That's what I said when I saw it. It's like he gave himself a top 5 pick in the lottery without doing it...
I was trying to decide between Mitchell and Williamson at #5. Went with Williamson mainly because of his development. No idea how Mitchell fell all the way to #16.
What was his bonus demand? I'm trying to remember from when i was making my pick and its escaping me.
I have a list set for when it's my turn, so if it doesn't go ahead and take from it right away you can auto it.
That's what i thought. Have you heard the song "I'm a bad ass bitch" well in Cleveland we like to sing "I'm a broke ass bitch"
Cubs pick is in. Cubs had a hard decision between 2 pitchers, but chose the closer. We have a lot of starting pitching in the ML that is young and a couple of pretty good starting prospects in the minors, but have no lockdown late inning guy. That changes now with Ladd joining the system. Drifterbub is up.
The New York Mets select SP Steve Mills from Ole Miss. Mills marks the first knuckleballer that GM Drifter has selected in recent drafts and adds a different approach within their farm system. "Pitchers who throw a good knuckle are hard to come by, but you get a guy who can command that pitch and it spells trouble for opposing lineups." said GM Drifter in the post draft news conference. Mills joins a top 5 minors organization alongside a few other good pitching prospects that GM Drifter hopes will solidify the future success of the franchise. kdpnutter You are up
Houston takes SS/SP Michael "Taz" Poe. Astros liked the versatility from the 18 year old high-schooler out of the Bay Area. Taz shows potential to play multiple positions in the field and has good defensive ratings to go with it, the bat has some nice potential with some pop to come. When it's all said and done, we may see Poe stick to the mound as he has 60.60.65 potential with high stamina. This year in high school "TAZ" hit .505 avg with 9 HR in 107 AB's to go along with his 9-0 record .99 era and a 154/16 K/BB ratio
I liked him a lot. The ceiling is incredibly high and he is an amazing athlete. He is very, very young. So we'll see what he blossoms into.
I was hoping he'd fall to me, but he didn't. But I probably would have taken Ladd over him due to me lacking on any sort of bullpen arms in the system.
I'm on road today, I've set my list picks and have about 65 guys on it so I should be good for a while.
He was one of two guys that Tampa Bay was looking at as well....that was until I was shown a video of a kid throwing baseballs through brick walls. Dru has been known to become enamored with measurables in other sports, and ultimately the scouts couldn't disuade him from drafting CL Juan Su with his first ever pick as GM. http://ootp.traditionsportsonline.com/the_dugout/reports/html/players/player_29437.html Juan has been clocked throwing at speeds that broke the gun. "101+ bitches!!!!" was heard when Dru scouted him recently. He looks like he could have an elite level fastball and splitter and is fairly well developed already. Also of interest is that he has an 8 stamina rating and generates 61% in ground balls. I'm not really sure what all that means, but it sounded good at the time.
Damnit, you had to quote the post before I fixed it. Posted it when half zoned out last night and didn't realize he went before me. Woke up this morning, read through the thread and saw me post it, and was thinking, "Wait, he wasn't there when I picked..."
