Alabama Crimson Tide - Roll Tide 2010

REVENGE! ALABAMA RALLIES TO BEAT PENN STATE 37 - 31

Down 17 - 0 after 1 quarter and 31 - 21 at the half, the Crimson Tide prevented a repeat of last year's national title game by actually completing the come back!

In the first quarter, Penn State silenced the Crimson Tide crowd with this 25 yard return of a tide fumble on the kickoff to take a 14 - 0 lead.

Penn State continued their domination throughout the first half taking a 31 - 14 lead with 46 seconds to go in the half. Alabama needed to do something to take some momentum into the second half. Of course, JULIO stepped up with this catch with 6 seconds to go to make it 31 - 21 at the half. It really helps to have an obscene vertical and 6'4 height.

In the Second half, The Crimson Tide Defense held the Nittany Lions scoreless and used these two defensive plays to come away with a victory. This first play gave the Tide their first lead, 34 - 31.

And this Penn State fumble with 1:30 left in the game with Bama leading 37 - 31.

After being dominated by Julio Jones less than a year ago, Coach Dogslax and Arkansas came out with a focus on stopping the Heisman trophy winner. The Razorbacks managed to hold Julio to his worst game in 2 years: 4 catches for 38 yards. However, Alabama still managed to muster some offense and came away with a 24 - 14 hard fought victory. The main reason - turnovers. The Razorbacks had two large fumbles and 1 Interception in key situations which proved too much to overcome.

Star Jackson passed for 207 yards and 1 TD and Mark Ingram rushed for 119 on 20 carries to lead the Crimson Tide.

Play of the Game - With Bama leading 21 - 7 in the 4th, Arkansas receiver J. Adams fumbled in the end zone with only a 1/2 of yard to go for a TD. This play pretty much ended the game for the Razorbacks.

    Scoring Summary:

    Florida 30 @ Alabama 31

ALABAMA AND FLORIDA BATTLE IN ANOTHER CLASSIC, BAMA WINS 31 - 30

Similar to last years SEC Championship, Alabama and Florida put on another show. In what will mostly like go down as one of the great games of the season, Alabama rallied from a 24 - 0 second quarter deficit to edge the Gators, 31 - 30 in Tuscaloosa.

Florida came out ready to play as they jumped out to a 7 - 0 lead on this 47 yard touchdown pass from Brantley to Hammond Jr.

Only 1:20 later, Florida struck again on another long pass to TE A. Hernandez for a 61 yard touchdown. Unfortunately for Bama coach Ryty, Florida coach SDID immediately saw that he had a defensive end matched up man to man on one of the best TE's in the country.

After a Phillips 36 yard FG and another Hernandez touchdown catch, Florida had a 24 - 0 lead in the middle of the second quarter. What would happen next would be the turning point of the game. With Florida driving to take a commanding 31 - 0 lead, Alabama CB R. Green picked off a pass on the end zone and returned it 100 yards to get cut the Florida lead to 24 - 7. This play would give Bama some needed momentum to take into the second half.

In the 3rd quarter, Alabama scored 21 unanswered points on two Mark Ingram TD runs and another interception return for a TD.

In the 4th, Florida would mount two drives resulting in two field goals to take a 30 - 28 lead with 3 minutes to go. Alabama would drive down the field on a long capped off by a 39 year pass to Heisman Trophy Winner Julio to get the Tide in FG range. From there, Bama would kick a 31 yd FG to take the lead 31 - 30. On the ensuing drive, Florida QB Brantley would be picked off with under a minute remaining to save the game for the Tide.

    ALABAMA DEFEATS RIVAL TENNESSEE, 37 - 25

This year's "Third Saturday in October" rivalry between SEC foes Tennessee and Alabama was really not much of a contest. Alabama jumped out to a 27 - 3 lead and never looked back. The final score - Bama 37 Tennessee 25.

The #1 ranked Crimson Tide (until we play Texas...er...Nebraska...) were lead by QB Star Jackson who through for 308 yards and 2 TD's and a much improving defense. The D picked off 4 Stephens passes including a 46 return for a TD.

Next week for Bama - Home for Navy

BAMA SURVIVES SCARE AGAINST AUBURN, WINS 42 - 28

In a game they were expected to win easily, Alabama struggled to defeat Auburn 42 - 28 in the 2010 Iron Bowl. With Gene Chizik on his way out after two mediocre seasons in Auburn, the Tigers played with a renewed level enthusiasm (Could it be the hiring of Coach Zep?). In the first quarter, Alabama appeared to be poised to run Auburn off of Bryant-Denny field. Bama mounted a 13 play drive capped off by a 1 yard touchdown run from T. Grant. (Mark Ingram left the game on the second play from scrimmage with a bruised shoulder and did not return). After a Auburn 3 and out, Alabama looked to go up 14 - 0 when BAMA RB Grant fumbled inside the Auburn 20 yard line. Auburn recovered and drove down the field to tie the game. Bama came right back and quickly scored on a 10 yard pass from Jackson to Alexander to end the quarter.

In the Second quarter, once again Bama appeared to be taking over the game when they turned the ball over once more. This time, Grant's fumbled resulted in a 73 yard touchdown fumble return for Auburn to tie the game at 14. Two more scoring drives, one by each team, made the score 21 - 21 going into halftime.

Coming out of halftime with all of the momentum, Auburn quickly scored to take on 28 - 21 lead on a 42 yard touchdown pass to C. Slaughter. Here is the play -

However, Bama would not waver. 30 seconds later, Bama WR. D. Hanks would catch a short 3 yard out and take it 73 yards for a game tying TD. The Tide Defense would step up next with two TD's - one on a 14 yard interception return and the other on this Atchison fumble return:

The Bama D would hold up in the fourth quarter and Freshman RB Trent Richardson would be able to keep the Auburn offense off the field long enough to give the Tide the win.
