With the 21st overall pick, the Los Angeles Angels took SS/2B Keith "Slippery [When Wet]" Moody. The decision came down to Moody and Michael "Taz" Poe, the latter of which went to ty5oke and his division rivals Houston, which could potentially set up a great story line. Will LA live to regret passing on Taz? Will Taz carry that chip on his shoulder and take it out on LA for years to come? Stay tuned... As for Moody, he has all the makings of a star middle infielder who can get on base and play excellent defense. With off the charts intangibles, there are suggestions the Angels might try him out at 3B as well, provided his infield arm strength continues to develop. Moody projects to be a 4 tool player, only lacking power. While not essential, GM Peench would love to see Moody utilize his speed with a bit more pop into the gaps. We'll see how it all shakes out. As always, I expect OOTP to keep us on our toes.
The Oakland A's won the lottery this past year (thanks Game Genie) and quickly took Joseph "Eppa" Keller. As has been said before, the guy is a beast in the making. With 80 Potential ratings for both stuff and control, while having a solid 65 potential for movement, the stuff is clearly electric. His defense is solid, and he can hold runners as well. He has a 3 pitch arsenal with a 60/75 Fastball, 50/70 Curve and a 50/80 Change. A decision hasn't been made what level he will be put in, but he is expected to rise quickly. The A's won't rush him, but they won't waste his talent in AAA either. Look for Keller to get a taste of MLB in 2030 and probably be in the starting rotation by 2031. http://ootp.traditionsportsonline.com/the_dugout/reports/html/players/player_34634.html In the second round, The A's grabbed a HS arm that has a 4 pitch arsenal that has three 60 potential pitches and 1 55 potential. With Stuff Movement at 60 and Control at 65, this young kid could be a solid number 2 or 3 starter down the line. He has a long way to go, but with a solid makeup and a slot signing bonus Wise was a solid pick for the A's. http://ootp.traditionsportsonline.com/the_dugout/reports/html/players/player_20239.html
