#9 USF (8-1) Survives the User Gauntlet: Takes Out #11 Rutgers (8-2) 31-25

Coach Blaza kicked off 2010 with high hopes for his inaugural season at the helm; mainly because all of their conference USER games were home games. Well long story short, that didn't turn out so well as the Bulls were beaten in all 3 contests including a loss to CPU Louisville.

Fast forward to 2011 and aspirations were tempered as USF lost some solid talent and had to face all 3 USER Big East teams on the road back to back. The Bull faithful hoped to take 2 out of 3. After beating Pittsburgh and Louisville, a win versus 2010's conference title winners, Rutgers, would've been icing on the cake. Bull fans were in for a treat as the Bulls slid into pole position in the conference by beating the Scarlet Knights on the road 31-25.

South Florida was once again led by the outstanding play of JR Quarterback BJ Daniels. To put it simply, the kid was magnificent in the first half, hitting on his first 19 passes. Developing as passer, Daniels made the right reads time and time again putting the Knights in a 21-3 hole at the half. Daniels would finish the day 20-27 with 2 TDs.

The Scarlet Knights finally woke up in the 2nd half scoring 15 points in the 3rd quarter to USFs zero. The Bulls looked to play a bit more conservatively. and two turnovers by Daniels allowed the Knights to get well into striking range. JR Scatback Lindsey Lamar was able to chew clock and keep Rutgers at bay. The 5'8" 165 lb Lamar was able to use his speed to gash the Scarlet Knights in the second half. He finished with 89 yards on 17 rushes to go along with another 40 yards receiving on 5 catches.

Once again Coach Blaza recognized the stellar play of Impact Corners George Baker and Quenton Washington. Baker finished the game with a critical interception while Washington manned up on Sanu and had 3 pass deflections.

The win catapults South Florida to #1 in the Big East. Barring a catastrophic breakdown the Bulls will win the Big East and keep their fingers crossed to get the help they need to play in the National Title Game.
