    Alabama 2013 Preview

This Alabama team looks strong on paper. But they will have to make the necessary adjustments for the players they lost in the off season. Probably the biggest question mark will be at the quarterback position. AJ McCarron will take over for the departed Star Jackson. AJ is a talented passer but doesn't have the athletic ability that Star did. The offensive playcalling will obviously be a little different with him under center than it was with Star. The running back position will still be well represented with Trent Richardson. Trent was second on the team in rushing last season and will carry of the majority of the load this season with fullback Mike Marrow leading the way. The receiving corps will be lead by one of the best in the country in Kendall Kelly. His sixe and speed are a deadly combination. Preseason All-American TE Stephen Cole will be an asset to McCarron at 6'7". The offensive line looks to be a strong group. DJ Fluker will be the leader and play left tackle but the group as a whole is very strong. Redshirt freshman Jacob Wesley will start at right tackle and needs to keep up the strong performance he has had in practice. Redshirt sophomore left guard Ryan Jones looks to be a key cog in the line as well and has already garnered Preseason All-American honors.

On defense Alabama looks to move to more of a 3-4 defense this season. Redshirt junior Clay Johnson will take over the left defensive end spot as All-American senior Donny Lowe will be back on the right side. Senior Brandon Moore will be a force at nose tackle. Redshirt junior Dwayne Stevenson will start at left OLB with redshirt sophomore Joel Nichols on the right. Redshirt sophomore Jared Cole and senior Jonathan Atchison will man the middle. This linebacking corps lacks experience with the exception of Atchison but has a lot of potential. All-American senior Dre Kirkpatrick will lockdown on corner spot while converted SS redshirt junior Nick Bain will takeover the other. Senior FS and quarterback of the defense Kyle Archer is back playing centerfield. Redshirt junior Fred Kelly will take over the SS spot and will be an obstacle in the defensive backfield at 6'5".

Redshirt junior Alonzo Murphy will handle the kicking and punting duties again while Kendall Kelly and Trent Richardson will be the primary kick returners.

Alabama looks poised to make another run at the SEC Championship and hopefully a National Championship, should be a fun ride. ROLL TIDE ROLL!
