Just wanted to add a response to address a couple of points made about the QB playmaker ability...
    • I can certainly understand how the feature was added with the best of intentions. Much like a QB could signal his receiver in another direction in an actual game, the function has it's merits. It is a cool feature, that obviously very few even knew about. The problem is that it can go from being a neat, useful feature, to being abused very easily. While the video doesn't do justice, as Eric said, to the intended use of the feature, it is a perfect example of the potential abuse.
    • As had been stated, it is very noticeable if the playmaker is used. The player indicator for the passing team will switch off of the QB, to the receiver being redirected, and then back to the QB again until he passes. Sometimes receivers will break off of their routes, once they have completed them, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a playmaker.

As far as the point made about QBs drawing the defense in with a scramble...

First to remind everyone of the rules on QB movement:

This is definitely not a tactic we want to see being used. I have heard the arguments about throwing on the run and all of that, but everyone should be well aware of the defensive AI's propensity for being fooled by a scrambling QB. Generally speaking, any QB sprinting around behind the line of scrimmage should end up committing to the run with the QB or throwing the ball away (or getting sacked, lol), the strong majority of the time.

We don't want to see anyone sprinting out of the pocket, without immediate defensive pursuit, only to end up passing the ball. Sprinting towards the sideline or the line of scrimmage (outside of the pocket) with the intention of pulling coverage defenders into pursuit is definitely a violation of our rules.

I had no idea this was still in the game. I don't even know what you guys are talking about when you say "PlayMaker".

Hopefully so. I never actually had it happen for or against me, and if not stumbling on the video I would not have known about it. Maybe one of these days we won't have to worry about any of this stuff.

That's just what they call the ability by the QB to redirect receivers mid play.
