For the players that you know aren't going to be an All-star but deserve to be. SS Mike "Gee Gee" Russell - Russell is hitting with the third best BA in the AL at .316 and has the third most SB with 34 and also plays top notch defense posting a + 3.4 ZR while playing at SS. Gee gee deserved to be an all star and although he hasn't had power numbers and never will he is absolutely deserving of being the AL shortstop on the All-star team but won't be and looks like Pablo Brito out of Houston will who is hitting below .300 but has 11 HR on the year (as of what reports say).
Brito is a monster - he's posting a .284/.353/.557 season with 18 home runs, 55 RBI, 2.6 WAR, and 28.7 VORP Geegee, by comparison is at .316/.369/.394 with 0 home runs, 23 RBI, 2.7 WAR, and a 24.5 WAR. GeeGee has stolen bases, average, and ZR on Pablo. Pablo's season > GeeGee's in my opinion. Russell is playing well, but I would hardly consider him a snub. I would agree that anyone who voted for Richard Moore over GeeGee is an idiot, or NeuroticTruth, the latter of which is just a synonym for idiot
Also has OBP on him and Gee Gee will never be a home run guy, if you look at him he is built to put the ball in play get on base and steal bases. I believe he has like 0 power at all so I don't ever see him hitting home runs and well as our lead off guy is doing what a lead off hitter does.
Trying to grasp why guys vote for who they do is a waste of thinking. But I do like this thread idea kdpnutter
Thanks, it is meant for other guys to list there own they feel should go too, lol that's the point. I don't think there will ever be universal voting understanding.
Ken 'Awesome' Endacott I didn't vote for him but what he has done in the absence of Padron has been impressive. Sure he has blown a couple of saves but he has been shut down in other instances. It is pretty cool that he has gotten 7 votes so far!
I'm just glad he's having a decent bounce back year after an abysmal season last season in San Diego. I would say he's probably deserving of being an All-Star, but over who of the other 5 guys currently leading the board?
Based on how NeuroticTruth talks about David Taylor he is getting snubbed by not getting votes for all 5 SP spots.
Former Astro draft pick is being snubbed the worst, SP Alex 'Butterball' Byrne (abolishthefed ) This dude is #3 in WAR in the MLB with a ridiculous 2.16 FIP
Alexander Maehle is getting jipped. Highest K/9 for starters in the NL and the only starter with a WHIP of under 1. Should be the 3rd or 4th starter being chosen.
I'm seeing them in September Unless of course you are not a Brand New fan and referring to the movie scene
It was a freaking greek tragedy that my closer Roger Hairs was snubbed from his second All Star game. Clearly, he needs to strike out more batters to be effective.
12 and 14.7 VORP just don't cut it in today's VORP world. 5th best WAR in MLB of all Closers won't even get you in
