"The great Jackie Robinson in 1947, which this award is named after "
Here we will be discussing the pride of your ball clubs. The best of the best only in this thread. I will be running a American League version of this every year come spring. Feel free to comment in anyway here. This is kinda like the broom thread idea. If you think there over rated say it. If you think someone brought a guy up tell him etc etc. We will be keeping track of this threw the season and eventually we will all vote for a winner (statslab of course). Again come hard or go home no chumps aloud in here.

Would like to try this a bit different this season and see how it works.

    1. When you nominate your player just give us his ratings screenshot alone
    - feel free to do a summary of your player if you would like also

    2. Then we will keep a schedule that looks like this
    - June 1st
    - August 1st
    - September 1st
    - October 1st

    Determining rookie status

A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).

    Jerome Smith 1B/DH
(I'm sick today so no scene shot but I'll get it tomorrow)

Smith is projected to be our DH of the future, this guy came over in the McKeachen trade with San Diego, he can absolutely hit the ball a ton and we are hoping he provides some big punch in the middle of the order for years to come. He has started at DH the beginning of this year and will be there for the rest of the year baring a complete fall apart.

That sucks he had 165 at bats last year so he is not eligible. Good luck with this kid though looks like a good player

Almost forgot about the "Mastadon", making the jump from AA . he's not quite fully developed yet, but should be a beast in years to come

for consideration - SS - Kendrick Akula and SP Scott McCall

Akula is in the top 3 in SB and sports an almost .400 OBP so far in this young season. McCall is following up a stellar Sept call-up last year and is 4-1 so far this year (sorry at work, can't do picks. if someone could grab them for me and post, it would be fab)

On a side note, love this thread Josh soxandgators

The rest of the NL pretty much sucks at every thing so I'll just post this over here. Yamada has a good chance of being the best rookie in baseball this year and if he can continue to exceed expectations facing lefty's he very well end up with one of the better seasons in all of baseball.

No more national league players in here. Unless you are willing to give allegiance to the american league in your post. :D

Cole is only doing that since he believes aligning with the AL will give him a better chance at winning the WS. And we all know that's not true.

Howard Powers threw 33 innings last year and has been in the majors a total of 94 days, since he broke camp with the team this year and there has been roughly 60 days this season so far that would put him at 34 days of service last year. Yet he's not a rookie? Davidson also has 94 days of service and jone 93.

Could be better with his .243 AVG and .277 OBP.

No sense in holding back a guy when he is ready to roll. Will need a miracle to catch guys that have a 62 game head start.

    Stats are valid through 6/11/24

    Roberto Casillas

Not a great start for this young kid. Has heated up in the last 2 weeks but leaving a lot to be desired so far.

    Jaime Flores
    ScreenHunter_193 Oct. 13 08.07.jpg
Not the greatest of starts for a young kid. This kid is only average so far with the bat but his glove and leadership handling this young staff has been exciting.
3.85 CERA and 31% caught stealing

    Jerome Smith
    ScreenHunter_194 Oct. 13 08.11.jpg

This guy is striking out at a 36% rate. Not sure how a guy can be that high and on the level this guy is. OH ya maybe that he is on pace for 51 hrs and 175 rbi's (y)@kdpnutter

    Gilberto Gonzalez

Not much more you can ask from a young arm here. Tough injury he took if he was able to go 30 starts who knows what awards he could win. (Besides the ROTY of course) ty5oke
    4 outta 6 quality starts

    Andy Tofts
    ScreenHunter_196 Oct. 13 08.31.jpg

Really like what is going on here with this future ace for Texas. His 3.75 FIP is sexy for a guy who has a bb/k ratio of 1.69 (not good btw lol). Good arm you got here bro can't wait to see his progress. DrunkenSoldier
    8 outta 12 quality starts

    Kendrick Akula
    ScreenHunter_197 Oct. 13 08.35.jpg
If he can figure out left handers shark might have something good here. Still way to early to predict anything but a league average rookie isn't bad at all since there is still growth in the future.@Sharkman37
    +0.4 @ 2B/SS/3B

    Scott McCall
    ScreenHunter_198 Oct. 13 08.39.jpg
Another future ace showing very good potential right off bat as a rookie. Again a very nice 3.57 FIP while having a bb/k rate of 1.63 good luck here shark looking good as a future stud Sharkman37
    8 outta 13 quality starts

    Bob Jone
    ScreenHunter_199 Oct. 13 08.47.jpg

This guy has been abusing right handers so far. Even thought he is as good as the janitor vs left handers he is still carrying a very high ops+ Dylema
    -0.2 in LF/CF

    Jeffrey Davidson
    ScreenHunter_200 Oct. 13 08.51.jpg

Another guy for seattle who is raking right handers but can't hit water if he fell out a boat vs left handers. This guys has some very good potential and am looking forward to his progress. Dylema
    +3.1 ZR @ 2B

    Alejandro Paez

To be seen making his debut this sim

    Recap
This seriously might be the best rookie class in baseball history. Great start to 2024 fellas good luck the rest of the way. And sorry Colemanchu no National League guys aloud. Cant let you in and no one else. Here is a idea though start a NL version. Wonder how long this would take ?

Thanks for the recap. I'd like to throw in Garcia (from Osman trade) to replace Gilberto.
