VT fans are still sweating after a heart pounding 45-38 win over #24 Boise State.

42 points were scored in the 1st quarter. VT and BSU traded points on all but 2 possessions. BSU's HB ran wild over a clearly overrated VT defense and scored 4 TDs on the day. But Freshman QB Damian Marshall for the Hokies would match that TD total and throw for 371 yards. The main beneficiary of the passes was Guy Rankin, who caught 13 passes for 181 yards and 2 TDs. While Marshall was sacked 5 times behind a "great" offensive line, he still managed to find open WRs. The other stud on the day was another freshman, RB 5* recruit Kevin Motley who ran for 177 yards on 20 carries and 2 TDs. The freshman lit up the field but the defense was terrible, allowing over 500 yards and 5 TDs. Thank goodness the freshman have come to play on offense, otherwise this game would've gotten ugly.

i just realized all 5 user games are away for me...thx Pagamer07 now i get squiggly lines for every user game and question marks. (not that its a huge deal, but now i'll get more drops on passes and INTs b/c of "home field" advantage):mad::mad:

time to act like clemson and embrace the 4*

Hurricanes escape a very good Houston team 36-32
    [IMG]
The 2019 season finally gets underway for the Miami Hurricanes after having two byes to start the season they welcomed in #23 Houston and there spread hurry up attack. Miami's head coach decided to go with true freshman Cameron Holliday over veteran Darnell Gant and Holliday played like a freshman early in the game but settled into a nice groove as the game progressed as for his counterpart Houston quarterback Troy Scott threw 5 interceptions 2 which were returned for Miami touchdowns. Miami took a 3 point lead into the half but was able to outscore Houston in the 2nd half 13-12 and escape with a 4 point victory. Next up for the Hurricanes is a trip to Ohio State which will be a very tough game.

I think the user with the most national championships should be honored with the #5 pick.

They aren't tanking, and no Nachos. Best record gets last pick.

I get to pick close to last and still never win a national championship. Life sucks.

I think that was one of the biggest factors that lead to your 7 point win today, being at home, because it didn't allow me to audible most of the time when I saw a different look unfortunately but what can you do. Home field advantage is just that, it is an advantage (y)

Whew. Just pulled out a squeaker against JCSpartan. Score/stats might not seem like it but it was real close. Recap tomorrow.

GG Dude. That deep ball I got on the ricochet was the difference.

Lol I completely forgot about that, but I think your 99 and 98 overall DTs were the difference.

A very bad game that provided an exciting finish is the prefect description for the week three match up between Nebraska and Oklahoma. On the opening kickoff freshman Mario Rogers would fumble the ball on the return and the Sooners would get an early 7-0 lead. Nebraska would get to start a drive after this kickoff but on second down Jon Wallace threw an interception to the linebacker that ran in front of the receiver for the pick. This would be the first of three in the half for Wallace. The worst of which was a streak route that the 99 ACC QB threw like a corner route right two where two Oklahoma defenders were (video on website). Nebraska would hold Oklahoma to a field goal. They would also add another field goal to make it 13-0 at the end of one.

The second quarter was worse. The only "highlight" was a tipped ball at the line that Oklahoma receiver Mark Hughes would run under and catch and scamper his way to a 29 yard score with 10 seconds left in the quarter. All in all Nebraska was only down 20 even though they turned the ball over 5 times.

Nebraska got the ball second in the third quarter and came out with a new running back John Walker. Walker would end up being the work horse for the Corn Huskers in the second half. He would move the ball downfield but get stuffed and the goal line. Nebraska would dial up the QB sneak to finally punch the ball in from a yard out. Nebraska would be driving at the end of the quarter.

The first play of the fourth quarter would be a play action pass to Matt Prater in the corner of the end zone to cut the game to 20-14. Could of been 20-17 but Gene Gold missed an easy field goal wide left earlier in the game. The Corn Huskers defense would play nasty in the fourth forcing two three and outs. Nebraska would get the ball with around 2:30 left in the game and even with little time left on the clock they still focused on Walker and the run game. Walker would proved to be clutch as he was running with purpose. Getting around 4-5 yards a run with a couple that were longer. Facing a fourth and two Walker would convert the for the first down. Nebraska would face another fourth down with 11 seconds left. This made it basically fourth and win or lose. Coach Clutch would place the ball in Wallace's hands for the win. The snap was high but Wallace got it, set his feet, and threw it to Clint Connors who was running an out route in front of two Sooner defenders. The game would freeze for a second and then Connors had caught the ball in the end zone with 6 seconds left. Gene would connect on the extra point to give the Corn Huskers the one point lead. Oklahoma would have one last chance but since they had to go deep Hill held on to the ball a little long and Fogle was able to there for the sack to wrap up the comeback win for Nebraska.
