Taking some time to look at who are the early winners/losers for this past FA Class. Will update again later in the year.

    Notes:
    • Lots of to/po ends of contracts out there, I think people are figuring out some tricks
    • Gausman (ryalaman) is your WAR leader at the moment, seems to be worth the contract he got (3.0WAR, 3.86 ERA, 98/23 K/BB)
    • Best Bargain: JFace907 Stanley Bena for just over 1M has produced 2.2 WAR already (22 2B, 15 HR, 47 RBI)
    • Worst Buy: Ryty, Shozo Saikawa getting 23M this year, putting up -.6 WAR. I didn't think it was possible to have a worse OF defensively than Arthur Lawson. (.244/.320/.351)
    • Worst Player: Masler found a dud in RF Romain Vignal (glad I missed out on him!). Vignal has put up an impressive -1.1 WAR (with average defense) in 62 games (.197/.236/.331)
    • Best Bargain Team: JFace907 did well with Bena but also snagged up RP Johan Yan for 1.2M and he's already produced 1.2 WAR (1.72 ERA, 31 IP, 40/3 K/BB)
    • Look at me I'm the Yankees award: briosu99 used that lucrative media deal to splurge 48M on SP Javier Rios. Not nearly worth 48M but Rios has been good (1.8 WAR, 5-4 3.77 ERA)
    • Are you happy with your FA signings so far??

I want to say that the fact the KnightNoles award winner wasn't featured in this was depressing. I am used to you guys bashing me :D

Agree. Shozo's been terrible. Needless to say, I probably won't be picking up his option in year 3.

    Ask ryalaman and sonn

Nice stuff Ty. Gausman was an absolute steal. And yeah, we need to fix team and/or player options.

My free agents have been alright so far. Milone has been solid out of the bullpen and Hendricks hasn't been awful as a back end starter when healthy.

Great work Ty (y) . I would add that the Tigers are very happy with the money they spent to land a Closer in the off-season. Thus far Dan Parks has been as hoped: 14 saves, .87 WHIP, 1.74 FIP, 12.5 K/9 14.1 VORP & 1.4 WAR. The Tigers also considered Anthony Zych in the off-season but choose to go with Parks instead due to his better control/velocity. So far, so good.

    Current bullpen is on fire.

Oh I had forgotten about the CF That I signed from Pittsburgh. He's on the trade block for dirt cheap if anybody wants a rental 4th outfielder.

Hard to be disappointed with a combined WAR of +3.8 between Sale, Zych, and Vizcaino after just 2 months. Sale needs to come back strong after his upcoming 3 week stint on the DL though.

I'm not a fan of spending so much money on a closer, but Parks definitely stood out as having one of the best seasons so far.

All my FA's were small buys.

None of the low risk guys have produced very much, atleast Walz has been a decent BP arm for me.

Most of your FA signings have panned out so far except Almonte (but he was cheap).

I'm surprised how well Hegwood has done, he's been well worth that 1.3M contract so far.

Overall I'm happy with the guys I signed. I knew I was overpaying for Rios but I needed to make sure I got one of the big four FA SP.

Holt has been great, when he's on the field, but I knew that I was getting a guy that would probably only play 120 games.

Almonte has been somewhat of a disappointment, mainly because he's been hurt almost the entire season.

Even with the injuries, you still have 5.1 WAR between those 3 signings. Value wise it might not be the best but adding those wins may be the difference between a WC or division win in the East.

Van Dekker's been working out pretty well so far. Hope next season is just as productive.

Domingo Tapia has struggled and Bud Gardener does well when he isn't hurt. lol The others were small buys.
