    ACC Team Scenarios

The ACC scenarios are a BIT more complicated than the SEC's. This is mainly because so many of the teams in competition for the key spots play each other in the last weeks.

    ACC Atlantic:

    Team CONF REC
    Boston College 5-2 8-2
    Clemson 4-3 7-3

    Boston College

Boston College controls their own destiny along the path to the ACC Championship game. A win this week against Virginia will seal the deal. A loss against Virginia and the Eagles have to hope that Wake Forest can upset the Clemson Tigers, since the Tigers defeated Boston College a few weeks ago and would win the head-to-head tiebreaker. Their season finale against Syracuse is basically meaningless, even though they will be highly favored.

    Likely Bowl Scenarios:
Orange (Win vs Virginia, Win ACC Championship Game),

Sun (Win vs Virginia, Loss ACC Championship Game),

Chick-Fil-A (Loss vs Virginia, Win vs Syracuse, Get Chosen Over Virginia, Virginia Tech, or Miami),

Champs Sports or Meineke Car Care (Loss vs Virginia and Syracuse OR Virginia, Virginia Tech, or Miami get chosen for Chick-Fil-A over BC)

Clemson has been coming on strong with much-needed wins over the last few weeks. After dramatic victories against Boston College and Florida State, the Tigers are now in a position to make it to the ACC Championship with a win against Wake Forest coupled with a Boston College Loss to Virginia this week. Either way, they will know their ACC fate by the end of this week. Then, they can shift their focus to a clash with in-state rival, South Carolina. A win against the Gamecocks would be a huge win to the program, but would probably do little to alter the Tigers' postseason destination.

    Likely Bowl Scenarios:

Orange (Win vs Wake Forest and BC Loss vs Virginia, Win ACC Championship),

    Sun (Loss in ACC Championship),

Chick-Fil-A (BC and Virginia Go to ACC Championship, Virginia Tech chosen for BCS at-large spot, Chosen over Miami for invitation),

Champs Sports (Loss vs Wake Forest OR BC Goes to ACC Championship and ACC Coastal #2 goes to Chick-Fil-A, Chosen over Miami for Invitation),

Meineke Car Care (Loss vs Wake Forest OR BC Goes to ACC Championship and ACC Coastal #2 goes to Chick-Fil-A, Miami Chosen for Champs Sports Bowl)

    ACC Coastal:

    Team CONF REC
    Virginia 6-0 9-1
    Virginia Tech 6-0 9-1
    Georgia Tech 3-4 5-5

Virginia has had an outstanding year! If it weren't for a rough loss to the USC Trojans back in week 2, the Cavaliers would be in the discussion for a National Championship. Unfortunately, the pollsters have mostly forgotten about the Cavaliers, ranking them at #23 going in to the upcoming week. Nevertheless, the Cavaliers are a win against Virginia Tech away from the ACC Championship game. It's a very tough road before they can get to the Orange bowl, though. They have to get by Virginia Tech and then they have an interesting situation in front of them to determine their potential championship game opponent. This week they play Boston College, and if the Eagles win, they will be in the ACC Championship. Then, if Virginia gets by Virginia Tech, the ACC Championship game would be a rematch between Virginia and Boston College just four weeks later! If they get by both Virginia Tech and Boston College, then they will most likely take on Clemson in the ACC Championship game. It will certainly be an interesting last few weeks of the season in Charlottesville,VA.

    Likely Bowl Scenarios:

Orange (Win Out OR Loss vs BC, Win vs Virginia Tech, and Win vs BC in ACC Championship)

Sun (Win vs Virginia Tech, Loss vs ACC Coastal in ACC Championship)

Chick-Fil-A (Loss vs Virginia Tech, Selected over BC, Clemson, and Miami for Invitation)

Champs Sports or Meineke Car Care (Loss vs Virginia Tech, BC, Clemson, or Miami chosen for Chick-Fil-A)

    Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech has been knocking on the door of greatness for years now. This could have been the year for the National Championship if the Hokies hadn't lost in the season opener against Boise State. Still, the Hokies are in good position, ranked #6, and still have a prayer to make it in to the National Championship with quite a bit of help from some friends. The Hokies have to get by the in-state rival Cavaliers before they can even book a trip to the ACC Championship game, but with wins over Miami and Virginia, and a win at the ACC Championship game, the Hokies would finish no worse than 5th. However, #1 Florida still has a game against Florida State, as well as the always-difficult SEC Championship game. #2 Nebraska still has to get by Texas A&M and Colorado before taking on whoever the heck comes out of the Big 12 South in the Big 12 Championship game. #3 Ohio State and #5 Iowa play each other, effectively knocking one team out of the picture and Ohio State still has to get by Michigan. #4 Boise State will be heavily favored against Fresno State and Utah State, but crazier things have happened. So they still have hope, and they are the only ACC team that can say that, but they need a LOT of help.

    Likely Bowl Scenarios:

    National Championship (See Above)

Orange (Win vs Virginia Tech, Win ACC Championship Game)

BCS At-Large (Win vs Miami and Virginia Tech, Loss ACC Championship Game, Pray for a phone call from one of the BCS bowls)

Sun (Win vs Virginia Tech, Loss ACC Championship Game)

Chick-Fil-A (Loss vs Virginia Tech, Chosen Over BC, Clemson, or Miami)

Champs Sports or Meineke Car Care (Loss vs Virginia Tech, Chick-Fil-A Bid Given to BC, Clemson, or Miami)

    Georgia Tech

Well, the situation could be better. But, it sure is difficult to be an option team some years (*cough cough* EA *cough*). It's been one dramatic season for the Ramblin' Wreck, winning and losing 3 games a piece by 6 points or less. Still, the Yellow Jackets will become bowl eligible with a win over Duke this week, so that is certainly good news. And they could certainly upset the 4-7 Georgia Bulldogs in their season finale. So, a 7-5 season would be respectable. They are most likely looking at a 4-4 in-conference record, which would most likely land them in 6th place in the ACC. Still, Georgia Tech needs to make sure they get by at least Duke so that they do, in fact, become bowl eligible.

    Likely Bowl Scenarios:

Menieke Car Care (Win vs Duke, VT Receives BCS Bowl Invitation, Chosen Over Miami, Maryland, and North Carolina)

Gaylord Hotels Music City (Most Likely Destination, Win vs Duke, VT does not receive BCS invitation OR VT does receive BCS invitation and Miami, Maryland, or North Carolina are rewarded Car Care bid)

Independence or EagleBank (Loss vs Duke OR Miami, Maryland, or North Carolina are given Music City bid)

Kraft Fight Hunger (lol at the bowl name, They would only end here if things went horribly wrong)

Great work! Right now i'm in a 3-step process: Step 1- Beat Virginia to get too ACC Champ Game, Step 2- Win ACC Champ, Step 3- Win BCS Bowl. Gotta complete one step at a time.

Bosox.. i have been taking the same approach. That shootout with maryland had me on the ropes. Virginia D hasnt given up that much all season long. Headed into to vital games with BC and VT. Awesome way to end the season.
