Alabama Crimson Tide - ROLL TIDE!

Week 1

AMES - In an absolutely crazy game, THE Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Iowa State Cyclones (KillerTiger89) 61 - 41.

The scoring started on the second play from scrimmage when sophomore Mark Ingram broke 3 tackles on his way to a 75 yard touchdown run to give Alabama a 7 - 0 lead. On the ensuing kickoff, Iowa State fumbled allowing Tyrone King to pick it up and go 27 yards to take a 14 - 0 lead in the first 44 seconds of the game. Unfortunately for the Cyclones, the first quarter didn't get much better after that fumble. After a few 3 and outs and 2 interceptions, Iowa State was staring at a 35 - 0 deficit.

The second quarter was played pretty evenly with both team scoring a TD. Nevertheless, Alabama went into the locker room at half with a 42 - 10 lead.

Game over right? Not so fast. Iowa State almost completed one of the greatest comebacks in college football history. 20 Seconds into the second half, Iowa State backup QB J. Tiller (the starter A. Arnaud was injured) threw a 77 yard strike to J. Carlson to get Iowa State going. After 24 straight points, the lead was cut to 42 - 34 with 1 minute to go in the third quarter. Unfortunately for Iowa State, a clipping call in the end zone with 56 seconds to go in the quarter gave Alabama a 44 - 34 lead. The clipping call in the end zone appeared to take all of the life out of the Cyclones. Alabama was able to score on the next series with a 59 yard strike to the Julio Jones. Alabama added another TD to start the fourth and never looked back.

Key Stats -

Iowa State:

QB J. Tiller - 30/50 for 494 yards and 1 TD with 5 INT's
HB A. Robinson - 14 attempts for 29 yards and 2 TD's
WR J. Carlson - 5 receptions for 161 yards and

Alabama:

QB G. McElroy - 9/17 for 246 yards and 3 TD's with 2 INT's
HB M. Ingram (Player of the Game) - 27 carries for 285 yards and 4 TD's.
WR J. Jones (Best WR in the country?) - 5 receptions for 120 yards and 1 TD

Week 3 -

The Star Jackson era has officially begun in Alabama. The Red Shirt Freshman threw for 262 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Crimson Tide defeated the Louisville Cardinals 38 - 20 in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium (really...the Papa John's Cardinal Stadium?).

Alabama took control of the game in the first half with 3 Star Jackson touchdown passes of 31, 26 and 4 yards to All American Julio Jones. Unfortunately for Louisville, they were only able to muster 88 yards of offense and 7 points in the first half. The Crimson Tide took a 24 - 7 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Cardinals struck quickly with a 16 yard touchdown run by V. Anderson. With the Papa John's Cardinal crowd sensing a chance to get back in the game, the Crimson Tide went on a methodical 16 play drive capped off by a 1 yard Ingram TD run to take the steam out of the crowd. Alabama dominated the rest of the way and coasted to victory.

Next week figures to be a tough one for the Tide as the Arkansas Razorbacks visit. This will be both team's first SEC battle of the season.

Arkansas Razorbacks 10 @ Alabama Crimson Tide 38

On the back of the obscene leaping ability of WR Julio Jones, the Crimson Tide cruised to a 38 - 10 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The game started off with Arkansas driving methodically down the field to the Alabama 20 yard line via a strong running game. Unfortunately, Arkansas had to settle for a 39 yard field goal by A. Tejada.

On Alabama's first possession, the razorbacks forced a quick 3 down and 18 when Julio Jones jumped over two Arkansas defenders to snag the ball on his way to a 85 yard touchdown. (play of the game)

On the following Arkansas possession, the Razorbacks again moved right down the field behind strong playcalling by coach dogslax. The drive was capped off by a 2 yard td run by M. Smith to give Arkansas a 10 - 7 lead.

But that would be the last time that Arkansas was close as the Crimson Tide scored 24 points in the second quarter to take a 31 - 10 at the half. The key play in the second quarter was a 51 yard touchdown pass from Star Jackson to Mike McCoy.

In the second half, the talent of the Alabama defense took over as they shutout the Razorbacks.

Alabama defense dominates Ole Miss

The Alabama defense was able to hold the Rebel offense to 101 yards of total offense while the Bama offense continued to roll.

Play of the Game - With Alabama leading 10 - 7 and 7 seconds left in the 1st half, Julio Jones inexplicably got behind the Rebel defense in route to a 64 yard TD pass with no time on the clock. Why Ole Miss played man to man without a deep safety with 7 seconds left in the half is beyond me...

Key Stats -

Alabama:

RB Mark Ingram - 16 carries for 83 yards and a TD
WR Julio Jones - 5 catches for 131 yards and a TD

Ole Miss:

QB Jevon Snead - 11 for 30 for 100 yards and 3 picks (sacked 5 times)
Team Rushing - 30 carries for 3 yards

Key Injury -

Bama RB Mark Ingram will be out for 3 weeks with back spasms.

Alabama 62 Texas 59 in OT

In a miracle finish for the Crimson Tide, Alabama was able to escape a with a win over the better prepared and better coached South Carolina Team.

Play of the Game - Alabama trailed 59 - 51 with 3 seconds to go. South Carolina just kicked a field goal. All they had to do was prevent a kick return for a touchdown and the upset would be complete. Unfortunately for the Gamecocks, the kicker (even though he got everything into it) only managed to kick the ball to the opposing 20 yard line. Javier Arenas was able to get a running start to field the ball and basically ran untouched through the South Caroling defense to score. (Robo AI appeared to take over...) On the 2 point conversion, Star Jackson connected with Mike McCoy on a quick slant to tie the game and send it into OT.

The Alabama defense was completely shredded by the Gamecock passing attack. The SC QB combo of Aramis Hillary and Stephen Garcia threw for 616 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Alabama also had good success offensively as Alabama was able to throw for 467 yards and 6 touchdowns but did have 7 interceptions.

Key Stats -

Alabama -

QB Star Jackson - 26 for 40 for 6TD and 7 Interceptions
RB T. Grant - 16 carries for 62 yards
WR Julio Jones - 7 receptions for 157 yards and 2 TD's
WR Mike Mccoy - 7 receptions for 147 yards and 2 TD's.

South Carolina -

QB Aramis Hillary - 6 for 8 for 186 and 2 TD's
QB Stephen Garcia - 14 for 20 for 430 and 4 TD's
RB Eric Baker - 31 carries for 35 yards.
WR Joe Hills - 5 receptions for 225 yards and 3 TD's.

Will this close win over a talent inferior team hurt the Crimson Tide with the voters?

Finally! Alabama receives 3 commits -

1. 5* Center Terry Patton from D'iberville, MS. Patton is the 5th ranked prospect in the country. He had offers from Florida State and Tennesee.

2. 4* Guard Clint Carrington from Adamsville, AL. Carrington is ranked the 49th best prospect in the country. He had offers both Florida and Miami.

3. 3* OLB Brendan Jones from Adamsville, AL (we like Adamsville). Jones is ranked the 22nd best OLB in the country. Other schools interested were Notre Dame and Florida State.

Also, we have three 5* soft verbals that I hope become hard commits next week! One of them is the top ranked player in the nation.

ALABAMA REMAINS UNDEFEATED, BEATS LSU 40 - 16

The game was much closer than the 40 -16 score may indicate. Alabama controlled the first 3 minutes of the first quarter taking a 14 - 0 lead on a long methodical drive capped off by a 5 yard Mark Ingram TD run and a 22 yard interception return for a touchdown by Javier Arenas (the man that ran back the kickoff with 3 seconds to go in the South Carolina game)

However, coach Droweezy didn't let the Tigers panic. Using the fleXbox One, the Tigers were able use a strong running attack lead by Charles Scott to pretty much control the end of the first quarter and almost the entire 2nd quarter. Unfortunately, LSU was only able to come away with one Touchdown and 2 long field goals (55, 53). Alabama was able to gain some momentum going into the half with a few long passes to JULIO and some hard running by Mark Ingram. At the half, the score was 20 - 13 Alabama.

In the second half, the Alabama defense started to do a better job of containing the fleXbox One. LSU managed one long drive to start the 3rd, but had to settle for another field goal (36 yards). That would be the last time that LSU scored. Alabama would score the next 20 points on a long TD drive to end the third quarter and a 83 yard interception return by Woodall to pretty much ice the game.

Even though LSU lost, they were able to outgain Alabama 315 yards to 229 yards respectively. Also, the LSU defense held the vaunted Alabama offense to only 229 yards.

Key Stats -

Alabama:

QB Star Jackson - 10 for 15 for 189 yards and 1 int. (0 TD's)
RB Mark Ingram - 25 attempts for 74 yards and 1TD
WR Julio Jones - 4 catches for 97 yards (0 TD's )
DB Javier Arenas - 6 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 Sack, 2 Ints, 1TD

LSU:

QB Jordan Jefferson - 10 for 22 for 185 yards and 2 Int's
HB Charles Scott - 8 carries for 45 yards
WR Chris Mitchell - 6 Receptions for 113 yards
DE Rahim Alem - 8 Tackles, 4 TFL, 3 Sacks

Player of the Game - Javier Arenas

ALABAMA SURVIVES SCARE, DEFEATS NOTRE DAME 27 - 14

After defeating the Fighting Irish 27 - 14, the Crimson Tide are one victory over Auburn from completing a 12 - 0 perfect regular season.

ND/BAMA Highlights:

Alabama would strike first on this fantastic pass from Star Jackson to SR WR Mike McCoy to give the Crimson Tide a 7 - 0 lead.

Notre Dame would strike back in the 2nd quarter with this 7 yard TD run by A. Allen.

With the score tied 7 - 7, Alabama would look to their Heisman trophy candidate and best player, JULIO!

First, a 51 yard over the shoulder grab by JULIO....

and a fantastic leaping catch in the end zone to make the score 14 - 7. This would be the lead at the half.

After a 3rd quarter FG, the Tide would take a 17 - 7 lead. On the following possession, Notre Dame would come back with this 36 yard pass from Clausen to G. Tate and a 4 yard TD run by A. Allen to make it 17 - 14

However, that is the closest that Notre Dame would get. Charles Grant (replacement for Mark Ingram - out for the season with a broken wrist) would rush for over 100 yards in this game and control most of the 4th quarter.

Next up - Auburn
And finally...the SEC Championship against this guy....

LOL@ Meyer pic! It should be a classic. Tebow Child will be a factor, but so will Saban's 3-4 defense! You guys are tops in the nation at stopping the run, if I'm not mistaken

BAMA DOMINATES AUBURN, FINISHES REGULAR SEASON UNBEATEN

Alabama defeated Auburn 45 - 0 in the 2009 Iron Bowl. In a clear mismatch, Alabama dominated every facet of the game. They outgained Auburn 457 yards to 200 and picked off 4 Burns passes.

Here are some highlights of the game:

Fantastic catch JULIO in the back of the endzone (not sure he was in bounds!) -

After coming only a few yards short of a National Championship, the Crimson Tide will say goodbye to 20 contributing seniors including Thorpe Winner SS Justin Woodall, DT Terrence Cody, CB Javier Arenas, and Captain G Mike Johnson.

The good news is that only one underclassman decided to leave. Sophomore WR Brandon Gibson decided to transfer to Arkansas State.

Also, QB Star Jackson, Heisman Trophy winner Julio Jones, and RB Mark Ingram (hopefully he will be healthy!) will all be returning.:D
