys win the division, they could earn a first round bye only if the Seahawks lose in week 17. Due to a week 15 loss to the Seahawks, they would lose a head to head tie-breaker if it came down to it. If the Eagles win the division, they too would need a Seahawks loss to clinch a 1st round bye, but for the exact opposite reason. A seahawks loss, combined with an Eagles division championship, would give the Eagles the tie-breaker due to a week 7 victory over the Hawks. Lots to be decided here, and all three teams making the postseason is a very real possibility. NFC WEST Seattle Seahawks (12-3) - LtJustice *CLINCHED* The Seahawks clinched their 3rd straight NFC West Championship in played seasons, and their 4th overall, many weeks ago. Their only hope to secure a 1st round bye is to defeat a very tough Vikings team in week 17 and hope for a Giants loss. 1st round bye or not, this team has their sights set on a return trip to the Super Bowl, and hope this is finally their year to bring home the big trophy. NFC WILD CARD New York Giants (12-3) Dallas Cowboys (12-3) Philadelphia Eagles (11-4) Atlanta Falcons (11-4) - MrWitness36 The only way the Falcons break into this logjam of NFC East teams to claim a Wild Card is to start by winning their week 17 game against the Steelers, then they would also need to see the Eagles lose in week 17 to the Giants. The Falcons would lose the conference tie-breaker to both the Giants and Cowboys, and lose the head to head tie-breaker against the Eagles, due to a week 16 loss. It's looking very much like we will see 3 NFC West teams in the NFC playoffs, but only time will tell for sure. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There you have it everyone, as convoluted and confusing as ever. Please don't take anything I say about tie-breakers as set in stone, as we all know know EA loves to mess with us in that department. Good luck to everyone still vying for a post-season birth!
