1st Round The Dodgers followed suit in selecting a pitcher in the 1st Round of the 2024 Draft. We really liked his personality and his work ethice. His pitching aresnal needs some development work but at 18 he is on the right track. Look for him to report to Arizona once he is signed. 2nd Round This was an OMG, OMG, OMG, quick, quick, hurry, hurry pick as their list was exhausted. As an organization we need better hitters through out our INF and OF. Perez was taken on his leadership ability, desire to win and work ethic. He can hit but the worry comes from his defense and ability not to strikeout 100+ times a year. He will be with Robinson in Arizona.
Ryty youre up and your list is empty. Ry will be the last pick tonight. I'll be turning the timer back on at 9 AM EST tomorrow morning. REMINDER: The Dugout Round 3 and the remainder of the rounds will be 30 mins. MAKE A LIST.
I had a list and set it to list pick but it didn't do it. Anyway I drafted this guy.... http://traditionsportsonline.com/tso-ootp/reports/html/players/player_35837.html
With the Met's second round selection, we went with LHP Peter Yendis out of LA, CA. We had a lot of options at this pick and Peter might not have been the safest pick, but he did stand out among the other potential selections. First of all, he's as big, if not bigger at 6'7'' 230 lbs than the proverbial hard-throwing lefty, Randy Johnson. Peter has a lanky frame with a very smooth delivery. So smooth that he freezes base runners with one of the best pick off moves our scouts have seen. He can be wild, but sometimes that works to your advantage when you are throwing in the upper 90s as hitters are less confident about standing near the plate, or the batter's box for that matter. We're excited to see how Peter develops in our system.
With their second pick in the draft the San Diego Padres select - SS Sean 'Headcase' Beck: The Padres desperately need some decent position player prospects in their organization, and hope they found one in Beck. His contact and gap leave a little to be desired, especially hitting in Petco, but the rest of his attributes play out nicely with a good glove, speed, and A rated power / eye. For a 20 year old Beck is still a little raw, but the hopes are that upon developing his raw skill he can some how add some additional contact, something that may be possible with his good personality traits.
