New Owner Billy Carter's acquisition of the team has been a ride none the less. In his first game as owner the 49ers hosted NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks. It was an exciting week for the new owner as his team came away with a 37-21 victory. The defense came to play only giving up 168 yds passing and 63 yds rushing, with 5 sacks and 3 takeaways. The offense played decent gaining 129 yds through the air and 238 on the ground. Carlos Hyde had 166 yds on 18 carries with 1 TD. Colin Kaepernick was 9/17 with two TD's and two INT's The next game was a barn burner as the 49ers faced the St. Louis Rams. The 49ers were able to build a 1st half lead only to watch it slip away in the second half. The St. Louis Rams came out fired up in the 2nd half and took the lead late in the 4th. The 49ers were able to mount a drive to tie it up, and take the game to overtime. In OT the 49ers were able to come away with a 34-31 win. The Defense gave up 261 yds through the air, but played decent run defense only giving up 61 yds. Offensively the 49ers gained 216 yds through the air, and 174 yds on the ground. Owner Billy Carter was heard saying after the game, "I don't how many more games like this I can endure. It was just to close for comfort." The next week the 49ers fell to the undefeated Atlanta Falcons in a heartbreaker. The Falcons running game along with a bomb to Julio Jones was just to much to overcome. The defense gave up 251 yds through the air, and 148 on the ground. Matt Ryan was 13/18 for 262, 1 TD, 1 INT. Justin Forsett had 17 carries for 72 yds, and Tevin Coleman had 13 carries for 68 yds. The 49ers offense played mistake free football but was only able to gain 190 yds through the air, and 82 yds on the ground. Kaepernick was 14/24 for 190 and 1 TD. Carlos Hyde had 21 carries for 69 yds and 2 TD's The 49ers had a bye week in week 10, and spent the week of practice going over the playbook, both offense and defense. In week 11 the 49ers were set to face the Seattle Seahawks, however there was a scheduling conflict and the 49ers came away with a 34-3 win putting them at 5-5 with a big division game in week 12 against the Arizona Cardinals.
