With the 6th pick in the 2030 MLB Draft the Colorado Rockies select SS Tad "Mad Bomber" Lewis from Westminster Academy (Opelousas,LA). The Rockies looked at taking a SP that was 1 or 2 years away from being in the majors but ultimately chose to take Lewis who will be the future star SS of the Rockies and reminded the organization of there former star SS from back in the day, Troy Tulowitzki.
The rangers select SP Max Larsen. Although he's only 18, we love his high work ethic and we feel he could reach his potentials by the time he's 21 or so. We thought about the SP Miller since he's dubbed to be more ready, but his low intelligence and work ethic turned us off. At work so not sure who's next.
The Rockies have been pretty good at SS in The Dugout. After Tulowitzki, they had multiple time all star McMillan playing there.
We've got The Tornado and now we've got Whirlwind! Batters won't know what hit em! Loved how developed he is already. We're hoping he's ready to taste the big leagues by roster expansion of next season.
With the 9th pick in the 2030 draft, the Angels select SP Eric Atkinson. Atkinson, who played both CF and P for the University of Florida (paging: soxandgators ), will be expected to be on the hill for the Angels. With 2 great pitches and very high intelligence, we hope to do what Drifterbub tried to do with "Hammerhead" Ortega. If he can't develop some stamina and/or a third pitch, he may just be one of the best closers in the league.
The Baltimore Orioles happily select the #1 player on their board, C Preston Irwin. We think his upside is higher than anyone else in the draft. His bat has the ability to be the best in all of baseball, and he should also round into a well above average receiver by the time that he's ready.
Blue Jays Select: 1B Alberto Molina Toronto went with the player they felt was the best bat left on the board and should reach the majors around the same time as top prospects Will Holmes and Colby Saunders.
The San Diego Padres select Vincent 'Hot Rod' Hampton out of Long Beach. Hampton's potential bat and defensive versatility made him a no brainer pick for us despite some character concerns and a lack of development at 20 years old. Bondzai is on auto and then I believe it is krtgolfing
Hampton was at the top of my list so Kansas City went with.... Should be a good hitter and is very versatile in the field.
The Mets take a flyer on a guy who shows promise with a deep repertoire of pitches despite struggling with control from time to time. We feel that we can develop him in our farm and 'Nac' could be a top-end of the rotation for us in the future. Richardson is one of the most dominant high school pitchers NJ has ever seen. However, Richardson is young and we will need to pay close attention to him in the farm.
With the 17th selection in the amateur draft, the Boston Red Sox select Dave "The Comet" Cromartie. Cromartie coming out of Baltimore slipped with his lack of stamina as a starting pitcher and only having half his games as starts. Cromsartie almost slipped to the hometown Orioles with the next pick but Boston saw the high intelligence and work ethic as well as loyalty being high. Comet isn't a team leader but that's okay we have quite a few leaders in Boston. Drafting Cromartie made it even more sweeter to keep him from getting taken by the hometown Orioles. Cromartie is a durable starter which is good and we will try to stretch out the 18 year old and get that stamina up. At only 5'11 and 170 pounds he certainly is not a towering figure out on the mound but at only 18, we are hoping he bulks up. He has two plus pitches in his splitter and curveball with a decent fastball. Close to a 60% groundball ratio looked good for Boston and if unable to stretch him out Boston can use him in the bullpen as well as in long relief if need be, but are hopes are to get Comet as a solid starter and with the emergence of international signing Yi, and last years first rounder Sylvester Leonard and two years ago Keith Walker, Boston looks to have some solid arms in the system to either watch develop or if we feel necessary to deal in terms for an established superstar. Coming into the draft Boston with the philosophy of BPA and will stick with that thru the remainder of the draft. ryalaman your up.
