Crimson Tide Game Summaries...
#10 VT (0-0) @ #6 Alabama (0-0)
VT 27 Bama 24
Although this certainly won't go down as his best game from a statistical standpoint, QB Tyrod Taylor will definitely take what is a big victory for this Virginia Tech team. Thanks to an effective running game, timely throws and a relentless defensive effort, the Hokies pulled out a close game, 27-24 in the waning minutes at Tuscaloosa last night. The Virginia Tech head coach pretty much summed up the consensus among his team after the game - "Great win for our kids, our program and our conference. Doesn't get any better than this."
Despite the final score, defenses ruled the day. Tech's Taylor threw three interceptions and lost a fumble, but thanks to a tremendous pass rush and solid pass coverage in the secondary, the Hokies' defense made sure those mistakes would not be too costly. Jason Worilds is well on his way to winning all sorts of post season honors, and could be a highly sought after prospect at the next level as well. He chipped in with nine tackles - seven of then for a loss, with five of those being sacks. Meanwhile, Barquell Rivers picked off two Alabama passes to halt drives. Alabama's defense enjoyed a similar measure of dominance, picking off Tyrod Taylor 3 times and putting him on the run for much of the day.
Ultimately, with all of the miscues and good defensive play, points came at a premium this game. Virginia Tech's coach mentioned as much during his presser when asked about opting to kick extra points rather than go for two, particularly when the score had been 13-14 against them. Alabama was at times very dominant with their running game, as Mark Ingram ran up more yardage by himself (24 car 180 yds 2 tds)than Virginia Tech did as a team. Unfortunately for the Crimson Tide, however, that did not translate into enough point. Leigh Tiffin ended up missing two attempts out of three in what turned out to be a three point loss
Players of the game: VT - Jason Worilds Bama - Mark Ingram
This was a great game, that came right down to the wire. It was pretty ugly on offense at times, but I happen to enjoy that sort of game. I really struggled in the passing game - Bama/Hack played really well in the secondary for most of the game, and also got some nice pressure. Lucky for me that I was able to get the same, and for some mistakes because he really ran it well that day. Those two missed kicks were killer.

Game Summary to come
Week #3 - Bye Week
Alabama needed to take a week off to fill in the holes that their team has been needing, after dropping a close first game and getting blown out in game number 2..
Coach hackgolfer said that the Tide needed to work on both sides of the ball, especially wrapping up tackles on the defensive side, to stop the big plays..
During this off week, Alabama was able to sign two recruits, which helped the team hang their heads high after two straight horrible weeks.
The first recruit committed was OLB Dwayne Stevenson.. Standing at 6'1" and 210 pounds, this run stopping linebacker looks to add more strength to top rated Alabama defense... Be looking for him to be making big hits next season..
The second recruit signedwas SS Fred Kelly.. Towering at 6'5" and weghing in at 190 pounds, Kelly is also a huge asset to the stacked defense. Look to see some forced fumbles coming out of this hard hitter..
Arkansas (1-1) @ #15 Alabama (0-2)

Arkansas tried to strike back early in the 4th quarter with a 10 yd run by RB M. Smith, but would never seen the end zone again.. Alabama would add a final FG halfway through the 4th to seal the deal on their first victory of the season..
Play of the Game:

The booth called for a review but could not overturn the call on the field (See video..) Bama added another score, as did Kentucky, however the game was starting to look out of reach for the Wildcats..
The Tide continued pounding the ball on the Wildcats early on in the 4th qtr, adding another FG and TD on a 36 yrd screen pass to RB Mark Ingram.. The wildcats were able to throw a 51 yd bomb for the TD with 1:30 left, but were unsuccessful on the onside kick, allowing Bama to wind down the clock and the game..

The defense continued to look hot, keeping the Ole Miss Rebels out of the red zone for the entire 3rd quarter and preventing any points.. Bama added a 46 yd FG late in the 3rd to take it to a 14 point lead..
After winding the clock out for most of the 4th quarter, the Ole Miss rebels were able to get the ball back and score with :30 seconds left in the game to get within 7.. A failed onside kick yielded the end of the game and Bama went on to be 3-0 in conference play..

Bama would add a 37 yd FG early in the second quarter to go up 10.. South Carolina would answer back on a long drive, coming away with a 25 yd FG with 0:46 seconds left in the half.. The Tide drove down the field with their "two minute" offense and put up another TD just before half time..

Ingram continued to pound the ball well on the ground, taking one in for the score in the first few seconds of the 4th quarter.. An interception on the Gamecocks next drive led to a 24 yd Bama FG.. Another poor series by South Carolina led to a punt and another TD drive by the Tide, placing the game out of reach for the 'Cocks.. They would make a long drive capped off with a TD and 2-pt conversion make it a two score game, but could not convert on the onside kick..
