The Road to the Orange Bowl
Welcome to the ACC Blog!
Week 2: Early season test
In a matchup of top 25 teams, The Florida St. Seminoles will travel to Austin to play probably one of the most talented teams in the country. Lead by HB Jared Stanley, the 6'1 214lb runner had over 180yds rushing with 3 scores in the Longhorns debut. In order for The Noles to even have a chance in this one, they must contain the versatile back for the entire football game.Prediction: FSU gives it all it has, but the talent and depth of Texas to much down the stretch........Texas 35- FSU 24.
Really interesting early season match-up at DKR. I'll say FSU 35 Texas 31
Week 5 -
Virginia Tech is 3-1 coming off a huge win against #11 Auburn. The areas of concern, Turnovers.... Tech gave up 8 turnovers. Even though the turnover battle was lost by -3 the keys to victory for the Hokies was controlling the ball and capitalizing on good field posion. Converting 9-15 3rd downs gave the advantage to the Hokies by allowing them to control the clock (T.O.P. 20+ mins) for the win. Final score 31-21
Florida St (3-1) moved up to the #9 spot after defeating Georgia Tech in a convincing 49-21 smackdown. FSU defense shutdown the option run only allowing 78 yards off of 36 rushing attempts while managing to bust 204 yards on 21 attempts and 68 yards receiving for a total of 5 TDs with RB Anthony Lewis.
Anothony Lewis recieved the National Player of the Week award and moved to the #3 spot in the Heisman race after this performance.
ACC Stat leaders for Week 5
Never thought about doing the stats like that... and I'm not surprised that forever leads in everything
#7 FSU vs #6 Miami:
The Seminoles never really threatened in this game as the Hurricanes did what they wanted to do all game long. They rushed for over 200yds and broke numerous tackles throughout the contest. The Miami QB was damn near perfect, even with constant pressure in his face. He did through 3 ints, but the defense of The U blanketed the Nole offensive receivers and ran the routes better than they did. It was a terrible game, period!!!
FSU vs Clemson: The winner of this game will represent the Atlantic conference in the ACC Championship Game. The Noles have gone to the ACC CHampionship Game the past four years; winning 3 of them in the process including the last two.
Keys to Victory: The FSU Seminoles will rely heavily on the run game and JR HB, Anthony Lewis. Lewis is amongst the tops in the nation in several categories, including rush td, rushing yards and yard per carry. If he can stay healthy in the game, look for some big number in this one........
TO BE CONTINUED............
Week 11- Race to the Orange Bowl
#5 VT is 8-1
#8 FSU is 8-2 (1 conference loss to MIA)
#15 Miami is 8-2 (2 conference losses to VT and GT)
Va Tech...still a shot to make it to Glendale.
You know VT is flying under the radar this season... I think we need to bring more attention to 'em and see if they can handle some national attention
If FSU can win out, which is a Gigantic "IF", They will without a doubt, be playing for another National Title!
Tech is unfortunatly known for choking under the national spotlight ....lol
Glendale isnt likely since WVU went undefeated this season and if LSU beats UF in the SEC CCG LSU will get the #2 spot in Glendale.
Never mind, LOL!
You getting there isn't that far out of reach. You just need these things to happen:
You need your ACC partner forever to knock off Florida
Then you need Florida to knock off LSU in the SEC title game
And then you need to handle your business in the ACC
Be ready for Hawaii or Ohio to make the national title game if all that happens
I doubt Ohio jumps all the way down to make the NC game. Hawaii is beasting too? Haven't looked at the polls because I'm being superstitious right now. Don't wanna get caught looking and miss my opportunity for a 5th star this offseason
