Madden 13 takes a little bit of football scheme knowledge compared to previous years. You can't come out in just any formation and run or defend the run. You really need to know how to play the situation. A lot of people who play know nothing about schemes and just do random crap.
I didn't even watch the video... The title "DOES RATINGS MATTER" told me everything that I needed to know... smfh...
We were told that Physics would Drive the Animations... Clearly, after watching the Videos, they don't... Also, a 5'' 160lb Left Tackle vs a 300lb Defensive Lineman? Why wouldn't he get thrown 5 yards EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! Would anyone have an issue, with that Left Tackle getting thrown to the ground EVERY SINGLE PLAY? I wouldn't have an issue at all... There is no way in hell a 160lb person can stand in front of a 300lb person and handle him the way he did in that video... SMFH I'm sure you've seen this... But, THIS is what would happen EVERY SINGLE PLAY if you put a 160lb player on the Offensive Line...And I don't understand why it can't happen like this in Madden... If "physics" are truly controlling this game, then this is EXACTLY what should happen, regardless of the difficulty setting...
While physics drives the animations, because of the memory issues with Gen3, physics can only be active around the ball carrier. So while I understand what your saying, physics isn't 100% everywhere on the field 100% of the time.
Physics or no physics... a 160lb player blocking a 300lb player MAKES ZERO "FOOTBALL" SENSE... There is no way that its humanly possible for a player that weighs 160lb to block a 300lb NFL Defensive Lineman... I don't care, if its user vs user... user vs cpu or cpu vs cpu... That Defensive Lineman should win that matchup EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!!!!!!!! Talk some sense into them Frisk.... PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Emmdotfrisk
Yes, I am aware that physics are not being represented away from the ball (clearly)... But I'm saying, physics or no physics, there is no excuse for a 160lb player to be able to block a 300lb player... It defies all Logical Thinking, to think that a player that small would stand any chance whatsoever vs a player that large...
Emmdotfrisk forget about the OL / DL... thats minor in the grand scheme of things I guess... The big question is... Is this issue with the game giving the wrong team the WIN in a Disco situation being looked at?
While I do see some of the issues with collison that was in the first video , I must say that a lot of us here at TSO want to see those interior issues fixed up here soon. I think the O-Line AI needs a tweek , we all see it and agree, I wonder how much that alone would improve both Madden and NCAA. The guy shows some flaws , but I prefer the new engine and working towards making it solid vs. what we had before. The arm going through a guy is annoying , but not nearly as much as a RG pulling left on a counter who has the FS in front of him to block to set up a TD , and he turns around and knocks me over lol. Not cool man , not cool. Overall , I am happy with the direction Madden is going.... perfect game ? no its not, but I have yet to play one in my 28yrs of gaming
The game is finally making great strides in the right direction. From the very first play of the demo I knew that this was WAY better then the Madden I was use to playing. With the type of effort I feel like EA has shown with M13, I can't help but feel like if we continue to support what they are doing they will continue to improve (lineman play ect... ). I don't expect miracles, I expect EA to listen to the fans and try to give us the best game possible, and I think that is what has been done with M13. Stuff like the videos showed is minimally annoying to me with all the goodies this game brings. For the first time in awhile I feel confident in the direction this game is heading.
They stated earlier this year that line play was note a point of emphasis as the had other major concerns to work out. Id rather have the line play be flawed than have a perfect line play and everything else be crappy. People need to wake up and understand it takes time and work to make a game. Think you can do better? Then do it. If not then let them continue where they are going and things will improve. This game is light years away from where it has been, and people complain about small issues. Who is going to play a 160 lab person on the line anyway? And about the line the emphasized it would be a focal point next year. That big of a problem? Sell ur game and play madden 12 or whatever.
The video thats posted proves that all the time we're going to spend Scouting, practicing and gaining XP means absolutely nothing... If a 5 foot, 160lb LT with 5 strength and 5 pass / run blocking can Hold his own vs a CPU DE, then what do the ratings even mean? Whats the point of building my players attributes, when clearly the attributes are NOT whats driving the gameplay... "What" is controlling the gameplay ON THE FIELD? Why do my WR's run faster when I'm controlling them? -- when you throw a Deep Ball, everyone switches to their WR and runs under the Pass because 99% of the time the CPU Controlled WR will NOT get to the ball... What kinda shit is that? In the 2nd video, where exactly were his linebackers going on that blitz? Why did they take the elongated route to the QB when their responsibilities on the play that was called, had them blitzing right through the Gaps??? I ask again... WHAT IS CONTROLLING THE GAMEPLAY ON THE FIELD? Emmdotfrisk
1. It only happens on default All-Madden, play All-Pro or find sliders. Not that hard 2. It isn't that they run faster as much as you trigger better animations and can get balls that are slightly out of reach. I still get overthrown when I user control and I have hit WRs without usering them, so your point is invalid. 3. I am assuming he made some kind of pre snap adjustment that caused that, if not it was a bug in the play design which happens every now and then. Not excusable, but it is a video game and comes with the territory
1. It only happens on default All-Madden, play All-Pro or find sliders. Not that hard -- not a valid solution... 5 foot 160lbs ON ANY DIFFICULTY should always end with the Same result (see Suh video) 2. It isn't that they run faster as much as you trigger better animations and can get balls that are slightly out of reach. I still get overthrown when I user control and I have hit WRs without usering them, so your point is invalid. -- I'm not talking about user Catching, I'm saying the Player runs faster when your controlling him... Thats complete garbage... he should be running to his Attributes, regardless if I'm controlling him or not... Does this mean that my Linebackers aren't running to their True Attributes? Would they also run fast if I user control them? My guess is YES, which again, is complete trash... 3. I am assuming he made some kind of pre snap adjustment that caused that, if not it was a bug in the play design which happens every now and then. Not excusable, but it is a video game and comes with the territory -- The "its a video game" argument is getting really played out... We've all been dealing with the same issues for YEARS... How hard is it to make the players play to their attributes, and make a game that respects the fundamental foundation of FOOTBALL? We were told that this game would give you 'everything you see on Sunday" well, I'm here to tell you , I've never Seen a 160lb Left tackle block a 300lb Defensive Lineman at any level of Football... How your "ok" with this because "its a video game" is laughable and is exactly what is wrong with the majority that play this game... Not enough people DEMAND PERFECTION -- I know it can't be perfect, but that should be the goal... Issues like this are just gamebreakers for me because they Defy All Football Logic and Reason RyanC
Ironic considering you apparently know nothing about either logic or reason with the way you are throwing a temper tantrum. If you don't like the game don't play it, but no use being on a crusade to make everyone think like you. I offered up perfectly fine, logically sound rebuttals and you threw a fit, so my advice would be to just shut up and go post somewhere like OS or Youtube that will listen to your whining and pat you on the back.
Your idea of a "fix" still doesn't solve the root of the problems... Which is, the game was built without sound football principles in mind... I'm not throwing a temper tantrum. I'm discussing a topic on a forum... If you would actually read what I wrote, I do enjoy the game, and as you can tell I'm passionate about it... If I didn't care, I wouldn't take the time to make posts or voice my displeasure with certain things... I'm not looking for a "pat on the back" from anyone... Its no secret that TSO has a number of EA Gamechangers registered here, that is where my posts are generally directed, because unlike you, or me, or any other person, those guys are actually able to sit down and talk to the guys that make the game... I value their input about issues such as the ones I've talked about... I'm not sure what you've been reading, but, I'm not on any type of "crusade"... Again, I'm passionate about Football, NCAA and Madden, and when I see things in the game that completely go against every ounce of reason and logic regarding "Football" I have to say something.
I might not play a 160lb LT with 5 strength in my Online Franchise, however, now that I know OLine means absolutely nothing for yet another year, I wont be spending any time scouting rookies, spending XP or doing anything of that nature that has to do with improving OLine... If that little guy can defy the laws of physics and block like that, then I have no worries about my 70 overall OLine... I'm sure they'll do just fine...
