The Iowa Hawkeyes walked into Bloomington as huge favorites carrying the #9 ranking in the AP Poll. Though the score looked close, Iowa was ahead most of the game despite it's offense. Both offenses sputtered in the 1st quarter going back and forth with short drives and three and outs. Iowa MLB James Morris jumpstarted the Hawkeyes with a 35 yard pick 6 on IU's Roberson. Indiana would march back down the field and tie the game up on a 5 yard scamper from Houston. The Hawkeyes offenses began clicking and would score the next 2 touchdowns on passes of 46 and 3 to Zach Derby and Keenan Davis. Iowa was up 21-7 going into the half. Coming out of halftime both offenses sputtered and both offenses turned over the ball multiple times. Each team was only bale to muster FGs until the Hoosiers would score a TD with 41 seconds to go in a game that was never in doubt. When coach Mason was asked about his teams performance, he said: "It was ugly, but we will take it, a win is a win."
