"The great Jackie Robinson in 1947, which this award is named after "

Here we will be discussing the pride of your ball clubs. The best of the best only in this thread. I will be running a American League version of this every year come spring. Feel free to comment in anyway here. This is kinda like the broom thread idea. If you think there over rated say it. If you think someone brought a guy up tell him etc etc. We will be keeping track of this threw the season and eventually we will all vote for a winner (statslab of course). Again come hard or go home no chumps aloud in here.

Aquired 12/16/19 from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Jud Adams and Seriozha Jankovic. Bates was drafted out of high school in 2016 #7 overall in round 1. Not the brightest guy with a low intelligence. But he makes up for that with very high Leadership and Work Ethic. This guy will always give you his all and is a true gamer. Bates was a true project player. Scouts worked long and hard with him to develop hitting the off speed pitch. Coaches raved about his approach last year in Double A as he posted a .273 avg along with 28 hrs and 83 rbis. Adding in a respectable 30 doubles and a 70/121 bb/k ratio. Hitting on the southside with great gap power this kid will be right at home in the bigs. Fielding a +9 zr last yr coupled with a cannon 10 arm and a 4.5 war we are excited to see him debut.

    Play Ball !!!

Nice to see that Bates is still alive. I had been wondering about what happened to him.

With a big late burst of development the newest member of the Whitesox is making his debut. Campbell was acquired in the biggest deal in dugout history. Giving up so much on my end it was a huge gamble. So anxious to see how it will have paid off. Projections are threw the roof for this guy as he has MVP capability. Last season in Double A Campbell hit .341 while hitting 28 hrs and 91 rbi's. His BB/K rate was 87/60 with a .431 obp and 7.5 war. He will be joining the youngest team in the dugout this season. Expectations are low but excitement is through the roof on the southside. Coupled with Bates these two rookies will be anchoring a already solid lineup and will be hitting in the 3 and 4 holes to start the year.

As of now the Red Sox don't have a single rookie in the lineup, tho it remains to be seen if a few big names don't get the call up later on in the year or a September call up if they progress well.

I guess not, or otherwise they are looking for them to fly under the radar. If I get someone called up early then they will get a write up here if I expect big things from them.

Pretty sure the Padres, Angeles, and Red Sox deal was bigger then that deal.

No Roty candidates. My call ups never take place at the beginning of a season.

    5-2 start to 2023 campaign

Since you said that he decided to develop a bunch more over the last 45 days. Wanted him to round off his contact first and he did that,so i had to play him.

This is all I got - my rule 5 guy from the BoSox. Doubt he'll win, but I'm interested in seeing what he does.

Still can't believe I forgot to do the rule five stuff, and lost him. Oh well, just have to be more careful in the future I guess.

    Romo.PNG

Former first round pick in 2019 (29th overall), Emilio Romo gets the call up in sim #2 and announces his presence with authority. He slots into the #4/#5 spot in the lineup and should play everyday at 1B for the 'Stros.

1st sim stats: .8WAR 3 HR .417 avg to begin his career.

An early season injury brought 1B Valentin to the show a little early this year than what was originally planned. His power numbers fit perfectly at Comerica (5 HR in 13 games) and he could have a very productive career in Detroit. Cisco was acquired 2 seasons ago from Tampa Bay Sharkman37 for under performing MR Jaramillo. Interestingly he's coming off a 4-game series against Tampa where he hit a RBI in every game against his former club.

He's on the older side for making his way to the bigs but with the abundance of power 1B there was a stacked depth chart in front of him that he has had to over-come. We will continue monitor his success and if he can hold onto his early success in the month of April.

The 2nd installment is coming tonight after we sim. Want to keep a 45-60 game gap in the updates. Then we can do 3 or so the last 60 games as the race tightens.
