The Chiefs entered a string of three straight games that could possibly decide the division. They lost their first contest to the Broncos in a close game. Not only did they lose the game, they lost arguably one of the best running backs in the NFL for 5 weeks to a dislocated knee cap.

The Chargers came into Arrowhead looking to upset the Chiefs. Daniels got the start at QB for the first time this season. Alex Smith was doubtful in this one so they opted to let him sit for one more week to heal up for the big rematch against the Broncos.

However, they did not overlook this Chargers team. San Diego got on the board first with a Nick Novak 42 yard field goal. The Chiefs would storm back and back up running back Shaun Draughn would punch it in from 1 yard to put the Chiefs up 7-3. Ryan Succop would kick a 39 yard field goal at the end of the half to give the Chiefs a 7 point lead, 10-3. The third quarter was all about defense. Poor quarterback play by both teams, mixed with velcro like coverage kept both offenses at bay. Early in the fourth, the Chiefs would make the play of the day. Derrick Johnson would blow up a screen pass and Justin Houston would scoop up the fumble and return it 15 yards for the score and the nail in the coffin. A late Succop fieldgoal rounded out the scoring at 20-3.
