They'll go here. We're kind of on the honor system here. Don't take advantage, if I catch you I'll still lay the hammer down.

    17 Seniors + 2 extra roster spots = 19 scholarships
Team needs FB, G, CB, SSx2

A&M has a pretty depleted roster coming pretty soon. There is a decent senior class but not a lot of depth after that. A&M is looking to bring in a crew of tough nosed BAMF's.
Offence is in need of upgrading the front line where as the
Defense is in need of D-backs.

The first trio have signed at A&M.
    • Headlining the recruits is SS Tom Mitchell (76+1). Mitchell will be a day one starter by default due to 4 graduating strong safeties with no backups in line. Mitchell will use his size (6'5 201) and hard hitting ability (Hit Power 93) to play close to the line almost like an extra linebacker.
    • Ryan Thomas (67 +1)signs as the second SS so far and will be mainly used in coverage as a deep safety.
    • CB Steve Everett (67) was another instant commit along with Thomas who will try and help out in the secondary. Everett has good speed (91) but will most likely redshirt and play a year on the scout team before moving up with the big boys. Everett could use a year in the weight room to get stronger before he plays with the big boys of the SEC
A&M still has 16 scholarships available and they are still hoping to get some top end talent in crucial spots.

    Utah Pulls In 6 Commits

Salt Lake City, UT- Coach Jenkins has done a great job scouting and bringing in top level players, even if those players aren't the highest ranked players in the country. So far this season the Utes head man has been able to bring in some recruits who also happen to be at the top of the rankings.

:3stars: WR Adam Blanchard isn't one of the top ranked players at his position, in fact he barely cracks the top 100 WR in the country. But the coaching staff saw something they liked in him and they were able to get the senior from Concord, CA to throw his hat into the ring for the Utes. If I had to venture a guess, I am sure the coaches like the blend of size and speed the wideout brings to the table. Blanchard is 6'5" 220 pounds, and is blazing fast (96). He's very raw as a pass catcher, but after a year or two of seasoning could be a very dangerous weapon on the outside, and taking option pitches. Blanchard will absolutely redshirt next season, but after that could see some time returning kicks.

Part of the reason Utah has been able to stay near the top of the polls the last few seasons is because of a dominant offensive line. The newest addition to the assembly line will be :4stars: RT Chad Walker. Walker is one of two commits the Utes have managed to pull out of Illinois, and he's from Cahokia. Coach Jenkins loves to redshirt his linemen and Walker will likely get the benefit of an extra season on campus. He's tall for the position at 6'7" but has solid athleticism and is well balanced as a blocker.

After losing several top players to the NFL Draft in the past few seasons the Utes staff knew they needed to reload along the defensive line. They have secured commits from several top tier players, with Jesse Downing being the lone defensive tackle commit so far. Downing is from Antioch, CA and the coaches hope they can give the pass rusher some time to develop and redshirt. He does a good job getting off blocks, but the coaches would like to add some size to his body to get him ready for the next level. It may be several years before we see Downing make an impact.

John Atkinson is the second defensive line commit, but he is one of two defensive end prospects who could make in impact his freshman season. Atkinson is 6'4" and 260 pounds, and he has prototypical size for the DE spot. He's an excellent player, and depending on the development of players currently on the roster has the potential to see time as a freshman or take a redshirt season. Either way he looks to be the next dominant defensive end for a Utah program becoming known for producing NFL prospects at the position.

:5stars: Athlete Scott Lane is in position to be the next in a long line of athletic quarterbacks at Utah. He's got size at 6'4" and speed and has a solid arm as well. After a thin season this year the Utes should have the ability to let the #4 player in the country take a redshirt season and spend some time developing as a passer. Vincent Duncan is just a sophomore, Brian Hairston is a redshirt freshman, and Ryan Dunlap is taking a redshirt season this year it may well be four years before Lane is able to make an impact.

The final commit of the early part of the season is :5stars: DE Jermaine Kiniry. Kiniry is without a doubt the highest ranked defensive lineman the Utes have ever lured to campus, and the 6'7" 259 pounder has drawn comparisons to Jadaveon Clowney thanks to his freakish athletic ability. Kiniry blends speed (85) pursuit (90) and block shedding ability (85 finesse) into one awesome package. The coaches hope to let the youngster redshirt before he sees the field, but he may force his way on before the staff would like. If Kiniry keeps his head down and works hard he could end up being the next first round defensive end the Utes place in the NFL.

The six pledges leave Utah with 9 slots left to fill their class and several prospects look to to be on the edge of making a choice.

    Utah Signs 2 More DT

    On :4stars: DT Carl Payne
"He's a solid player who we hope to redshirt. He's a little on the small side, but we envision him as someone who can collapse the pocket from the middle. He's got a solid set of pass rush moves, and he needs to add some size to his 256 pound frame. We envision him as someone who can gobble up sacks when the QB has to step up and elude the rush coming from the edges."

    On :4stars: DT Josh Pitts
"He's another guy we hope to redshirt. He's big enough to play now, but he has some skills that still need refining. He's an excellent tackler, and we want him to take up two blockers and let our linebackers make some plays. He's got the strength to make that a reality. He and Downing will have to battle for that role, because they're very similar players."

Payne and Pitts give Utah 8 commits and they need to sign 12 more players to close out the class. Utah is trying very hard to repair the defensive line. The Ute's have 3 defensive tackles committed and 5 commits along the defensive line.
