    It has to do with a router. I'm in an apartment and am wired into the wall which I'm sure then goes to a router. The weird thing is that this keeps happening in this dynasty and I haven't yet had it happen in my other one. Unless you can plug straight into your modem I guess I'll go on AP. I might end up having to leave this dynasty if this continues... :/

    wouldnt seem like it would go to a router.. makes no sense

    I don't know much about how it works, but I believe that at my house it is similar. I have ethernet port in my wall in my room, but I believe that cord tracks down to a router which then goes into the modem. I think that helps because we have about 6 rooms with ethernet ports, and I believe they all have spots on a router. I could be completely wrong about that, but if so I would imagine that's the deal in my apartment complex as well.
